I own two Fender Telecasters, but for my studio I really want a Strat, and an HSS seems like the perfect fit. These Pacificas look fantastic. I’ve also been considering a Revstar. If anyone here owns one, I’d love to hear your experience. How do the Seymour Duncan pickups sound? Are they more vintage-voiced, modern, or somewhere in between?
I’ve always used Fender mediums for years and never really thought about trying other picks it’s amazing how much more body it adds to my acoustics and the feel is great. I’ve thought about getting a Bluechip but don’t want to use it.
I’ve tried a lot of different strings, but Stringjoy is one brand I haven’t tried yet.
No matter what I experiment with, I always seem to end up back on Elixir Nanowebs. I’ve even tried D’Addario XS, but the Nanowebs feel a little less stiff to me and I prefer the tone. Maybe part of it is that I’ve played Taylors for years and they all use to come with Elixirs, so that’s just the sound and feel I’m used to.
I’ve seen some positive reviews of the Foxwoods, but I’ve also come across a few less favorable ones. A couple people mentioned they seemed to lose their tone fairly quickly, and two reviews specifically said the low E didn’t have as much depth or low-end response compared to XS or Elixirs.
For those who have tried them, what was your experience? Any other string recommendations I should check out?
