so my sister is 19. she's been obsessed with kanye since she was in 9th std. she had tickets to the actual concert through a friend and she was counting down the days. tour got cancelled last week and she has been in her room ever since. parents are worried, i'm worried, the whole house is weird.

today she came out of her room for the first time in 3 days and showed me a poster apparently khar social is doing a ye listening night on sunday the 24th. dj playing his whole discography, karaoke. she said "can we go" and bro i would have said yes if she asked me to fly her to mars at that point.

problem is i dont really know kanye beyond like 5 songs. and im 27, definitely older than the avg crowd at these things. is it gonna be all college kids or is there gonna be other 25+ ppl. dont wanna stick out and ruin her night.

if anyone's been to khar social for one of these nights before pls lmk what the crowd looks like. and if anyone here is also going, would be nice to know there's some friendly faces. shes excited for the first time in a week i just want it to be a good night for her.

Pata hai aaj kya hua my bf had an exam today so we were gonna meet after it but I really wanted a piercing (the smallest one, tragus) today so he drove like an hour to come there to me 😛 and I got it done. It hurt a LOT but it looks so pretty and he was w me so that helped a lot 😭 the piercer knows us by now because I’ve gotten many piercings w my bf in some months

Then we went back to his house and I had baked a cake for him and packed it in a golden box but I forgot to take pics. He loved the box and he ate the cake at home and found it to be really yummy.

Then we were together for hours. I was yelling “nahi nahi” because he was tickling me and his mom knocked thinking something else was happening 😭 so he gave her the cake too and she liked it 😛😛

After that we were alone and I was playing w his dog. I LOVE HIS DOG he’s so cute and so big he’s the best baby and he loves me too

Then my best friend called so all 3 of us talked for a while. Then we cuddled more and then it was time to leave ☹️ but after that, I was in the cab and he was on call w me. He told me he gave some cake to his mom and dad both and they really liked it which is so good

Now I’m home alone because my parents are on vacation and my brother is out w his friends

Pata hai aaj kya hua I went to get my nails done and then for waxing and met my bf. I had to get my earrings changed and one piercing redone so he came w me and it was so nice n I miss him already 💔 but sadly I got told I shouldn’t add more ear piercings (I have 4) bcs they won’t look good and it’ll be too crowded 💔

But it’s ok I’ll meet my bf on Wednesday day. End mein thodi si ladai ho gayi humaari 🥀 but it’s all sorted now so that’s good

I got sent this post by my friend and I have mixed thoughts. But one that struck me the quickest was why they never talk about marriage between a Dalit woman and a Brahmin man. The talking point has always been Brahmin women and Dalit men, almost like this activism is from the POV of the Dalit men and women facing caste discrimination are disregarded.

I agree with endogamy ending caste hierarchy but only using Brahmin women as a vessel for this is reducing women to incubators who will “carry the Dalit man’s blood”. It’s not an equal footing. It might resolve casteism but misogyny lives on.

Brahmin women are treated as property by their families, they don’t have agency to marry. But here, the fight isn’t for the agency of the Brahmin woman to marry, it’s for her to marry a Dalit man. Because at the end, he’s seeing her as being handed over to him (as property). It’s like a Brahmin man sharing/giving his property to a Dalit man as a peace treaty like kings did in historic times after wars. Woman is being used as a peace deal.

If the talking point had been simply intercaste marriages, it would’ve lacked misogyny. But talking specifically about only women marrying men from particular castes, it does make you stop and think why the opposite wasn’t done (Brahmin man and Dalit woman).

Someone asking white women to marry black men post-slavery times to better their relationships with each other sounds crazy because why is it on the women to break free from these social hierarchies when they have patriarchy to break free from?
