Admitting defeat

Metal rhythm player. A while ago I installed a SD black winter and lil screaming demon in my cheap LTD. The Lil demon is good but the black winter sounds like hell. Wired in per SDs instructions. White and red soldered and taped together, green soldered to volume pot and black to selector. I tried it in every tuning and if I had it below drop d, it was just so muddy it sounded horrible. I figured it was too weak pots so I just installed all new electronics with 500k pots. Sound quality is a little better but I tried it from drop-d to drop-a and the low end is still so deep what it sounds muddy and muffled. Am I doing something wrong or are these just not the pickups for me.

For reference I am usually an EMG fan but i figured id give the SDs a chance

Did 5 courses in 5 days

Yall helped me a few months ago plan out my week golf vacation. 3 of the 5 courses i played were new to me. Here is my run down of all the courses we played

Bearkat: 2nd time playing here. course was good for the price we payed. Cheapest of the week. It was a good challenge, a bit rough but still nice. Issue we had was pace of play. We got stacked up behind a 5some and a 3some that was 1 golfer teaching the other 2. We were waiting about 5-7 between each shot. 2some behind us gave up and left at hole 12. Will go back for when we want a bit of challenge

Panorama: ive been trying to play this course since I started golfing but never could get a weekend tee time. Course was great and the bar and grille inside was very nice. We did get stacked up behind 2 5somes but pace wasnt unbearable unlike the day before. Will definetly be playing this one again

Gleannloch: I dont know what to say about this one. I was not the biggest fan of it. The guys we got paired with were awesome, pace of play was good even with the course packed. The rough was pretty much unplayable. Beautiful looking course but it was soo open. Id play again if i was invited but not one id choose

Highland Pines: the clubhouse was beautiful. Course should have been a little better for the price we paid. It was super swampy for most holes. The fairways and greens were beautiful but everything was super wet. There hadn't been any storms lately and they said they watered the course that morning so I have no idea. I cant complain too much because I shot a personal best. I will play again but with the price it will be a special treat.

West Fork: I play this course a few times a month. At this point I should suck it up and get a membership there. Since the new owners took over a year ago, this course shows improvement every time I play it. It was cart path only today and they were worried about a storm coming so we were the last pair off for day. Still a beautiful day and the conditions were great. I will probably be back next week

Golf vacation day 5 final day

Saved our home course for the last day. Had heavy rain last night so It was cart path only. Wife is dying. She shot a bit over her average and i scored my 2nd lowest score. New irons are great and my distance game was on point but my wedge game sucked. It was a great week overall but we are tired and beat

Golf vacation day 4

Played one of the top rated public courses in the area. Wife didnt like that it was a bit swampy for the cost we paid but I really enjoyed it. It will be a special treat again in the future. Wife also started ordering me double shot drinks so I am properly lit. I shot a 89 personal best so I cant complain. New clubs were wonderful. Tomorrow we are closing out the week with our home course.

Golf vacation day 3

Wasn't feeling today's course. It was a nice course but hard and was super busy for a Wednesday. The rough was stupid thick and you basically couldn't hit out of it. We got paired up with a father/son duo that were much better than us and club members but they were good folks. Shot higher than usual but not too bad. My new irons came in today about 2 week early so I get to try those out tomorrow and we are playing one of the voted best courses in the area tomorrow, hopefully it will be worth the $125 each we are paying for it

No exams

Watching CoS. Dumbledore's gift to the school was no exams at the end. How did that work for the 5th and 7th years students doing OWLs and NEWTs?

Wedge question

Im about to get a set of maltby sti2 irons to replace my mismatched ta5/bb set and considering getting 2 maltby wedges to finish the setup. Currently I game a cobra pitch, cleveland ta5 dual, calloway 54 and a Nike 60. Spec chart says the sti2 pitch and gap are 44 and 48 and im looking at adding the 1.05 max milled wedges in 54 and 58. Does this sound like a good bag set up. Im a 20hcp and this will be the first complete of one brand set I purchase

Slightly frustrated

Shot a personal best 91 today... hole 16 i sliced the hell out of my drive and my wife (playing with me) told me to take a mulligan. Piped one 250 down the middle, then wedge shot to 3 feet of the hole and got a tap in birdie..... on a damn mulligan. It feels wrong to celebrate that as my second ever birdie

Scale wasnt moved but I got new NSVs

Scale has been consistent within a few pounds for a few weeks but ive had a bunch of NSVs this week.

Wearing an XL tshirt comfortably that I havent been able to wear in about 9 years. I need to rewash it because it still smells musty

Had to order shorts with a waist size starting with a 3 for the first time in 10 years

Had to wear my fall protection harness for the first time in like 6 months (on zepbound for 4 months now) and had to tighten/adjust every point on the harness

Managed to do 5 consecutive full pull-ups for the first time since getting out of the military

Had someone I hadn't seen in awhile say "it looks like you've lost a full person"

Remember just because the scale doesnt move, you are still improving

Golf week

Planning out a 6 day staycation golf week. Im in the conroe area and west forks is my main course. Planning 6 days and 6 different courses. Will be starting on west forks for day 1. I want to try legendary oaks in Hempstead and panorama. Also thinking of Bearkat in Huntsville. What others courses in the northern or western side of Houston do you recommend. Probably be sometime in October and trying to stay under $100 per player per day

Finished number 2

Looks great, sounds great. Feels good but I remember now why I dislike strats. I keep rolling the volume knob as im playing.... but every collection needs a strat and I felt like building mine

40 down and changing sizes

Im finally down 40 lbs and many of my nice treasured shirts no longer fit. They look like tents. A few of my really nice golf shirts im moving to the back of the closet and others are going to the yard sale pile. I do have a bunch of t-shirts that are my comfort clothes. My wife wants me to put them in a pile so she can make a quilt of them but some are rather ratty. Do i just trash them, put them in the quilt pile, or have a ceremonial retirement by fire for them

Day 1 on strat kit

Well I dont think this is gonna take over a year like my stained explorer kit build did. Coming together quick. Not a strat fan but I cant wait to see this one finished

Strength training

Reminder to not neglect your strength training. I broke my finger right as I started and 3 months later I can finally lift weights again. I had to drop about 1/3 of the weight from each exercise. I feel weak AF and like im starting from nothing again. Make sure you dont neglect your strength training

Pickup swap issue

Put a SD Black Winter and a Lil Screaming Demon in a LTD F-10. I did not change any of the other electronics, so original pots, jack and switcher. Everyone raves about these but they sound muddy and muffled in any tuning above d standard (ive been keeping in drop-d). I also have almost no mid-range from the BW. I found a pre-wired 2 500k pot set, just solder on the pups and install the hardware. Should I pull the trigger on this or do we think my issue is somewhere else

Or just remove these and sell them and put a unhooked single in the neck and a emg 81 or hz in the bridge. I want this guitar for my b or drop-a rig

VO2

Im hoping one of you fitness junkies can give me a lame man's explanation of this and how to improve it. Not a beginner to fitness but never heard this one before. It popped up on my watch app and its my only bad metrix. Been running and working out for years and never heard of VO2. My run time is improving and finishing not as dead every time but my VO2 score keeps going down.

Ive been focusing on cardio/running lately because I broke my hand and cant lift for a while

Edit: I know its a watch measurement and highly unreliable and probably not accurate. Im just curious as to what it is

First milestone

Finally broke 260. This has been a goal for about 6 years. Got down to 265 in 2020 but got injured and fell back to over 300. Been working back down but couldn't get below mid 280s. 9 weeks in and I finally did it
