Directive 8020 - Episode 8 - Let me in scene

Edit to post title: "Knock Knock" scene

When Mitchell is at the door, while pleading to be let in, he says, "I'm sorry for what I did before", or something along that line, to Cooper.

What is he referring to? I can't think of anything he did specifically.

From a marketing standpoint (or any other valid point), what does Rockstar gain from wanting the cast kept a secret until release?

Seems such an odd thing to me, the average consumer, for the casting choices to be kept secret. As if the casting choices would somehow give away major plot points.

This notification appeared on my phone. When I clicked it, nothing loaded and there's nothing on Navy Times' Twitter page.

Interesting. I wonder if it was an accidental repost of an old post or they misunderstood the memo and pulled the story

Looking for a meme photo - Indian boy standing on a couch or chair holding the tv remote above his head

Pretty sure his arm is fully extended, remote is pointed at a 90° angle forward.

I believe there was also a variation where there were 3 parts, each part shows him getting higher until the last part shows him standing in space.

Caption was something like "trying to change the channel"

Capping an unused shower head pipe due to leaking

We have a leaking shower head pipe with a steady drip. Roughly 1 drip every 2-3 seconds.

Landlord is indifferent about getting it fixed. Since it was a problem before we moved in and we don't use that shower I'm thinking two things:

  1. Cap it and forget about it, but I'm not sure if that will cause a problem later on. My thought process is that it is no different than the faucet just being shut.

  2. Cap it until I'm able to get ahold of the plumber they prefer I use, who is proving difficult to get ahold of. If this option, and putting a cap on will eventually lead to problems, how long is it reasonably safe to leave the cap on before it'll be a problem?

Woody stuck watching Andy jerking off

There was a funny short cg video about toy story during Andy's teenage years in which woody is on the floor or dresser perfectly positioned towards the bed and subjected to watching Andy pleasuring himself. The video slowly zooms in on woodys smiling face as his eyes convey him dying inside. I believe there were just noises off screen and/or the camera shaking slightly.

Looking for a bowl to prevent splashing

My 6 year old mixed lab/malinois is a sloppy drinker. Tongue slaps the water to the point that I think only half of a full bowl actually makes it into her stomach.

She also has had bladder control issues since she was a puppy (according to the vet, this is because she was a rescue and at 6 months was spayed due to California law, which caused her pelvic muscles to not develop properly) so we have to control how much she drinks.

We're looking for some kind of bowl that is designed to prevent splashing.

Some of those bowls that fill only a small amount for them to drink and refill as they drink seem good but they have reservoirs that would allow her access to more water than we typically give her.

She's usually pretty good about telling us when she needs to go outside, but If she drinks too much, she will sometimes pee while she's asleep if her bladder is even a bit too full.

I'm guessing we don't have very many middle ground options here, it's either splashing with a normal bowl where we can control the amount or a bowl designed to prevent splashing where we cant control it as much.

Thanks

2026 cx-30- Navigation SD/dashboard issues

Edit: entire thing below boils down to my misreading of trim-level features. Leaving this up for posterity and for shaming*

I got one of the ones off of Amazon for the correct year.

I inserted it into the slot and it is recognized, shows maps, seems accurate enough and shows speed limits on the dashboard to the upper left of the speedometer.

But one thing I've noticed is that the speed limits will sometimes be incorrect, delayed in appearing or not appear at all.

First time I drove after putting it in, I got on the the expressway and the speed limit stayed 25 until I turned that setting off and on again, then it was correct.

Today, I drove and there was nothing displayed. I drove past a whole bunch of signs, turned it off and on and still nothing. Once I arrived at my destination, speed limits appeared and after that, they continued to stay and change as we were driving.

Sometimes, the navigation will say the speed limit is 40, the road sign will say 40 but the dashboard will say 35 and then other times it'll be the opposite and the dashboard will match the road sign but the navigation will be out of date.

I'm super confused. Does it use the built in navigation to determine speed limits or the camera above the rearview mirror?

I can definitely see a camera there and I was led to believe that it was used for reading roadsigns.

Is the card faulty or the car...or am I completely misunderstanding this functionality?

Thanks

I find myself yelling at my 6 year old son more often

I'm in the military and was gone for a year. I left a few weeks after he turned 5 and returned a few months after he turned 6. There was a 30 day window in the middle where I visited but I don't count that as being back because it felt like vacation so I was more fun dad more often.

He's now pushing back more often and I'm yelling at him more. I don't like it and feel like a bad father afterwards. In the moment, it feels necessary to get him to comply because he refuses. Things like turning the TV off after he's been watching for a few hours, turning the switch off, getting ready for bed, etc.

I do start with asking him to do it, and do it once or twice. He complains and then I raise my voice.

Something like "ok buddy, time to turn the TV off/get ready for bed/etc"

I wonder if me being gone for a year screwed up the natural development of the father/child relationship.

When I get angry and raise my voice after asking then telling then shouting to do something, he looks so shattered like I just destroyed his soul and it kills me every time. But I don't know what else to do for him to understand that there's a reason for turning the TV off after a certain amount of time or getting ready for bed at a certain time.

Any advice from dads out there?

What happened here?

Rundown of events (sorry, it's long):

Went into a Mazda dealership, spent time with Shannon going over a couple different trims of the new CX-5 and CX-30. Ended up going with the CX-30.

Shannon knew from the beginning, because they asked as part of the initial data collection stuff, that my family and I had just transferred from overseas and were living in a hotel due to being military and were actively looking for housing and didn't want to continue renting cars. They said it's no problem.

Settled on a CX-30, trim, price, all the stuff, and we waited for them to setup the financing stuff. I asked her if there's any penalty for early pay down, they said "no, but as a professional courtesy, we ask you to wait 60 days", to which I agreed that it wouldn't be a problem. She also said they would help me get the rental car back to the airport the next day by having one of their guys meet me there and bring me back to the dealership.

Due to us being in a hotel, the bank they were trying to use was being picky and not accepting that, but they were adamant that we were leaving in that vehicle that day.

Finally, finance guy, Bill, said solution was sign everything now and first thing in the morning (it was a bit past their closing time by now, which I felt so bad about) he would call Mazda financing and if they wouldn't finance with my spouse on there as co-signer, they'd just take her off and use military exemption with just me as to why I don't have a physical address yet. Whatever the outcome, financing will be approved one way or another and he will call me as soon as he gets word. They open at 9am.

Shannon puts dealer plates good for 24 hours on the car, hands us the key, tells us that next day, we'll come back, finish the financing stuff, get a proper feature rundown of the vehicle by salesperson, get temp registration and tags, return rental car, be brought back and it'll be finished. Shannon says "congrats, have a good night and I will see you tomorrow!"

Here's where things get crazy:

9am rolls around, nothing.

10am...nothing

11am...nothing

Noon...nothing

I call them. Receptionist answers, asks where she can direct the call. I explain the situation. She says, "Bill is in the middle of a deal right now, can I have him call you back?" So I agree.

Five minutes later, a different guy calls me back, says they found a solution and need me to come in. I ask about the rental car thing and he says, "I'll have someone by the time you get here".

I get there, we handle the rental car thing first, shannon is nowhere to be seen. So I ask about them,

\- "oh she's off today"

\- "Ok so can I get the feature rundown of the vehicle?"

- "we're pretty busy"

\- \*I look around, there's about 5 salespersons and 2 customers inside\* "whatever, I'll just Google it"

Bill gives other guy the stuff, never comes out to address me in person, at this point, I still owe the other half of the down payment and there's still one more thing that needs signing, so the transaction is not complete...and I still have their dealer tags.

Eventually, everything gets done, I never speak directly to Bill at all, never see Shannon again, dealer tags get swapped for temp tags and I receive temp registration. There's a spot for dealers signature. I have to ask them to sign it, I'm also supposed to receive the second key for the car, I also have to remind them of this.

What the hell happened that second day?

I know the dealer is not my friend, no matter how much they try to make it seem like they are on that first day, but the deal was technically not complete.

I had to basically do their job for them the second day to get the deal finished.

Many promises were made, only 1 was kept, the rental car return.

I don't think I was a difficult customer. That whole thing with the bank was not my fault and they knew going in. This is one of the largest military cities, surely this isn't the first time they've dealt with this.

Shannon asked what my budget was and I said 29-30k, the CX-5 we originally wanted was around that price on Mazda's website. The CX-30 we ended up going with was 31k on the website for the preferred trim because the lower trim only had white interior and we have young kids who would absolutely stain those seats. So Shannon said "if we can get you the other one which is the next higher trim, because it's the only one we have available right now in black interior, and keep it under that 30k price, will you close today?" I said yeah. So I don't feel like I was this dude coming in being a douche, driving a hard bargain, asking for all the discounts and freebies. Ended up paying $29k because I didn't want the paint coating which I told them when we were talking quotes from the first CX-30.

I just don't understand the complete shift the next day despite the sale not being finalized.

Would I be in the wrong to not keep my promise of waiting 60 days to pay off the loan?

Now I'm feeling very petty and strongly considering paying that loan off in less than 60 days.
