Found footage that's not mainly in mockumentary/faux documentary style

I hope my subject is clear, but basically I love FF but am particularly fond of raw FF, like vlog style, recovered footage etc. OG Blair Witch has a good balance of the doc + footage setup, but I find it hard to get invested in FF movies that really lean into the doc piece, if that makes sense.

I far prefer movies like Host, I'm Haunted, Blair Witch, Dorothy Bell etc to mockumentary options, though Noroi and Lake Mungo might be exceptions.

Any recs you can provide (well known or obscure) are appreciated. The more atmospheric, the better.

Side note: I tried to look around the subreddit but I wasn't able to find too many posts that deal specifically with this type of FF exclusively. Thanks for any recs you can provide!

Abe Laboriel Jr Drums (Spitfire) with Alesis Nitro Mesh

Has anyone gotten this combination to work properly? I just got the plugin and love the sounds, but when I try to trigger from my Mesh, it's either silence or very faint hits. Midi hits seem to register otherwise. Haven't had this issue with other plugins. Any suggestions?

Trying to find fairly recent movie (2010s-2020s?) where young couple buy or rent apartment in rundown complex

Desperately trying to find this one. Combing through lists, my watchlist, etc, and coming up empty. I genuinely wonder if I'm hallucinating, but any help is appreciated!

I saw this movie several years ago and my search has come up empty. I don't remember a lot of details about the progression of the plot, but the movie revolves around a young couple who buy or rent their first place together (possibly an apartment in NYC?) The unit is quite dilapidated and has plumbing and electrical issues...IIRC, they don't have a fridge and there are electrical sparks. I believe that rats or some other kind of infestation happens.

It was a really small apartment and quite dark and dingy. I think at one point the man is coming back with groceries while his partner desperately tries to sweep/clean. There's another scene where they're watching a movie on what looks like a projector or really old TV.

That's all I've got, other than the guy in the couple keeps trying to find silver lining in the situation. I think it's a horror but could be thriller. Kind of had an indie feel, I think. Sorry to not have more details, but hope this jogs someone's memory! I've scoured lists and other reddit posts, asking Gemini etc, and have come up empty.

Movies already ruled out:

  • Apartment 413 (though I believe the one I'm thinking of has a similar vibe)
  • His House
  • Duplex

[TOMT] [MOVIE] [2010s-2020s] [SCI-FI/HORROR/INDIE] Husband dies, wife brings him back and he's not the same

I only remember sparse details about this one, but I'm hoping what I provide helps with some leads. As stated in the subject, the husband dies and then comes back. Initially seems ok but he gets increasingly agitated and even becomes abusive over time. He's clearly not the same. Definitely felt like a Black Mirror episode at times, but was definitely a movie. I likely watched on Tubi, but it was years ago. Any suggestions?

EDIT: SOLVED! It's Alpha Gateway (2018). The widower travels to a parallel dimension; I'd forgotten that detail. Thanks all for the help!

[2000s-2020s] Young couple buy or rent dilapidated apartment

Trying again:

I saw this movie several years ago and my search has come up empty. I don't remember a lot of details about the progression of the plot, but the movie revolves around a young couple who buy or rent their first place together (possibly an apartment in NYC or a similar big city?)

The unit I believe is main floor or basement. Seems like a bachelor; either way, it's really small and dark/dingy. Quite dilapidated and has plumbing and electrical issues...IIRC, they don't have a fridge and there are electrical sparks. I believe that rats or some other kind of infestation happens but it's not the main focus of the movie. There's a scene where the woman is sweeping and I think another scene where they're trying to do things with the light (maybe projecting an image onto the wall?)

Movies ruled out that were already suggested:

  • Duplex (2003)
  • The Money Pit (1986)
  • Toolbox Murders (2004)
  • Dark Water (2002/2005)
