How's 9 sig and other systems YTD return after 3 quarters?

YTD TQQQ is ~54.4% with dividends through October 2. (48.9% after 3 quarters ending Sept 30 with dividends reinvested per dividendchannel.com)

I will admit as swing trader the war, oil prices, and bond yields has had me very confused this year. I went from handily beating TQQQ buy and hold to falling way behind and only recently started catching up, about 42% YTD.

I am curious how the other systems have done. Thanks!

SOXX 5 Touch Support Trendline

I’ve been trading SOXL lately and analyzing SOXX for TA. I’m very surprised to see SOXX form a very consistent support trendline given how volatile SOXX is.

Anyone else trading this trendline? It’s about time we go touch it again LOL!

Waldorf Astoria New York

Four nights on FNCs, received a great upgrade to a 12th floor junior suite overlooking a rooftop green space. Room is huge with two desks, lots of closets and an integrated shower room with a full size bathtub.

Truly best hotel we have ever been in.

Update: so the toilet is heated and has push button bidet functions. I will have to give it a try being American.

We get a $50 per day F&B so we’ll probably buy some expensive drinks tonight. The lobby bar does look spectacular.

Annual Fee posted Aug 1, Payment Due Aug 16, how long can I wait to get full AF refund?

Hi Folks, as the title states I was wondering how long can I wait to request a card cancellation and receive a full refund of the AF?

Also, if I request after the 16th (and paid the AF) can I still get a full AF?

Discussion: Who Trades Gap Fills?

Chart is NDX.

Full disclosure: I trade TQQQ based on Gap Fills, Channels and RSI. I honestly don’t really buy into any other TA.

Discussion
Three days, three gap fills — every filled gap acted as support. The reversals were really really close to the actual gap fill (perfect for a day trader but I’m not one). I’ve been using this to predict and set entry and exit prices in TQQQ and generally it’s done really well for me.

My reasoning is gap fills are “signals” the entire market can see them and if enough traders use them it becomes reality. Basically it’s legal collusion among traders.

Do you trade gap fills and why?

Diamond Top is Confirmed!

So I’m sure Barchart.com will tweet about this soon but yes today we met the Diamond Top confirmation on the Nasdaq 100 (per Barchart)!

By my estimate, the target drop will be to the 26,800 to 27,000 level. But more interesting, see how NDX dropped and reversed at the Gap Fill (TA works LOL!) I bought TQQQ at that point and surprise it was only 10 cents higher than low of the day.

So where does NDX go next? Well, there is a juicy Gap Fill to the upside at 28,935.

Will it fill first or will NDX hit 27,000 first?

UPDATE: Looks like a Fibonacci Retracement at 50% would peg the Diamond Top drop to 26,800 almost exactly.

Barchart states a QQQ close below $693 will confirm Diamond Top

They posted above pic. Articles are on X and Facebook. QQQ closed Friday at $695.33 after dipping as low as $686.76

I don’t know how the author got $693 as confirmation, what do you guys think?

Hermitage Bay - Do you just stay at the resort?

Question for the folks who have stayed at Hermitage Bay, do you tend to just stay at the resort or do you plan an excursion to St. John or Barbuda?

And if you did an excursion, was it worthwhile and/or what would you do differently? Did the HB staff help with the excursion?

I was wondering if anyone added a day or two outside of HB at St. John and if so did HB staff take you to the other hotel in lieu of the airport?

Thanks! I'm planning six nights and will probably be happy to just relax the whole time as a second honeymoon with my wife. Just a little worry about being bored.

NDX Diamond Top?

Not paywalled.

Early in the morning we dropped below 50 DMA, rallied above in the afternoon before finally failing to hold above. No news I can think of.

Are we on the cusp of a reversal? If so, how far down to diamond tops drop down? We have so many Gaps below plus the 200 DMA.

Phoenix Lounge

The Rise and Shine, great drink with espresso and a side of chocolate covered coffee beans.

45 minute delay on my flight so I’m just enjoying a good time here.

TQQQ Gap Down Tomorrow!

Current aftermarket price is $67.38!!!

But seriously, this post isn't about the bull trend ending although we would likely see a correction (-10% from ATH). And a correction would really be good for this overheated market, especially if you are planning on buying.

We got some headwinds. Iran war going hot again, SpaceX IPO sucking out the liquidity. And tomorrow is PPI at 8:30 AM EST and the forecast is bad:

"For the May Producer Price Index (PPI) report, the consensus estimates among economists forecast a 6.4% year-over-year annualized increase for the headline figure, and a 5.4% rise for the core PPI."

So if you are like me and want to buy at a cheaper price -- what price would you pick???

We actually have a bunch of Gap Fills to pick from and also the 50 DMA and 200 DMA. TQQQ price would translate to $64.34 to $46.57

This drop is the real deal, I'm buying back in at 200 DMA

I think a 4.77% drop that isn't caused by anything Trump said or did should be something to be concerned about, especially after a huge run up to ATH. Rising treasury yields do affect the stock market, especially tech.

I'm sure a lot of retail bought the dip thinking it's another opportunity. And the volume was huge yesterday, like 2x the average but clearly the selling overwhelmed the dip buyers plus we ended the day at the lows of the session. So I think this drop is really significant and could lead to at least a temporary correction (-10% or more)

Looking back in time, in July-August of 2024 we had a head and shoulders pattern and a 15.7% pullback from ATH after a huge run to new ATH that also started on a big drop. The drop finally stopped after crossing the 200 DMA which coincidentally if this were to happen again would have the 200 DMA around the same % drop.

Not saying Monday couldn't be Green, if anything we could get another head and shoulders pattern -- a little drop to the neckline then rally to a shoulder before finally dropping.

Estimated price of TQQQ at 200 DMA today is $48.30 but it's rising so I expect to buy back around $50.
