Warfarer shapes up to be the default vocation to play in Dark Arisen

With new gear and changes included with patches/ and Dark Arisen Expansion, I think that Warfarer will be THE default vocation to play for various reasons:

  • With increased stats of new weapons, decreased base stats caused by Warfarer vocation means a lot less. Presented in latest showcase magick bow has magick of 1076, compared to fully upgraded Elven Grianmhar 685 magick. (on side note - this makes me think that the relic gear is unupgradeable, because of sheer stat disparity between stock best weapons in the base game and expansion one).
  • Level 3 skill versions and core skills/auguments are now linked to weapons. That means that other classes are limited with their selection of skills based on weapon they roll/find, and there's possibility that there won't be ideal rolls - meaning there will be some compromises to be had. Warfarer completely ignores that, making player use multiple weapons exploiting lvl3 weapon skills and core/auguments to their will.
  • Unless we get new set of maister skills, or their upgraded version, inclusion of wider selection of skills and their upgrades makes them less impactfull than in full game.
  • Most importantly, now with august patch we do get 2 additional skill slots, fixing main problem of warfarer - limited active skills. Now we get 5 skills instead of 3 which is a huge improvement and allows for much higher flexibility for warfarer. Sure there's speculation there could be auto-weapon swap function added based on red glow fighter arisen had on latest showcase, but let's leave it in realm of maybe. 5 skills is enough to create fancy combinations or make unique classes like Strider.
  • Access to free Levitation for all classes is also very nice, especially when exploring new areas.

Bow in showcase

All points mentioned, makes me feel that Warfarer will be the default way to play dragons dogma 2 dark arisen. Of course that's just speculation and capcom could include some class specific core skills and auguments, but as for now - we haven't seen any.

ps. What are your plans on expansion, are you sticking with your main vocation or are you planing to do some fancy Warfarer unique class on your own? Im personally thinking about Ilusionist Strider with Bow/Daggers/Censer, to somewhat recreate strider from the first game and add smoke/illusion theme on top of it. Share your ideas!

Part of me wants proper balance or alternative balance setting for the DLC/Expansion

A lot of moves in DD2 are hillariously overpowered.

It would be shame if all new challanging content would be trivialized by them. Same goes for new skills, why using them if you can clear everything with your gigachad skill.

Sure there's argument of *you dont have to use them*, but same could be applied for people wanting hardmode - you can just use how level gear and game will be challanging.

[Disscusion] So, in your opinion which uniques got biggest glow up with the runesmithing?

0.5 introduced runemastering, which in theory should add some useability for uniques.
In your opinion which uniques gained the most with their upgrades?

For me Slivertongue Bow which was already amazing SSF starter weapon got even higher critical chance (16%) and some bonus chaos damage on top of it, making it ideal for early t15 pushing with poison bow.

Chaos convert rune has some interesting interactions

With low investment you can make 500+ dps bow dealing primary chaos damage.

That has very strong upsides:

  • You can scale not only poison damage, but also hit damage from physical attacks with Despair and Withering, allowing much faster bossing
  • Since flat gains for elemental damage are so high, your weapon is no longer bound to Iron Rune. Opening space for more interesing options like +1 poison, +1 arrow etc. Without losing on damage.
  • Chaos damage gains in passive tree, in general are higher than physical
  • Because we are dealing mostly chaos damage now, we can use any attack to inflict wither with Withering Touch support gem

It has also very bad downsides:

  • you can't leech mana/life unless you are Chayula

GGG can we add more possible button binds to controller?

Hey r/PathOfExile2

Playing on controller comes with some sacrafices compared to mouse and keyboard.
Not only we have to dedicate one slot for dodge/button bind, but you have to have swap button if you want to use league mechanics (placing explosives etc.).
Controllers have more unused input methods: back buttons, pressing analog sticks, gyro, touchpads (steam controller and steam deck), i would love to see them utilized someday.

What's your opinion about it?
