modeling practise

made an extremely basic cake! still definitely learning the tools, but i do feel as if i'm getting better at understanding them at least. i think my next step is seeing if i can paint it using differently sized pixels, if that's possible, so it looks better :)

need help editing

hi! another silly problem. i'm having trouble mousing over to edit/delete things like angles and poses. sometimes the prompt stays up, but most of the time, it doesn't

i can't right click, and i can't hover over it with my mouse and press 'delete' on my keyboard; both actions don't do anything. i can't click and hold.

is there a reliable way to be able to edit/delete in the menu? :o is my UI too big, maybe? i've attached a short video displaying my issue :)

[practise] Mandragora

this is the very first model i've made! i watched a quick tutorial on how to use the basic tools and then just. did it :)

this is a Mandragora enemy from Final Fantasy (specifically, it's the 14 variation)

exporting/saving it was.. a hassle 😅 as i mentioned in a separate post, i've been having issues trying to get Blockbench to recognise my 'pictures' folder as a default folder rather than my desktop (i understand i'll probably just have to make a projects folder on my desktop for future models, so it's less annoying). i had to redo the textures several times because they all didn't save/move properly. but i like this guy. it was fun to make despite the annoyance :)

assorted skins

i am back! and i've learned a bit better how to pose skins :)

once again, thanks to the sub for helping me understand how pivots work! posing the skins has, indeed, gotten more intuitive, and i've learned a lot about the gizmos!

small, indoor cave farm

i've been working on an d off with this little farm i built for my village :) i rather like it. it's in a cave because the village is nestled between two snowy mountains, so i figure, 'lore wise', they can better regulate the temps inside a cave

help finding an old game

hi!! :)

so there's this game i have in my memory. it's got extremely bright visuals, think Ty the Tasmanian Tiger or Jak and Daxter; very bright, very eye-catching, and why it's been in my memory. i'm pretty sure, similarly, it was a collectable platformer

now, what i remember is a cruise ship level. i think the exterior of the ship was white, and you explored the inside AND the water around it for things to collect. i remember the cruise ship was set in front of a waterfall. i don't remember the console it was on, unfortunately, but i think it was a similar era (so PS1, PS2, but i can't be positive, sorry;;;)

i'm almost positive the game was 3d (as opposed to 2d), and i think the level took place in the daytime, as i remember it being bright. the ship was above water

this game wasn't Gex (or any of the series trilogy), wasn't the aforementioned Jak and Daxter or Ty. thanks in advance! :)

help with a game by comparing it to other games

folder defaults

hi guys! another question i couldn't find the answer to via searching; is there a way to set a default save folder? i've looked in the preferences -> settings, and all the submenus in settings, but i don't see how to assign a folder as default. i'm practising making generic models now, and it's quite annoying to have all the textures try to save themself to my desktop, and then have to move them either in my actual file organiser, or within the blockbench program itself (because each save defaults to desktop).

thank you in advance! :)

seeking feedback (shading/noise)

hi! hello :) i'm seeking feedback regarding the shading/use of noise for my skins. i've noticed that a lot of other creators use flat/basic shading, and no noise at all. i, personally, really enjoy using noise as it makes it feel a lot more 'Minecraft-y' to me (ie, using the grass+dirt blocks as an example); the random shades strewn about make it feel as if it fits more into the world!

so! my question is this : do people like noise? or do people vastly prefer flatter skins?

my example images are thus :

the little elven lady in the orange outfit is a 99% noise 'shaded' skin, with the only exception being her bracelet.

the astronaut is more like 60%, with me utilising noise for the chestpiece, gloves, kneepads, and parts of the pants. the helmet and shoulders have 0 noise, and are 'flat'.

(i'm using a brush with a 'random shade' setting to 'make' the noise; it's programmed to paint with 1 shade until i let go of left click, at which point, it picks a new (but adjacent) shade at random)

thank you in advance! :)

newcomer needing help with tools

hi! i'm very new to using blockbench (i've been practising with it for about a week, now), and i really enjoy it! i make skins, and even more recently, i've been trying to learn how to make custom poses for them using the pose tool!

my problem seems to be with pivots? i believe i accidentally messed with them somehow, and as you can see in the photos, the body's pivot is all the way at the top rather than in the middle, where i believe it was. i don't seem to be able to fix it. i've binded both 'center pivot' and 'center individual pivots' to keys i know for a fact aren't currently bound, and pressing them doesn't do anything. i also can't put these buttons on my toolbar, as they're 'hidden', which implies i can't use them in this mode.

i also can't adjust the number in the 'transform' section, under 'pivot point'. if i input a number, and press enter, it resets. i also can't move the mouse left or right on any of the pivot point numbers, but i can do it with the rotation numbers. as you can see in the photos, none of the pieces are locked.

i would appreciate any help! ;; i did try searching for an answer to this issue, as it seems pivots cause a lot of beginners like myself problems, but i couldn't find an answer that actually worked. thank you very much in advance!

tldr; i want to put the pivot in the center of the body (and the other limbs), rather than it being at the top (or the bottom, in the case of the head).

(edit)

i also did completely close and reopen blockbench just in case and i still can't mess with the numbers.
