Have you noticed that people get weird about lesbians having a physical 'type?'

I feel like people expect lesbians to find every woman stunning and beautiful and perfect. You see it all the time online with (supposed) bisexuals joking about how they're attracted to every woman and 2 men (crazy how they always end up with one of those two men!) I was chatting with some of my friends at a bar the other day, and the topic of our 'types' came up. One of them started regurgitating that kind of crap about how every woman is so beautiful, then turned to me and went "I bet you don't have a type at all, women are so gorgeous!" No... I definitely do, just like everyone else does. The whole group started acting genuinely surprised and somewhat offended when I pushed back on that idea.

I think it relates to people subconsciously not seeing lesbianism as a valid sexuality, but as more of a choice or political statement. No other group is expected to find every single person in their potential dating group attractive. Straight people, gay guys, bisexuals are all allowed to have preferences. Only lesbians are expected to be completely impartial about their dating pool.

Drink came with an entire cookie in it, bartender refused to remake it 😑

I went out to a trendy new bar with some friends last night. Fun drinks, cool garnishes, etc. I ordered a tiki-style drink with very basic, safe ingredients (rum, pineapple juice, lime, etc). Didn't ask about the drink being GF, as there was nothing listed in that drink (or any) that could contain gluten. Yeah, whatever, I should have, I know... listen, we all get lazy sometimes!

Bartender hands me the drink. There's an entire cookie in it! Nothing about that was listed on the menu. I call him over and inform him that I have celiac disease and I can't drink it. He pulls it out of the drink and tries to hand it back to me. Um, no, not gonna work. When I refused the cookie-less drink, he put up a huge stink, and started telling me about how I couldn't just 'demand a new drink' because I didn't inform him I had an allergy.

Luckily, he wasn't working alone, because he made it very clear that he was not going to remake it for me! The manager noticed, came over, and forced his employee to remake it. I just couldn't believe the attitude. Ugh. 😑 I told the manager he should really re-write the menu to note any garnishes, ingredients, etc. that contain common allergens. Maybe things will change, maybe they won't... this disease messes with the weirdest parts of your life!

Does anyone else get sooooo hungry during migraines??

I know hunger is a somewhat common prodrome syndrome, but DURING migraines I am just completely ravenous. I've eaten like half of my meal-prepped pasta for the next few days in the last four hours. Even when I'm nauseous it doesn't go away!

People misconstruing the terms 'curvy' and 'petite' drive me insane!

CURVY - can be any size, including very small ones. I wear a curvy 23" in Levi's jeans. All it means is that the waist measurement is smaller / hip measurement is larger compared to a standard size. But nowadays, people assume 'curvy' and 'plus-size' mean the same things. Store attendants occasionally look at me like I'm f-ing crazy when I ask if they have curvy jeans!

You can be very small with a curvy figure, or very large without one. It doesn't really relate to weight.

Look for 'curvy jeans' if you find that pants are usually too tight around your hips and too loose around your waist!

PETITE - refers to SHORT women of any body size. It doesn't mean 'skinny!' It's for people under 5'3" - 5'4" who need shorter inseams, shorter sleeves, etc.

I get so frustrated with people out in the wild not understanding these terms, LOL! Especially when they work in clothing stores!

William Cowper's hare

From Cowper's The Task (Book III) about keeping a hare safe from hunting. His work is so beautifully devastating. This excerpt in particular always gets me
