Rent control feels great short term but over decades it just leads to decrepit buildings

I feel like NYC has already been over this turf once in the 60s and 70s, buildings especially in the Bronx had rent control and were left to rot because none of the landlords cared to take care of them. Eventually the current landlord will just get tired of them and sell them to the next person on down the line who cares even less about upkeep. It might sound great today but its unsustainable long term.

I learned today that cystic fibrosis is now a manageable disease

Does anyone remember cystic fibrosis? I think I heard of some kids my age who had it and died. In the last 10 years they have made this a manageable disease through science and research. It's not exactly been 'headline' news, but it felt like it was a pretty well known tragic disease in the 80s.
