Anyone having problems with the new Lumix Lab app?

I've just upgraded to the latest version and it doesn't work at all. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling and it just hangs after it launches.

Unfortunately there's no way to revert to the previous version. Am I alone?

Why are all the embedded video players so shitty now?

My friend sends me Facebook videos. I'm not logged into Facebook and I'm using a PC browser to view them.

The video loads and begins to autoplay but there's a huge box floating above the video that says "See more on Facebook". There's a login box and a QR code, but the video is already playing and I can't see it until I click the cross in the top right corner to get rid of it.

I've now missed the first 5-10 seconds of the video but it's still playing with the sound off. It takes me a few seconds to locate the mute button in the top right corner.

I want to go back and see what I've missed but I can't as there's NO FUCKING SEEK BAR!! I can't rewind, I can't skip ahead. I can play, pause or reload but when I reload I get the "See more on Facebook" shit again.

My friend sends me an Instagram video but I can't see it as I'm not logged in. I log in. The video plays automatically but with the sound off. I go to unmute it but the control is somewhere on the screen (not in the same place as the Facebook video) and when I eventually find it I can't rewind or skip ahead as there's NO FUCKING SEEK BAR again.

Now Youtube has also gone down this road. On Reddit there are embedded Youtube videos and you used to be able to click on them and you'd be able to maximise them and still have access to the seek bar and other useful things like changing the quality setting. I have gigabit broadband but they play at 360p only now the only way I can change the quality setting is to watch the video on Youtube instead of embedded on Reddit.

The seek bar IS NOT THERE AT ALL when you're in full screen mode. Instead you have to un-fullscreen the playback and then you get the seek bar back.

Why are all the main sites doing this?

I'm old enough to remember the days of RealPlayer and Quicktime and for a while Flashplayer seemed to be a big improvement. Then they killed Flash and had HTML-based video players and everything seemed good. But for some reason enshittification just seems to be a deliberate ploy by big tech to drive me round the bend.
