Power button behavior between different remotes on a G5

I'm posting this because I was pretty shocked to discover this (I'm sure some of you already knew it). When I got my G5 77" a couple of weeks ago, I immediately switched remotes to my old CX magic remote because I didn't want to give up the mute, numbers, and pause/play buttons. Two days ago, I thought I'd try to use the minimalistic remote that came with the G5. Apart from hating it immediately, I was taken aback by the differing functionality of the power button on it vs my CX remote.

When I press the power button to turn the TV off with my CX remote, it just goes off as expected (or goes into standby based on how I have it set up). On my G5 remote when I hit the power button, it launches the Gallery app and starts showing me slides covering weather, sports, etc... I had no idea that the power button could act different based on which remote I was using. I had gone through the menus in the last couple of weeks to try to get it to show the Gallery when I turned it off, but I never got it to work (was planning on posting on here at some point about how I couldn't get it to work).

I always thought Power button would just turn on/off regardless of which remote I was using. Both buttons have the red symbol on it which I'd expect the same functionality. Well, I was wrong.

Where does the bandwidth issue lie?

I have a movie that streams at 20.1 Mbps on my local PC. When I try to play it via Plex on TV, it ends up sitting at the waiting screen a lot while buffering. If I change the audio settings to the step below and lose Atmos, it streams just fine for the entire movie. I had just changed out my HDMI cables with these about a week ago when I got a new LG G5 and Onkyo RZ30.

What is causing the bandwidth issues here and what can I do?

Occasional brief audio dropout with streaming via eARC on Onkyo rz30

I got my rz30 a week ago and have it hooked up to my LG G5 77”’tv vie eARC with new cables. I’m noticing occasional audio dropouts (half second) while I’m streaming movies from various services. It does this while on various sound formats like surround 5.1 or Atmos. It does it every few minutes. Is there anything I can do to stop this?

So do you leave any AI options enabled in new LG?

At this point, I think I’ve turned pretty much all of them off trying to fix this or that visual anomaly or dealing with advertising. Are any of them worth actually leaving on?

(I have a G5 77”)

Does Alexa suck on all models?

I went from a CX to a G5 a week ago and I was hoping that it would work better on a new top of the line model. Nope. At first it seemed better but now I find myself yelling at it repeatedly to get it to work. Who is at fault here - LG or Amazon?

I just got a new Onkyo AVR that apparently doesn’t have Alexa integration that I was considering returning to get one that does. But, if I’m going to have the same kind of hit-or-miss with that with Amazon being at fault, I may not bother.

Have AZ-204 and AI-102, what's next?

I still haven't gotten a job so that's my main goal. I renewed both of my mentioned certifications last week. I received one of the vouchers from the skills fest last week. Would the AI-200 be a good one to do next as it will be out of beta next month (or possibly the AI-103)? I don't want something that's basically a rehash of what I already did.

Any way to control volume to AVR via Alexa?

I have an LG G5 77" and just got an Onkyo RZ30 yesterday. Everything works great together via eARC and remote. But, I have not been able to control the volume going to the AVR via Alexa commands. The AVR itself apparently doesn't support Alexa (which I may return it due to this) but I was hoping the smart speaker and the TV would send the signal through to change the volume like using the remote. All I get is a beep in response.

Voice commands for RZ30?

I just got the RZ30 this week and was under the assumption that it supported Alexa. Apparently I was wrong. I am considering returning it and going with a Denon that I know supports it unless somebody has a workaround. I was wanting to play Amazon Music via voice, change inputs, and control volume via voice.

Need a pair of wall mounted height speakers for Dolby Atmos.

I have an LG 77” G5 and am getting a Onkyo TX-RZ30 this week. I currently have a 5.1 setup and would like to add two wall mounted height speakers to enable Dolby Atmos (mounted on the walls above my TV since my ceiling is too high). I would like to keep the price under $200. Im not sure exactly what I need and I read I need to worry about “crossover” when getting small speakers. Not sure exactly what that means in terms of deciding which to purchase.

How to remove LG Channels from inputs?

I’ve followed every instruction I’ve seen online except changing my region which would cause issues with some apps apparently. I’ve got all but a couple user agreements unchecked and there was not one specifically for LG Channels. It won’t let me select from Manage apps screen and it now just says Start when I launch it implying that it wants to be set up. It takes up a lot of room in Inputs list and is rather it be gone.

This is on a 77” G5.

How do you have your LG OLED hooked up to your AV receiver?

Also, do you use the built-in LG apps?

I have Denon receiver that I run an optical out from my TV to (I have a 2020 65 CX which will be replaced with a 77 G5 next week). I have my PC, PS5, Switch 2, and TiVo stream all running to my TV HDMI inputs. I use the LG built-in apps almost exclusively and only one or two apps on my TiVo that the TV doesn’t offer (like Hoopla). I have numbers 1-8 on my remote programmed to launch different apps. The LG magic remote is the only remote I need to use (it controls the TV volume via my Denon).

Now I’m guessing that most have all their junk plugged into their receiver instead (I could be wrong). I believe there are pros and cons of doing it one way vs the other. I don’t believe you can launch apps as easily as I do with the number buttons if you have everything going to the AV unit instead. But, you may get better sound in some cases running everything to the receiver instead of the TV.

I’m very interested in hearing what everybody else does and how it’s working out for you. Thanks.
