Am I still not getting this 'topping' thing right?

I made about seven or so cuts about a week ago - I circled a few of them, but not all cuts that were made.

I get the general concept - more energy redirected to multiple colas instead of just one.

But should I truly 'top' it so that all branches are level, more or less?

This is my first outdoor grow, GG#4, so I appreciate your patience for my novice status. It's a bit older than a month old, grown from a clone.

edit: a bit about me growing! i did this commercially for a couple of years, but it's a different story when you aren't handed the tools, resources, and blueprint! now, i'm growing in my backyard - i already have quite a big garden, where i just enjoyed my first raspberry harvest and have been snacking on juicy strawberries.

in the same way that a store-bought berry - even in season - isn't quite as good as a backyard berry, i'm intrigued to see how growing this cannabis will change my connection to its effect. will it be that much 'sweeter'?

the thing i love about my berries and other harvestable plants is that i'm fairly hands-off, so in asking about this more hands-on strategy, i'm veering away from my MO. curious for other opinions! :)

My submission for the giant foxglove competition

someone had posted a similarly very-tall foxglove in r/pnwgardening or another localized sub, but i'm pretty proud (lol like i had anything to do with it) of this 81"+ plant!

still has a few more buds to go, can it hit 83"?!?!

2026 crawfish check-in: who in the greater PDX area still do crawfish boils?

I went to Skyway Bar and Grill a few years ago for their crawfish boil weekend. Weak sides, decent crawfish (the cooks told me PNWers are afraid of spice in their boils), fairly expensive.

I know there used to be a lot more boils in the area but a number of them didn't survive the pandemic.

Can we get an update on boils folks have been to in the last year, or know about coming up this summer?

At this point, I'm thinking I'm better off buying/renting traps and going out with a small crew to do our own boil - but wanted to check if I've missed any really good boils in the area.

I saw one of the eagles solo around Brooklyn Carreta about 6 weeks ago, flying low around the neighborhood. Then about 4 weeks ago, I saw two bald eagles doing a helical dance in the sky; they would've been just a touch north of Division and 30th St.

Then yesterday morning around 10AM, I saw another pair of bald eagles (presumably the same!) spiraling in the air somewhere around Woodstock (and heading west).

Anyway, I know bald eagles are no stranger to the city, but it *seems* like it's the same individuals/pair that I keep seeing! And I like that.
