Visiting thailand to play snooker

Recently, I started going to the best clubs, by that I mean the best tables. The standard is still dire. My game has taken a hit as I am still adjusting to these tables. The culture is still gross, can't practice solo, most of the times, the clubs are full and it's tough to get good match practice without the pressure of money on the line.

I need a break, I am thinking about visiting Thailand for two weeks to play snooker. What's the best time to visit? I have looked at hiend snooker. Table time starts from 250 baht an hour, which is reasonable. Do they have english speaking coaches there? I'm looking to book a few sessions and practice solo or play frames atleast 4 hrs a day. My budget is 1000 usd. Is it doable?

Living in Thailand to play snooker

I am tired of the snooker culture here in Nepal. I want to get better and I need to play and learn from good players. I can afford a decent life there with my wfh job. I am leaving my full time job though. I am single and don't have any other financial responsibilites.

How expensive are the tables there? I am talking the best tables in clubs like hi-end. Is 700-1000 USD enough to live half decent life and play snooker at least 4 hrs a day?

Do local thai businesses hire non-Thai people? I am a linguist, English-Nepali is my domain. I can go to a school here to learn to make coffee or drinks.

I intend to visit next year around March.

Any opinions/ideas would be of great help to me, thank you!

Just ordered a new cue

Maximus premium, full shaft one piece with plain ebony butt. I'm going for a maiden century as soon as it arrives. I was using a chinese 100 dollar cue for the last 4 years. Loved that but I polished the ferrule way to much and it looks wonky now. Feels like it's time to upgrade. How good are maximus tips, they are quoting 4 dollars a piece, worth it? I'm using century g3.

My Nepali brethren, if you have ordered directly from Maximus, how was the delivery experience? Any taxes?

What does your head in more?

  1. Missing a black off the spot.

  2. Making a mess of a relatively easy safety and leaving an easy chance.

  3. Miscueing.

  4. Going in off after a great pot.

  5. Opponent fluking a crucial ball.

Favorite 147s?

Kirk Stevens white tux in the final against Jimmy is up there for me. The hugs and joyful faces, the crowd went crazy too.

Ronnie's against Ding in the Welsh final, fastest 147 at Crucible of all places. A genius and an enigma. I hope he will have a redemption arc in coming seasons.

Thep vs Ronnie. The fact that he could have played for a few blues to make the break easier as well. Just shows, he is an entertainer and a maverick.
