Best micron size for my setup?

I have well water here in central NC. I have a pretty basic DIY setup with a 50 micron spindown and a single 10" big blue with a 5 micron polypropylene. It has served us well for the last 7-8 years, but I'm wondering if I can make some simple adjustments to improve things.

Clay is our main water contaminant, especially after rain. The PP filter handles this well for the most part. The main issue we see in the actual house is sediment when filling the tub (clay in the house is rare). Whenever we see this, both filters are inevitably clogged and need replacement/cleaning.

Should I perhaps try a different filter on the 10" canister? I know I would benefit from an extra filtration stage, but this requires a bit of re-piping I'd like to avoid.

Pressure regulator for whole zone?

Wondering if I can save a few bucks for a narrow zone which will have around 10 heads and use PS Ultra spray bodies instead of PRS40. Looks like I can get a 1” 40 psi regulator that should work for the gpm in this zone.

Any big downsides here?

I’d go supply -> filter -> valve -> regulator -> zone lines -> ps ultra -> mp rotator nozzles

Monitoring service for SuperLink Gateway?

I stumbled across the entry sensor for the SuperLink system and I felt the sudden urge to ditch my much maligned Ring system.

I love self managed stuff, but one requirement for me for home security is a professionally managed monitor service.

Is there any first party or third party support for this?

Cheers!

Installing poly under 1-3” rock hardscape?

I have a strip of river rock around my pool which I’m adding some plants to. Before the plants go in I’m going to install some drip irrigation mainline. Hoping to go with 1/2” poly since I use it already elsewhere on the property.

Is this stuff sturdy enough to sit under a few inches of river rock? What about with occasional foot traffic?

Pottery Barn sold me a 2k styrofoam table…

We have an “outdoor” concrete top table from PB that is 4 years old and showing some wear. I noticed that the surface felt squishy. As I was repairing an area where the concrete/resin/whatever had failed, I saw this.

Thick spongy open cell styrofoam.

Just annoyed, and felt like sharing. Stay away from PB furniture.

Help ID this rattling?

My 5th gen (2024 ORP with 18k miles) has a noticeable rattling sound. Seems to be mainly associated with speed and vibration, being most noticeable around 40mph

Throttling doesn’t seem to affect it.

Any ideas?
