I added a Daily Smoke Challenge to SmokePractice — try to beat your friends 👀

I’ve posted SmokePractice here before, so I’ll keep this one short.

I just added a Daily Smoke Challenge. Every day, everyone gets the same 5 lineups.

You first get to see the throw — where to stand, what to aim at, and where the smoke lands. Then the preview disappears and you get one attempt to hit each smoke. Takes around 2 minutes, and you get a score at the end.

Try today’s challenge and send your score to a friend you queue with. Let’s see who can get the better score 😄

I also added some things people have been asking for:

  • Import your CS2 crosshair using a share code
  • Use a pro's crosshair/settings
  • Rebind all keys
  • Use your in-game sensitivity
  • Move the viewmodel
  • No account or installation required
  • Once the map is loaded, it can run offline

One important disclaimer: the physics are fitted from pro demos, so they're very close to CS2 but not 100% identical. Mirage and Dust2 are properly checked, while some of the other maps may still have lineups that are slightly off.

If you find a smoke that's wrong, please let me know which one. That's honestly the feedback I need most right now, and I'll fix it.

If you want to follow the project, give feedback, suggest features, or just hang out, we also have a Discord: [Discord link]

Also, I’m keeping track of the first 100 Early Birds 👀
There’ll be some nice perks for the early users as the project grows, so if you want to be part of it, don’t wait too long.

Would love to see some Daily Challenge scores in the comments. 🔥

Big update to my browser CS2 lineup trainer: over 1k lineups, 50 executes and a daily challenge

I posted this here in July and one of the top comments was basically "cool tech demo, but there's nothing to do." Honestly, fair.

At that point you could load Mirage, throw a smoke at nothing and close the tab. So that's what I spent the last three weeks fixing.

smokepractice.com = free, no account, runs in the browser and works on mobile.

What's new:

  • Over 1k lineups across all 9 maps — smokes, flashes and molotovs
  • 53 executes — full sets thrown from one spot, with a timer and par time
  • Daily challenge — same 5 for everyone, streaks and a shareable result card
  • A ghost that shows you the throw, including the keys being pressed
  • Quarter-speed playback so you can actually see what's happening
  • Every lineup gets thrown through the app's own physics before I add it
  • If a throw fails, it now tells you why instead of just saying it failed

How you'd actually use it:

Pick a map, pick a lineup and watch the ghost throw it first.

That part is more useful than it sounds. A lineup written down as coordinates doesn't tell you if you were holding W, tapped D first, jumpthrew off a box, etc. The ghost shows the crosshair, the keys and the whole throw frame by frame, and you can slow it down to 1/4 speed.

Then you stand where the ghost stood, with a ring on the floor and a marker showing where to aim, and just throw it until you get it.

Once you think you've got it, switch to challenge mode. The ring and aim marker disappear, you get 5 lineups and one throw each. It only counts if the smoke actually arrives correctly landing in the right place from the wrong angle doesn't pass, and neither does walking up and dropping one next to the target.

Executes work the same way, just for a full set. 4–6 pieces of utility from roughly the same spot, on a clock. Basically how you'd learn an execute in an empty server, except you don't have to spend 40 seconds running back to spawn after every attempt.

And since it's just a browser tab, you can even learn a set on your phone on the bus and then go try it in an actual match.

If you find a lineup that doesn't work, there's a Discord link on the site. Send it over and I'll check it out.

SmokePractice got a big update: Nuke, Cache, better physics and more

Hey folks!

https://reddit.com/link/1v6zax3/video/2uzg0v3jpjfh1/player

A few weeks ago I shared a browser-based CS2 smoke practice tool I’ve been building.

Since then, I’ve been working on making the simulation closer to the real game.

New update:

🗺️ Added more maps:

  • Nuke
  • Cache
  • Inferno

🎯 Improved grenade physics:

  • better bounces
  • more accurate throws
  • jumpthrow improvements

🔭 Added scope view for easier lineup practice

The goal is to make practicing smokes faster without constantly opening the game or watching YouTube videos.

I’d really appreciate feedback from CS2 players:

  • Do any smokes feel different compared to the real game?
  • Are there maps/features you would like to see next?
  • Any performance issues?

I got tired of practicing smokes in offline servers so I made a browser version

So I've been working on this for a few months now and I think it's finally good enough to show people.

Basically I got sick of booting up CS2 and loading an offline server every time I wanted to practice smokes for like 15 minutes. So I built a site where you just open it and throw. Real Mirage geometry, and I spent way too long getting the grenade physics right - I literally parsed grenade trajectories from real demos and calibrated the throw speed, bounces and jumpthrow timing against them. Jumpthrow is on one key like a bind.

Your throws leave a trail so you can see the arc, you can save lineups and share them with a link, and setpos/setang strings from cs2utils or console work if you paste them in.

Also works on your phone, so you can literally sit at a cafe with your coffee and shisha and grind window smokes. Peak productivity.

It's free, no account or anything: smokepractice.com

Fair warning, it's a beta. Most stuff lands where it should but some weird bounces can still be a bit off, I'm still fixing those. And it's only Mirage for now.

If you try it and find a lineup that lands differently than in-game PLEASE tell me, that's exactly what I need to fix the physics.
Any other feedback welcome too, even if it's "this sucks because X" lol

Made a Chrome extension that finds the match from FACEIT’s “player has been banned” notification

This was something that kept annoying me.

I’d report someone, then a few days later I’d get the “player has been banned, thanks for your report” notification.

The problem is that by then I have no idea which match that player was in.

So I made a small Chrome extension that adds a button to that notification. Click it and it’ll find the match you played with that player and open the FACEIT match room.
It’s free, no login, no account. It only reads your own FACEIT match history in your browser and doesn’t send your data anywhere.

Check it out:
https://www.faceitcheckmate.com/

I’m mainly looking for feedback because so far I’ve only tested it on my own account.
Does it find the correct match?
Any auth errors or other issues?
Is there anything that would make it more useful?
A couple of things I’m thinking about adding are Firefox support and a way to scan recent matches for players who were banned later.
If you give it a try, I’d really appreciate any feedback.
