Why is Yu adorable?

I don’t want to like him. He’s a literal despot. He sends armies to die in wars like pawns, owns slaves, etc etc.

So how come I find him adorable? Is it his grandpa vibe? The way his First Prime obviously loves and protects him, the fact we never see him do anything overtly cruel, the way Earth has tentatively teamed up with him on things (though he’s unreliable)?

They managed to make him the teddy bear of System Lords.

Was there any planned tv shows, story arcs, movies, books, or games for Stargate

I have often wondered this. I love learning about cut content in video games and so I wondered if such material existed for Stargate as a whole. Ideas that were pitched and worked on and maybe got into a rough draft alpha state with actual material that exists whether it be scripts or basic assets.

Bluebrixx SGC beyond the embarkation room

Got myself the embarkation room from bluebrixx a while ago, but it always felt incomplete. So I got myself another one for cheap second hand and used the pieces to build the right hand side corridor and started on building a base for the control room.

Ran out of pieces, so I ordered random cheap grey pieces. Will post updates as I make progress. May have to paint a Walter Minifig myself tho.

Favorite episode?

Hello everyone,

My favorite Stargate SG-1 episode is crystal skull.

Because I really like the mystery surrounding the crystal skull. I enjoy watching the team try to figure out what happened and discover the secrets behind it. I also like the mix of science, adventure, and the unknown. The mystery keeps me interested because you want to find out what is really going on.

What is your favourite SciFi TV show franchise

Mine is most likely Stargate with a special place in my heart for SG-1 followed closely by Battlestar Galactica. These were franchises I watched often with family as a child and as such keep fond memories of. I would like to expand my horizons however and would like to hear your ideas.

What are your thoughts on my Elly De La Cruz card

I know it's probably not the most amazing card I've seen in this subreddit but I always thought it was cool.

Favourite episode of Stargate

What is your favourite episode, mine is unending. I understand that there are other episodes that are generally fan favourites but I feel like this episode gets less credit than it should. It was a very interesting concept that was a nice way to wrap up the show.

Why does the receiving gate spin before receiving a wormhole?

I’ve just finished SG1 and starting on Atlantis. First rewatch since I first watched them 20 years ago.

One thing that keeps bugging me is, why does a gate spin and lock chevrons and such (for a seemingly varying/random length of time) before an incoming wormhole is established?

On the other end, someone is dialling symbols, and then when the full address is locked in the wormhole immediately engages, so at what point is the gate on the other side spinning? Does the gate send the address one symbol at a time while dialling? If so, does that mean other gates with the same starting symbols would also be spinning at first but then stop when there’s deviation?

I’ve always seen it as analogous to an old rotary phone.. but your phone didn’t spin its own dial before receiving a call, it just started ringing.

Accurate

The forehead symbol was pretty easy to make but I might have put it too low
