Alternate Endings?

For those that don't like the finale, what would you have done instead? How would you have ended BSG (2004)?

I am ok with the finale. I have thought about it for 17 years and can't come up with a better ending. I'm curious if anyone has any ideas though.

Best order to watch (again)

I regret not having watched Caprica very First of all. Even though for some it could be tedious. I found it wonderful. The photography incredible, and everything else. But I've watched the rest of BSG like 5 times. Many of the characters are formed or created here and just a bunch of things. Like the Adamas for instance. You really understand his character so much more by meeting his family. His ancestors. The cylons. Their sentience. The skin jobs. The different planets and how different the people are on each one. The racism. Classism. "So say one, so say we all" started here. The start of monotheism.

BSG I: A.E.B. - Galactica Fires Serina's Casket (Concept Art)

Hey everyone. Just thought I would post some concept art for one of the scenes in my Battlestar Galactica: Volume I - An Exodus Begins live-action motion picture that I am hoping to write and maybe direct someday if the powers that be at Comcast/NBC/Universal Studios are feeling up for it. Nothing about this image is original - I simply gathered the elements together in GIMP 2.0, arranged and toned them around as I saw fit, and make of it what you will. But just in case, there is a description below of what is transpiring in the picture above.

In this scene...

A funeral is held centars (hours) after the Battle of the Gehenna Maelstrom and Serina Adama's sacrifice to save the ship as her body is gently placed in an empty antimatter fusion torpedo casing as a casket and then fired by the Galactica into orbit around the newly formed Planet Anastasis. The sounds Galactica makes sound as though she weeps for the loss of Serina too.

For a full breakdown of the movie, visit the Battlestar Galactica I: A.E.B. concept treatment on DeviantArt.

So, the Port side hanger bay stayed a museum/gift shop the entire time?

I watched the whole series when it was being produced and I'm rewatching it for the first time now. And I think I just realized that the hanger bag converted to a museum/gift shop stayed that way the whole series? Am I right?

HOLY SHIT YALL

So, back in the day, i'd catch the last few minutes of BSG before star trek came on. Never really had an interest in BSG.

welp, decided to watch the miniseries, and HOLY SHIT. WHY DID IT TAKE ME THIS LONG TO WATCH IT?!?!?!?!?!?!

Only finished part one (galatica just got nuked and vented crew into space) so far, no spoilers pls. Watch order is the miniseries, then the series? Anything that I should know, or just go in 100% blind?

The S1 E5 Toaster is real!

Thought it was a clever prop that looked like a Cylon. It’s a Dualit Classic 2-Slice Toaster. A black plate was bolted onto it in the show to hide the logo. IRL, the black dial is a timer that makes loud mechanical sounds as it counts down.

So, that evening on New Caprica after The Groundbreaking...

We know Bill and Laura spend the day and evening together...did they spend the whole Night together...even if they didn't "do it", it was clear he was up all night when we saw him the next morning...and if they did "do it", was it the first time...

Battlestar Galactica Fanfic Writing Suggestions

Apparently a lot of people dislike fanon terms.

Gunstar some dislike specifically.

Deadlock worked around that with other types used. Suppose cruiser could be leaned into.

Though now BSG Shattered hopes is using the term Gunstar.

So... Whats the consensus for a BSG fic, Gunstar or "cruiser" and such?

How come no one is making any new Battlestar Galactica? I mean anything, a TV series, a movie, a reboot, a sequel, a prequel, anything?

What Scale were the Nukes used in the Series?

It seems to me that most of the nukes we see are tactical, smaller warheads on the order of 1-100 kilotons.

In the opening miniseries we see with the nuking of Caprica that there are multiple small explosions feeding larger mushroom clouds. Over targeting like this is a common military tactic especially on larger geographic targets like entire cities.

We see Galactica take a direct nuclear hit early on and at least once again during the course of the series. That suggest smaller warheads, designed to take out targets with their radiation as much as with their explosive force. After all, nukes in space don't have a medium like air to carry a shockwave. Galactica's armor and double hull likely took the brunt of those attacks, and the amazing part is that they held.

The attack that seems to do the most damage to Galactica is Boomer's jump when stealing Hera. The raptor's jump engines in close proximity to the hull tear a twenty foot hole in Galactica's side. Galactica clear wasn't built to hand spatial distortions as well as she was nuclear blasts.

We see a nuke can be really effective, taking out the resurrection ship with one warhead, and the nuke that went off in the tightly packed fleet above New Caprica was devestating.

However big targets like Galactica and the Hub are routinely targeted with multiple nukes.

As an aside, do you think Pegasus or Valkyrie's hulls would have handled nukes or spatial distortion differently?

Spoiler: Did the Cylons know/expect/help Gallactica to survive?

There were five final (single copies) of the creating cylons. All of them ended up on Gallactica and four of five were assigned to Gallactica. To our knowledge all other Battlestars except Pegasus were destroyed. So was it just really lucky that all of the final five were on Gallactica or do you think it was a grand plan to put them on Gallactica and then let it escape?

In the season 1 finale, if you were a character on the show, would you have sided with Commander Adama when he staged a coup against Roslin?

Honestly, sending away Starbuck and the Cylon Raider, already a very risky decision, to find the spear, which they were only marginally sure would help the fleet, had to have been one of Roslin's most frustrating decisions in the show.
