Is this film really rising in popularity lately?!

I know how controversial this film is. I get it’s not really Godzilla. But I’ve always loved it. I guess because I saw and watched it so much as a kid and anything you watch then is fun. To this day though I still enjoy the heck out of it. Legendary Pictures and Minus One though captured the actual spirt of Godzilla. But I really can’t believe this film keeps popping up lately. Can this really be real?!

I have never seen a more pitiful looking homeless person before.

I’ve seen many. I’ve read some aren’t even homeless. They just pretend for money. The ones that are though you can usually tell. But this woman? Oh my god I was just heartbroken when I saw her.

I had been debating whether to buy a foot rest for under my computer desk or an ab roller. Look at me and my stressful life! I decided to go into one of those discount grocery stores. Upon coming out I hear someone tell a lady walking in nice dress. I look back and see her. Probably 100 lbs, barely any hair, raggedy cloths, pale skin, and definitely mentally ill. Whether she was on drugs or not it didn’t make a difference to me because she looked beyond desolate.

She asked me for a few dollars for food. I gave her the $20 I had, began to drive away, and decided to giver her the other $20 I had. I’m not trying to make myself look good or seem righteous. I just wanted to share how whenever I think my life is hard, I see or meet someone way worse off then me.

Everything is so relative. It’s hard to know what to think or do!

Im 31 and I woke up and pretty much all day I was panicking! I started second guessing myself on everything. My life, my thoughts, my experiences. Even writing this is causing me anxiety! There’s so many different choices. So many different people and different things you could say to them. Sometimes it goes well, but most of the time it goes bad. I don’t wake up everyday and set out to hurt anyone. I actually want to do good things. But it’s like bad things just happen. And for no reason! Or people get angry with you over nothing. I don’t know. People in my life seem to put me down over anything. A former boss one time even criticized me for spending money on a wrap for lunch! Girls seem to reject me over misunderstandings. I’ve dated 4 girls in my life and it was like they just created arguments out of thin air. Not saying I didn’t make mistakes with them. I did. But the last girl I dated got offended at me for sending her an emoji! I broke with her right then and there. Or my dad beat me one time for pointing a nerf gun at him. Granted I don’t talk to him anymore but experiences like that have really shaped my mental state. There’s a lot going on then just what I’ve typed today, but does anyone else feel this way?

One line spoken here I never realized!

Gosh this film is brilliant! I’m discovering something new about it all the time. Earlier in The Dark Knight a minor plot point is the copycats. They’re obviously well intentioned but deeply flawed. Since they lack the proper resources or training Bruce has.

But this scene here proves even more how him and the Joker are even more so alike. The Joker too also has copycats! What Bruce says about Thomas Shift “a paranoid schizophrenic. The kind of mind the Joker attracts.” While I’m sure the Joker makes sure his goons are payed for their loyalty, some of them are also following him because they identify with him! I just thought that was brilliant writing!

What are some of the best film endings?

This will definitely be relative but I don’t care. Tell me your perfect movie endings! I got several. Nothing against happy endings but I enjoy one that ends with ambiguity like The Thing. After everything they go through how it ends with only two survivors. They’ve seemingly defeated the creature but at what cost? What can they do? Where can they go? And could they even be sure it’s all dead? How it just ends so uncertain coupled with that theme is just perfection!

Others of course are Jaws which is still the standard for triumph.

The Fly for absolute tragedy.

And The Dark Knight for even though he lost he’s still gonna do the right thing.

Just watched it and honestly it wasn’t that bad!

Maybe because the reviews were so terrible I went in with low expectations. But I found it pretty enjoyable. Not among the best like Winter Soldier or Avengers 1, but nowhere the bottom like Eternals and Thor Love and Thunder.

The pacing moves pretty quick. Mackie and Ford turn in excellent performances, the actions scenes are often and grand. The Red Hulk only shows up at the end, but it gave me a pretty good Hulk destruction sequence I haven’t seen since the original Avengers! I know a lot of people were disappointed with Giancarlo Esposito’s screen time. But he was an interesting little villain. And honestly I found the politics pretty interesting! Not normally something I care about. In film or in general. But I thought it worked here.

My biggest grip here of course is we didn’t get to see Bruce Banner involved at all. I know there’s problems with his rights and all. But his presence felt very missed. Especially with two infamous villains of his. And while Tim Nelson wasn’t bad per se, I really didn’t feel much menace from a character as big as he was playing.

I had one of the most disturbing dreams ever last night. Warning for graphic content

I really need to tell someone about this. I can’t tell anyone I’m close to because it will most likely disturb them about me. For years I was addicted to pornography. I don’t want to get into specifics but I’m a straight male and i always kept that in line with it. While it’s all awful content I never watched anything too out there. Never any gangs, scat, animal, gay, or the worst of the worst. CP. It took me many years to quit and while I no longer do so, the memories are always there. I wish I could not think about them but I guess they’ll just be there forever. But this dream? Beyond awful. It was a man penetrating a woman anally, but so aggressively there was feces leaking out. I woke up and was horrified! I don’t think I’ve seen a more disturbing image in my dreams or my life. Regardless of that kind of thing happens in pornography, I don’t want to know. I just want to vent how awful I feel seeing it.

I love this fight scene for several reasons!

I know people say Max wasn’t really the protagonist of the film and Furiosa was. I won’t argue she’s not but I don’t think it’s fair to say he isn’t either. Some always point out she’s the one that kills the main villain Immortian Joe, which is true. But Max still has his big final showdown here fighting Rictus, Joe’s less intelligent but still just as dangerous son. While he has help with it, so does Furiosa. So I just thought it was nice to also give him a big boss fight. Plus even though it’s pretty short, it still feels pretty impactful. This guy’s pretty much a walking tank! And Max is still brave enough to take him on. Just a great moment.

IJW: Innerspace (1997)

I can’t believe I never saw this film before! I’m now 31 and my parents never told me about it. My dad being the film buff he is surely saw it. This is certainly the type of film I would have enjoyed as a kid… and now that I’m an adult it’s the type of film that just makes depressed. Let me elaborate. It has several funny moments, the cast looks like they’re having fun, and the plot moves at a pretty fast pace. Martin Short definitely is pretty zany here. Him escaping from the ice truck was probably the funniest part. But it has that feel good, happy go lucky feel to it. So much now that I’m an adult and experienced how bitter life really is, I just can’t enjoy this type of film anymore. I guess this isn’t the film’s fault. Just my own cynicism. But hey if you’re not depressed like me or a kid, maybe you’ll enjoy this.

One moment in Pet Semetary that to this day has disturbed me more than anything!

Obviously it has to do with Zelda. Still one of the creepiest characters I think anyone has seen. The first flashback she can hardly move. Which she’s creepy looking but disabled. So it’s not too bad at first. But the next she suddenly just shoots up out of bed… 😱🫣🫪 that one moment has been burned into my brain for all time. It was so unexpected and unnatural. I saw it when I was like 17 and am now 31. Ive seen practically most famous horror films and am not easily scared. But that’s one moment to this day I can’t bring myself to rewatch.

Even 18 years later, there’s three unappreciated things that stand out to me about The Dark Knight.

What can be said about this film that hasn’t already? The action, the Joker, Christian Bale, the music. But there’s three I think aren’t talked about enough that also make it great.

  1. The tone is dark and gritty but fun! Man of Steel and BvS tried to be dark and gritty like TDK. And sure they might have. But they were only that. Dark, gritty, and somber. No sense of joy. The Dark Knight is definitely one of the darkest and most intense superhero films ever made. But it’s also incredibly fun! The pacing moves briskly, and there’s a real sense of adventure throughout. Similar to say Raiders or Jaws. It’s ridiculously entertaining.

  2. The main roles are excellent, but even the bit parts are. All of the side characters themselves are also iconic. And some of them actually look like normal people. They’re not all super model level actors. Sal Moronie, the Russian, Gambol, Thomas Shift, the bank manager, the other clowns, the cops in the major crimes unit, Lau, even the guy who was gonna pull the pin on the ferry. He himself makes you wonder if he’s had something tragic happen to him. Hence his readiness to pull it.

  3. The script has a few inconsistencies but is still excellent. Granted to this day there’s a few parts I’ll never understand. The gun casing experiment, the 5 people Dent killed. But other than that how it sets up and intertwines all the storylines is incredible. So many things happen on screen, sometimes all at once, and it sticks the landing almost every time. And every line is also excellent. Even little jokes like Bruce making a dig at Harvey at the party about his “godawful campaign” slogan is underhanded but pretty funny. One line confused me for years. Sal saying “I thought the DA just played golf with the mayor.” Until someone pointed out how he’s surprised how forceful they’re being.

I could go on and on but I’ll end it there. Great film!

Am I overreacting to my mom posting things I send her on Facebook?

My mom has always been very active on Facebook. I had it when I was like 19 but deleted it and never had any desire for it again. I just find it too stressful and like my privacy. Plus I have depression and just found it easier to manage without it. I’m now 31 and have just found out almost every little thing I send her she immediately posts! It’s nothing outrageously embarrassing or private. I got 2 cats and sent her pictures of them. When my now ex girlfriend came to visit we took some pictures, and I sent her a little funny video of me at a work party. But I really just thought this was stuff between me and her. So I don’t know. Should I ask her not to or just let it go?

Just finished Monarch Season 2 and was surprised how much I liked it!

Season 1 wasn’t too bad either. But I actually felt season 2 improved it a little. For anyone expecting a show about Godzilla and other giant monsters will probably be disappointed. Not to say they’re not there. They are but used very sparingly. But this is more of the behind the scenes world they exist in. And it actually works!

I actually find myself getting invested in the characters and their arcs. Not that it’s perfect. I honestly don’t care too much for May and Cate. Not that the actors are bad but… I don’t know. I just don’t find them interesting. Kentaro’s a little better but kinda bland. But his father, his grandmother, Tim, Bill, and of course both versions of Lee are much more interesting.

And surprisingly I also found Isabela pretty interesting! She just seems much more layered. Like she should be a villain but actually isn’t. I’m curious to see what her and Kentaro are gonna end up doing.

And I can’t get over how big the budget is! The sets, effects, and cgi look just like a film. And like I said the monsters are used sparingly but when they do show up it’s glorious. The last fight for example manages to have good shots of them and incorporates the humans at the same time way better than the awfully edited King of the Monsters.

Anyways just wanted to share my two cents. Very looking forward to season 3 and hope we get plenty more of media within this franchise. Maybe not an over abundance like Marvel but can’t wait for more.

With The Shark that Roared coming out, I want a documentary on Jaws 3 next!

I guess it’s debated which is worse. 3 or 4. Neither are great films and could ever match the original. But they’re just so bad they can be pretty entertaining. But I want to see what went on behind the scenes of 3. Just some of the pictures of the sets and the puppets look really fascinating! It looks they actually made a shark animatronic that big. And maybe reveal how they were experimenting with this then new 3-D technology that obviously didn’t work well. And how originally it was supposed to be a spoof film. I really want to know what happened.

I can vaguely describe it. It was in the mid 2000s. From what I can remember it was a poster of a shaved man’s head but looked like a a giant lawn. And that’s all I got. I wish I could know what movie it was advertising.

I know I know Heat has a novel sequel coming out soon. But I was reading about the film and never knew it was partially based on a true story. Robert De Niro’s character was a real guy who actually went to the same prison, met the detective in a coffee shop, engaged in a big shootout in the streets with each other, and was eventually shot by him. I can’t find a book based on it. So could anyone recommend me some? I guess fiction is fine too. Any books based on career criminals or big elaborate heists.

I’m confused. It says it was released on it but can’t find it anywhere on the PlayStation network. I know the original is so what am I missing here?

I’d say about 95% of the film is fantastic! The acting, the purposely ugly cinematography, the futuristic but semi still realistic future, the action scenes, especially the Spyder scene, the twist ending. But once it gets to that last reel… up until this point the film is dark and ominous. But here it’s like Spielberg just throws out everything and says end on a fairy tale ending.
The plot is wrapped up too easily. John and wife get back together and decide to have another kid, the precogs are released to their own safe haven, all the inmates are released, and the program is shut down. I know this is already a common criticism but I just had to express it as well. Still a great film don’t get me wrong though.

I’m currently reading up on both. I just discovered them! Yeah I know late to the game. But I’m reading Steel Rift is much more faster paced and streamlined compared to Battletech. So if you played it would you say you no longer need Battletech? Or do you still prefer the more complex rules?

Obviously I know of survival ones like Alien, The Thing, Nemesis. And I’ve heard they can be played solo. I don’t know maybe this is the same. I want one I can play solo but maybe has multiple characters pieces. Like if I control a group of people and try to get them through to the end. Maybe some or all die off along the way. If that makes sense.
