I am completely and utterly lost regarding Absolute Green Lantern. All the other Absolute series are making sense, but GL is just incoherent to me

I feel like I should know all the lore of mainline GL to understand the Absolute version, but that isn’t the case with any other Absolute title. I feel completely lost with Absolute Green Lantern, it isn’t making any sense to me since like issue 10. It was nicely mysterious up until about that point, but then it got, as I said in the title, completely incoherent to me.

Am I the only one? Do I need to understand the mainline version of GL to understand the Absolute one?

Critique Corner #1 | Post your Lego photos that you were never happy with and let’s discuss with other members of this sub what can be changed to make them better!

For example this picture - I had this idea in my head for the longest time, but I am not very happy with the final result. What should I change?

What do you think is the best “mech” universe? Can be anything - a series of books, games, movies, etc.

u/Vondrr — 1 day ago

You've been hired by the LEGO group to make a prototype lego-based board game to expand their customer base. No theme or setting is off-limits. You have to deliver your prototype in 3 months. What is your idea?

u/Vondrr — 1 day ago

Where/how do you usually design your own spaceships? In a specific game, on paper, through a 3D modeling software, or any other way?

I use Bricklink Studio, as I mostly design my spaceships in Lego.

Did you know that we are now on Instagram too? It was initially meant to show off our original Lego "artsy" photographs, but we would like to make it into a fully fledged Lego account, spotlighting the winning builds from our build challenges. It would make us incredibly happy if you followed it!

July 2026 Miniature Build Challenge: “Beastman”

Let's kick off our very first monthly build challenge on r/LegoWarhammer!

Each month, Games Workshop gives away a free Miniature of the Month in participating Warhammer stores. For July, it's:

Beastman

Your challenge is to recreate this month's free miniature as a Lego build while keeping it suitable for tabletop play. Try to capture the character, silhouette, and personality of the original model, but in Lego form.

Rules:

  • Your build must represent the July Miniature of the Month: Beastman
  • Your model must be built in tabletop scale (roughly comparable in size to standard Warhammer miniatures)
  • You may submit 1 entry only
  • You can build it in Studio using non-existing colors
  • Third party bricks allowed
  • Post your entry using the "Build Challenge Entry" post flair
  • You have until Tuesday, July 21st to submit your entries

Once the challenge ends, we'll post a community poll so everyone can vote for their favorite build.

The winner will receive a unique User Flair to show off on r/LegoWarhammer, and their creation will be featured on our Instagram.

Good luck!

My Lego Photography Process | From the POV of a complete beginner

Even though I am fairly new to Lego photography, I would still like to share my process here to maybe discuss it with you all, streamline it a little and put my thoughts together to kinda understand myself better.

All my photos begin with an emotion I want to invoke with the final picture. I am mostly all about mystery as can be seen in the photos linked at the bottom. The astronaut is slowly becoming my main character and that is because I love space, and I also love mysteries set in space (films or shows). Close to my heart you can say.

First of all, I always try to think about what I have at home that can be used for creating an interesting picture. Lately, my mind comes to my LED lightsabers I bought for a lot of money years ago. I realized they could be used to actually light up my scenes instead of collecting dust on my shelf. And they do create some incredible lighting in my scenes - their power and color can be set to pretty much anything you desire. A new life for my little toys.

Then I realized I can have my own cyclorama wall (that big white background that’s curved in the back so that actors or models look like they are in a big white room) by using my son’s white playdough mat. It’s big enough for my Lego minifigures to give me exactly the effect I want. I just use weights to hold it in place while it’s leaning on a wall. When I’m done, it can be returned to my kid again.

And I also have a 14.6-inch tablet that is just perfect for any scifi or fantasy background I might ever need for my minifigs. There are many royalty free websites with pictures you can use, so this issue is gone too.

Then it’s about playing with the setup. Although I do have ideas about the composition in my head before starting, they rarely work irl. I remake the setup several times, take the photos even when I am not 100% happy with how it looks at the given moment, and work like that until I feel like I’ve achieved what I needed or until I tell myself to stop because the setup is simply not working for what I wanted to invoke.

Before getting to my last point, I will briefly touch on the “take the photos even when I am not 100% happy with how it looks at the given moment” part again. It happened to me several times already that I stopped taking photos of the scene I set up because I felt like it wasn’t good enough, and then, like that evening or the next day, I looked at the “not-good-enough” pics again and I discovered they actually looked so good that I then made them into the final product of the photoshoot. Fresh eyes I guess? No idea, but it can totally happen that you feel like the pics aren’t good enough only for the future you to take that back.

And now for the last point - post process. This might be controversial, but I am taking all my photos on my 6 years old Samsung phone that has a cool PRO mode where you can set every single small thing manually before taking the pic. No automatic focus, shutter speed, filters, etc. All up to you. And I love that. And the other controversial part is that I am also editing all my pictures on that same phone. The only things I change are colors and sharpness. Nothing else. Then I release the pictures into the wild.

And that’s pretty much it! Thank you for reading, I hope it brought you at least some value.

Distress signal Received !

What was supposed to be a routine exploration on an uncharted planet quickly turned into a fight for survival. 👨‍🚀🌌

An unknown lifeform emerged from the dust. Fast. Silent. Relentless. 🕷️👽
Sometimes the bravest decision isn't to fight... It's knowing when to run. 🚀💨

July 2026 Build Challenge with r/LegoSpace: “Insectoid Spaceship” 🪰

You liked the previous build challenge, so here we are with another for July!

This time, we are collabing with r/LegoSpace!

r/LegoSpace is about classic space themes, including the one we've chosen for this month:

“Insectoid Spaceship”

Instructions:

  • The spaceship doesn't have to closely resemble any of the existing Insectoids sets, but it needs to have at least one of the distinct "insectoid" features, such as antennae, wings, elytres (yeah I had to google this one), compound eyes, or any other insect-like feature(s). Surprise us!
  • Every entry has to be exactly 1 spaceship, not more, not less
  • No maximum or minimum number of pieces. Your build can be as big or as small as you want
  • The builds can be made in Studio, but bonus points (although totally imaginary) if built irl
  • You can post as many as 3 entries
  • The entry can't be an exact (or too close of a) copy of any of the existing Insectoids sets
  • No need to post the build to both subreddits - pick one and that's enough

You have until Tuesday, July 21st to post your entries with the “Build Challenge Entry” post flair.

In the end, it will be you, the members of this (and r/LegoSpace's) sub, who will be choosing the final winner. At the end of July, a poll with the entries will be posted so that you can decide what the best build is.

The winner will get a unique user flair on both subreddits - r/LegoSpace & r/LegoSpaceships.

Come at us with your Insectoid Spaceships!!!

July 2026 Build Challenge with r/LegoSpaceships: “Insectoid Spaceship” 🪰

We are collabing with r/LegoSpaceships to bring you a cool build challenge for July!

r/LegoSpaceships is exactly what the name suggests - cool Lego Spaceship builds.

Joined with r/LegoSpace, you might already have a guess about what the theme of this little build challenge could be. We thought very hard about it, and due to its distinctiveness, we have chosen to go with:

“Insectoid Spaceship”

Instructions:

  • The spaceship doesn't have to closely resemble any of the existing Insectoids sets, but it needs to have at least one of the distinct "insectoid" features, such as antennae, wings, elytres (yeah I had to google this one), compound eyes, or any other insect-like feature(s). Surprise us!

  • You can post as many as 3 entries
  • The entry can't be an exact (or too close of a) copy of any of the existing Insectoids sets
  • No need to post the build to both subreddits - pick one and that's enough. But you can for sure cross-post if you want

You have until Tuesday, July 21st to post your entries with the “Build Challenge Entry” post flair.

In the end, it will be you, the members of this (and r/LegoSpaceships') sub, who will be choosing the final winner. At the end of July, a poll with the entries will be posted so that you can decide what the best build is.

The winner will get a unique user flair on both subreddits - r/LegoSpace & r/LegoSpaceships.

July 2026 Mech Build Challenge: “Jaeger”

Let's begin with our first build challenge in r/LegoMechs!!! I have no idea how successful this will be, if at all, so let's wait and see!

The theme for July is:

“Jaeger”

In this first build challenge, we want to see mechs that require two or more pilots to operate. Think Jaegers from Pacific Rim, Megazords from Power Rangers, Voltron, Combattler V, Dancouga, or any original concept where teamwork is required to control a giant machine.

Rules:

  • Your mech must require at least 2 pilots to operate
  • You need to include a picture where the pilot seats / places will be visible
  • Your mechs don't need to be minifigure sized - they can support microfigures or pretty much any other-sized humanoid pilots.
  • You can post as many as 3 entries
  • It needs to be original, something you haven't posted here (or anywhere else) before

You have until Tuesday, July 21st to post your entries with the "Build Challenge Entry" post flair.

And when July 21st (or 22nd actually) comes, a poll will be posted so that you can decide what the best build is.

The winner will get a unique User Flair they will be able to show off on r/LegoMechs, and their creation will be spotlighted on our Instagram.

Big thanks to u/Rockets_Everywhere for letting us use their incredible Gipsy Danger MOC for this announcement.

Let's see your Jaegers!
