Any good books for Spanish guitar (beginner)

Hello, is there any good book for Spanish guitar (beginner), in the style of Dummies/Idiot's Guide/Demystified? I'm not a complete guitar beginner, but I'd like a step-by-step into Spanish guitar, hopefully with some more or less famous pieces as samples (and in somewhat increasing level of difficulty), like Tarrega Study in E Minor to maybe(!) Sor Opus n.13, op.35. Thank you.

Difference in web address

This isn't really important, just my curiosity: What's the difference between sub.website.com and www.website.com/sub? I have no idea about how the internet really works, internet organization, etc., so please ELI5... Thank you.

Android Z machine/TADS interpreter

I tried to search this group, but most posts are several years old, so asking: Is there a good and free Z machine (for .Z# files) and/or TADS (for .GAM files) interpreter for Android? I don't need fancy (it's only text after all). Thank you.

Parental controls for Google Chrome

Hello group, I'm looking for help on this: My daughter is 10 and she uses my computer for things like Duolingo, chess, logging reading minutes and, most importantly, doing schoolwork. The other day I happened to walk by her and saw her screen and she had been distracted I guess because she immediately clicked it away. I'm pretty sure I know what she was doing (watching silly youtubes), I know I could check the history (I don't think she knows that there is such a thing, much less how to delete it), but I also don't want to spy on her...

Long story short, can anyone please give me some inputs on parental controls, esp. for Chrome? A long time ago someone said they use a system where anytime their kid wants to access a new website, they get a text where they can approve or reject access to that website.

My main worries are:

  1. Access to google. She can search for whatever and then how do I know the results she wants to click on are "acceptable"? I'm not sure I trust Chrome's own "parental controls" (the ones where they blotch out pr0n, gore, etc.)...

  2. Youtube. We all know that there's stuff there that's not appropriate, but how can I block things without completely blocking youtube?

  3. Another thing is that I have multiple browsers on the computer, and even though hers is Chrome, she might use one of the others and then how do I apply controls for all those others? I've been thinking to use a portable browser for myself (Firefox) but Edge is on there no matter what.

What are people here doing for this? Any insights and help would be appreciated. Obviously I'm a concerned parent, I do understand that eventually she will gain access to all the horrors on the internet but I'd like to exert some control for now... without being too restrictive. Hope parents here can kinda understand my situation.

Thank you all.

Adventure games for a 10yo?

Hello all, I recently posted a question over at /interactivefiction, asking for an IF games suitable for my 10yo daughter. I'm now asking here for suitable Adventure games, inspired by the fact that she just got some of those choose-your-own-adventure books. So I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for what Adventures would be suitable for a kid her age, with no previous background in "adventuring". I dabbled with playing Adventures in the late 80's/early '90s and I'm totally out of it since then. Some requirements would be that it's free (since I don't know how long she would keep playing), doesn't need an all-new gaming computer, would hopefully be offline (so she doesn't have to connect to the internet... this thought still gives me the creeps), and lastly dragons and/or owls would be appreciated. I don't mind the ol' DOS games (I mostly know my way around DosBox) but I don't really remember the Classics and how difficult they are... I don't think they were intended for kids. Thank you.

VPN keeping my data private?

Can someone please explain how a VPN actually keeps my internet "private"? Does not my ISP still get everything I do and, if I went to illegal websites, posted illegal stuff etc., would they not see it even if I use a VPN? If so, then what's the point? Can someone ELI5 this to me? TIA.

Where to buy an Optimist?

Basically the title. This probably sounds like a troll, but honestly, if I wanted to buy an Optimist (or at least a complete rig) new, where would I go? Honest question.

<edit> I'm close to Charleston, SC.

IF for 10yo?

Hello all, I recently posted a question over at CRPG, asking for a CRPG suitable for my 10yo daughter. One of the respondents suggested trying IF, which is a great idea because she just got some of those choose-your-own-adventure books. So I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for what IF game/s would be suitable for a kid her age, with no previous background in IF. I thought about Wishbringer, which is supposed to be "beginner", but I think they implied "for grown-ups". I dabbled with playing IF on the late '90s and early '00s, so I have the Z machine and TADS interpreters, and would prefer if files were available in either format. Also, if possible and since I don't know if she will actually enjoy it, it would be great if it was freely available. Lastly, offline would be good. Thank you.

Lubricant oil vs dry film

Hello, I need some input from the esteemed community: My main garage door slides up when opening, and there is always a major "breakoff bang" when the gate breaks free from the little plastic strips that cover the gap on the sides; somehow they seem to get stuck toi the door overnight. The bang is really serious and I'm afraid sooner or later the strips will break off. I've cleaned the strips but the effect comes back after a while. I've used some grease but over time that made it worse because it collects dirt and dust and when that dries, it makes things even worse. Someone suggested dry film spray because it would "grease" the strip but not attract dirt and dust. When I search for "dry film" on the Lowes website, it also shows WD40, which has not worked previously due to the dirt&dust issue. Can someone please recommend something that improves the gliding but does not attract dirt&dust and does not get sticky over time? Much appreciated, TYIA.

Introducing 10yo to CRPG

Hello, I'm thinking to introduce my (almost) 10yo daughter to CRPGs. She's been playing some kiddie online CRPG provided by her school, where she walks around a pixelated fantasy world and has to collect treasures, solve simple puzzles, and occasionally talk to NPCs. So now I'm wondering what I could show her. I was thinking about King of Dragon Pass, but that's way too involved and complex, plus it's kind of a sim vs an actual CRPG. Some requirements would be that it's free (since I don't know how long she would keep playing), doesn't need an all-new gaming computer, would hopefully be offline (so she doesn't have to connect to the internet... this thought still gives me the creeps), and lastly dragons would be appreciated 😄 TYIA.

Individual contributor

Can someone please tell me what an "individual contributor" is? How is that defined? It's not an "official" position, I think, but what defines this role? When is one an IC? Any insights welcome. Thank you.

Sorry if this has been asked before but here goes:

Is there any free Windows software (best portable, i.e. no installation necessary) that can search 2 directories and find "same" pictures even when they have different resolutions? And then ideally delete those matches in one of the directories (that I can hopefully specify)?

Thank you.
