Hi everyone, I have a 5 y/o orange male kitty who got diagnosed with gastroenteritis earlier this week after pooping some blood. We’ve been to the vet, they did labs, fecal exam, X-rays, etc. Everything came back normal except the diarrhea in his belly on the Xray. We got probiotics and an appetite stimulant to take home and they gave him an anti-nausea injection at the vet. They didn’t give fluids because he haaaates the vet and I wasn’t able to give gabapentin so he was a little spicy, and his vet wanted to prioritize the anti-nausea over fluids because his skin wasn’t staying super tented so she wasn’t very worried about dehydration. Anyway, now that he’s home, he’s only gotten 2 doses of the probiotic because he won’t eat so I’ve mixed them with water and force fed them to him. He did eat a churu with probiotics mixed in today, and some dry food but he won’t eat his wet food. He just seems not himself and it’s so hard to watch. I’m wondering how long it will take for him to get some energy back and start eating again? It’s been about 24 hours since he’s had a full dose of probiotics, and he still is just sluggish and sleepy and not really eating (he’s normally very food motivated). He seems to be getting a little better but I am so SO anxious and I want him to be okay ☹️ thank you all!
