Wedding gift for my best friend

I’m about a year and a half into sewing so this was a big project for me. Took about 6 weeks from start to finish. I didn’t realize how much time would be spent washing, drying, ironing, prepping, measuring, cutting, clipping, ironing again.. all before getting to the actual hard part: sewing a fully lined 12oz canvas tote with a Singer HD. The pattern is based on other totes I’ve made before but made adjustments and additions for this project.

The goal was to make a set of two XL zippered totes and two standard totes in stone-washed harbor blue 12oz canvas. I wanted the stone wash so they will wear in visually and hopefully last a lifetime. I ended up making a prototype of each in standard 12oz canvas and then another in the harbor blue before actually starting on the 4 final bags.

I had custom labels made for them for the liner, which miraculously lined up pretty straight against the zipper flap without being covered up. That was probably my proudest moment lol

I included canvas wrapped corrugated plastic for stability in the bottom, and inside zipper pocket on the XL bags. It was my first inset zipper

Coincidentally this color blue was the color of their wedding, so it should remind them of that beautiful day whenever they use them. The blue never looks the same in pictures, sometimes is gray, blue, or purple lol

edit: Thank you for all the positivity and kind comments, made my day!!

info on the pattern:

It was a video from YouTube I followed for the main bag design, the zipper gusset and inset zipper were separate videos I used. I made a guide for myself to follow based on the main bag design, but I am not sure if I can post it due to the subreddit rules. I posted it in the comments in some of the replies

Crossbody bag for a friend

Had a fun time creating this crossbody bag to the dimensions requested from a friend. I had made a Fanny pack with a water bottle holder that I shared a year ago and my friend said they loved it but didn’t want the water bottle holder. It was my first time doing a custom bag for another person. I didn’t use any patterns and just winged it. It’s just box pouch with a zipper on the back for a phone. I had to make 2 prototypes before I had the confidence to create the final and there’s still some mistake areas but I am happy with how it turned out. My favorite part is the back outer panel with the mesh next to the zipper panel

Outer - XPac VX21 body

Liner - 1.1oz silpoly

Back - 1/4” 3D Spacer Mesh

Mesh pocket - 0.7oz Monolite ripstop nylon mesh

HHH water resistant zippers

Packages left at shipping center, only open on weekdays during my work schedule

There is nothing I can do about this, is there? Sometimes they’ll leave it at a UPS store, but mostly it’s this mom and pop shop that has short open hours and closed on weekends. Sucks for me, pretty much? They don’t even open until 10am so I can’t go before work and they close at 5pm in the middle of Koreatown Los Angeles so tough to get there by then

I’ve had 5 game groups in the last 15 years. Every one was made up of my friends that I turned gamers. You can only ever get so deep with an uninvested casual group and I have accepted that wholeheartedly. I really just enjoy gaming with friends, regardless of game complexity.

I actually don’t even know if the group will be receptive to this game between wine and the rule set but I am going to try my best to make it easy and digestible. 50% of the group was involved in this game purchase so I’ve got an edge on success lol. it’s not just me bringing it like every other game (I always make sure it’ll be a game that the group will likely enjoy).

I’ve only ever played on steam against the computer. Any teach tips?
