I volunteer at a rescue that has a special indoor/outdoor space for feral cats. I didn’t expect them to steal my heart the way they have, but I love them like they’re my own ❤️🐾

A lot of these kitties are feral or semi-feral and unable to live in the “wild” due to age or health conditions. Many have spent their whole lives outdoors (or have survived the worst of humanity 😢) and are happiest being independent - so the rescue I volunteer for created this unique space where they’re free to live their lives outdoors but have shelter to take refuge in when weather gets bad. They get routine vet care and lots of gentle, patient love from humans. I’ve been volunteering for almost a year and it has been the best feeling in the world to earn their trust. Many of them, after they get used to a caretaker, really warm up and allow pets, snuggles, and play. I love our feral kids so much and just wanted to share them. I’m really glad I volunteer for a place that takes in even the most broken, battered souls and doesn’t give up on them!
