hello everyone, i've been staring at this wip for hours and i dont know if the anatomy is correct or not, i usually like to create my own references and take pictures of myself but this is a hard angle/pose for that. i'm kinda happy with how it looks and flows rn but i fear i can be blind to my own mistakes sometimes when i dont have a ref to look at, and only notice these mistakes when it's too late.

i almost always struggle with the neck/shoulder area and tend to make the neck too short especially in awkward angles like this one.

the hands i think are easy to fix but the issue is the length and rotation of the arms/elbows.
the character is supposed to hold a big bow and arrow and holding the arrow like a spear

self taught artist here! ive been feeling way too comfortable with my art lately and i dont like that, i want to be challenged and improve in areas i feel i'm blind to or never noticed.

i'd really really appreciate it if someone could pinpoint some areas that need work or which of the fundamentals i should focus more on.

i put examples of different types/styles of artworks i've done from this year and last year.

its a wip but i'm always overthinking the composition to the point where it doesn't make sense to me anymore and i start seeing random shapes & colors.

the focus points are the fish's cyan eye, the face of the character, and lastly the hand to make a loop (i will readjust the colors/values so everything is desaturated beside the cyan and orange going from the fish to the character's hand), the eye and face both fall in 2 points of the rule of thirds grid. for the background it will have fish scales and water but not too much for it to be a distraction.

the issue is that i always think the composition looks forced(?) like yeah it follows the rule but it doesnt look natural somehow.

he likes hanging out with charles vane & hatsune miku
