Unpopular opinion : The romanticization of mental health issues
One of the main aspects of being clinically depressed, having any kind of phobia, having behavioral issues like OCD, OCPD,ADHD is that you will be extremely insecure about your condition in public. Because having these conditions means you will be your own biggest criticizer and your mind voice will constantly remind you that none of these issues are real, you are simply faking it and also, the public can see through your act. So your whole routine will revolve around how you cover up these traits, desperate attempts to get along with people or totally avoiding situations that involves interacting with people.
Then I see people proudly flaunting these conditions in public. I totally understand a desperate plea/call for help, a desperate attempt to express what's wrong in their head but not a proud flaunting. You are expressing your condition as something you overcame means you dont have that toxic conditions on you anymore. Stop romanticizing mental health issues.

One of the best elevating music by Ilayaraja. Something you wish to see in a 1000 crore epic movie. Sadly, only a very poor audio quality version of this is available in internet
One of the craziest ARR compositions ever. It was like ARR and SJS were competing like who is going to come up with crazier ideas. End result is a song that goes so unusually through different genres, singing techniques and weird but intriguing sounding techniques. The song video is ..well

Unthan desathin kural........
For me the most 'orgasmic' music moment ever is when ARR shifts to tamil lyrics in the end in this song. The song is already about 'love for the land' and this shift is like a tight warm hug if you are a tamilan or a tamil music lover

RIP BHAGYARAJ SIR 💔
This is a scene from malayalam movie Nadodikkattu(1987) where Mohanlal's character identifies Bhagyaraj in a cutout. For many malayalees this scene was an impactful introduction to the Superstar actor-director of that time. RIP Bhagyaraj sir 💔
From Mukkala Mukkabila to Kannum kannum nokia
n 1990, German Music company 'Best service', which was known for virtual instruments, sound libraries and audio softwares released this CD of royalty free drum and percussion beat loops collection, called 'XX Large 1500 classic drum loop'. I believe this CD and collection of beat loops it had are very important in India cinema music. Our musicians of 90s and 2000s extensively used sample loops from these cds to amazing effects.
To put things into perpective consider this, the iconic drum beat loop we hear in Mukkala Mukkabila when 'Invisible' prabhudeva dance is one of the most popular beat loop from this CD. From international artists like Dr. Alban to our own hindi musicians used this loop in their songs and popularized it. Now just skip 11 years and listen to 'Kannum kannum nokia' the very beat loop you hear in the beginning, Its from the same CD!

Chinnamma chilakkamma from Meenaxi
My go to song for testing IEMs and speakers. There is just so much going on this song. I have been trying to count the number of instruments or layers used in this song ever since and I am still counting. Then there is the aspect of experimental sounding. Each layer texture is tweaked continuously to create this unique feel where sounds just comes and goes like waves on shore.

Yuvan the Futurist
I think this is gonna be an unpopular opinion. The Tamil cinema music is not modern enough when it comes to hiphop genre.Overall the tamil cinema music is impactful, probably the best in India now but the bar set by some of the legends in the past is just too high and too creative. Look at this single aspect of Yuvan's use of Rap and hip hop sounding. He evidently picked the style of global gangsta/hiphop rappers for his innumerous hits. This isnt just sound similarity. He used rappers with proper 50 cent kinda accent and exceptional orchestrational and sound quality that matches foreign production. Now Anirudh and other musicians evidently use rich production but it doesnt look as rich as what U1 used to produce for Goa, aadi bhagavan etc. Also nowadays its more like english pop music kind of rendering than rap. There is great exceptions like Arivu though but sounding still doesnt feel rich enough.
Subah Subah......
Best way to start your mornings. Zubeen garg 🥰

Sad state of International affairs
Imagine being a woman world leader. One guy's entire PR system flooding the internet with juvanile teasing contents suggesting a romantic relationship. The other guy then brings out his peak male ago saying she begged for a photo.
Drooooona
After the big flop of Abhishek Batchan's Drona, three more major industries produced a movie by the title Drona with some of their major stars as lead(not remakes). All of them were monstrous flops.
Naa tum jaano na hum
Which song you think is done by a music director with a specific style but got credited to a different music director in the movie. My pick in most cases is ' Naa tum jaano na hum". I think Lucky Ali composed and arranged it. No its not about talent or experience of Rajesh roshan. He can create absolute impactful and modern music. But Naa tum jaano hum sounds more like an Indie-album kind of romantic number than movie music. The instrumentation and arrangements of whole Kaho na pyar hai was modern but this one has more more modern, subdued yet full of romance style of Lucky ali's album songs. More like they made a song with the song character, melody, lyrics specifically built around ali's singing style.
Good old Venkat Prabhu days
One of my biggest wishes regarding Tamil cinema was, Venkat Prabhu staying there in his Youth comedy phase for ever. Even after getting highly excited seeing Mankatha I was still missing Chennai 600028, Saroja and GOA. For me, these films revolutionized tamil humor, without any of tamil's legendary comedy actors. For a change, the comedy in those films were highly situational, character centric and had some incredible range of actors who were so good at being those characters. Then there is added advantage or this 'cherry on top of pudding' kind of ingredient Yuvan! He pushed his musicality to such extent that the songs and music where so elevating, so modern that it felt like visuals and music were on race to impress the audience. Good old VP days!
