I made Haitian Epis. Share your favorite ways to use it
Would love to hear what you use epis for. I plan to marinade chicken thighs and shrimp in it, use it in my slow cooked oxtail, and even in rice. Let’s hear some other ideas!
10 month progress
She was so tiny when I brought her home from Trader Joe’s. She’s been growing consistently. I’ve repotted her twice, and during the last repotting I found an earthworm 🪱 in the soil, so I also have a pet worm in there somewhere.
Should I trim off the smaller leaves at the bottom? Would it make a difference?
I’m worried I won’t find an apprentice job as a woman
I’m also older (45) and have zero experience. Went through a 2 week program and I learned some things and feel more confident, but I’ve been hearing that it’s much harder to get into the trade as a woman. I’ve applied to over 10 contractors and haven’t gotten a response. I’m hoping to start IEC Dallas in the fall, and need to have a job with one of their contractors before the semester starts in September. Any advice? I will start going to contractors in person tomorrow and be persistent to show them that I’m serious about wanting the job, but besides that I don’t know what else to do. Any advice would be appreciated
Inexpensive clothing and footwear for electrician apprenticeship as a petite woman?
Hi everyone, I’m preparing to become an electrician and need to get appropriate clothing. I come from the fitness industry so my clothes are the polar opposite of what I’ll be needing. Any advice on where I can get all the necessary clothing/footwear that’s not crazy expensive and petite friendly? Thanks in advance
Has anyone completed the IEC SafeSTART Program in Dallas? Bonus if you’re a woman
I’m curious what your experience was and if it helped you land an apprenticeship faster. There are definitely some perks to it
Hair struggles 1.5 years post chemo
A year and a half into my hair regrowth journey and I’m going through it. Up until now I was absolutely OBSESSED with my chemo curls. As my hair is growing, my curls are slowly disappearing and I can’t seem to style it the way I used to. I’m so sad to see my curls slowly disappearing. On top of my hair no longer having cute ringlets, my hair is also so coarse that no amount of deep conditioning/hair products will help it. Which sucks, because I also can’t straighten it without it looking ridiculous. I can’t wear headbands because I look like Medusa, and my hair isn’t long enough in the back and the sides for a ponytail. I really have 2 options: pineapple (I bought a few curly pineapple headbands), or fauxhawk by pinning the sides back.
For those of you who are on the other side of this, what did you do to keep your hair looking cute and stylish?
Anyone doing IEC in Dallas? Bonus if you’re a woman
I applied, got accepted, and got set up with the SafeSTART program pretty much in one day. I’m excited, but also concerned about my chances of getting hired as an apprentice being a woman and in my 40’s with zero experience
Night sweats relief for er/pr+/her2- bc
Hi all,
It’s been a while since I’ve posted on here. To make a long story short, I’m a 3x survivor, on Exemestane and Verzenio (another year left, I cannot wait to be done). On top of insomnia, I’m also suffering from night sweats so bad, I often have to change out of my soaked pajamas.
Those of you with the same type of cancer, what are you doing for your night sweats? I’ve tried Gabapentin, which worked for a while but now stopped working. My onc then prescribed a low dose of antidepressant which I hated-it made me feel depressed and I had some dark thoughts, so I stopped those.
On top of the insomnia which I was managing with cannabis, but now I can’t because I’ll be starting a new career where I’ll be drug tested, the night sweats are just an additional “fuck you” to my already poor quality sleep.
Any advice? What have you tried that has worked for you? Thank you so much
