I’m back with another recommendation, guys. The 2nd album by Waves Crashing, In the Blur, just released today!

Their first album, Effection, was awesome and I was one of the backers during the fundraiser to create the album. It was great to finally have it in my hands and I saw potential in this band, especially because I think their vocal melodies are strong.

This 2nd album might be even better. The drums sound amazing on it, for one, it’s catchier, and it’s the type to shoegaze where you mostly can make out what the vocals are saying. The guitar work is awesome and while it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, I love a record that sounds like a band just jamming it out.

I only wish it was longer, but it’s definitely worth the 30 min journey! If you’re looking for something new or a smaller band to support, definitely check it out.

My favorite song is Marine Garden.

Manifest a release date for Belmont’s Curse at the State of Play on June 2nd, y’all

The last State of Play is where Belmont’s Curse was originally announced. I’m hoping that we get a new trailer that shows off new mechanics and finally gives us a release date. I can’t wait to get my hands on this and finally enjoy a new mainline entry for the series. It would also be cool if they announced whatever else they had planned for Castlevania this year, but who knows.

Do you guys think there will be another single before release?

I’m dying for just one more maybe, especially if it’s a song they’ve already played live. I have I Built You A Tower (a) stuck in my head. I thought we might get a single two weeks out from the album but now I’m not sure.

A perfect cosmic alignment, twice

Today is my birthday, and this is the 2nd time I’ve been able to see Silversun Pickups on the exact day of my birthday.

I love Tenterhooks and I’m so thrilled to see the set list this tour. I haven’t spoiled myself yet. They are my favorite live show and I can’t believe it’s already happening again. Silversun Pickups are in my top 5 bands so this will be a special day, plus I’m having my favorite food and cake on top of it.

Those of you who go to the show tonight, be safe and have a wonderful time!

What song do you hope to hear? Praying for Thorns and All.

Hi, I’m a brand new fan! I’ve known about them for years (What Sarah Said is a classic) but a friend sent me Punching the Flowers and it sent me into a death spiral of their music. I finally made it through all their albums and here is my ranking, not knowing where everything stands with the fanbase

  1. Asphalt Meadows (This blew my fucking mind)
  2. Thank You For Today
  3. The Photo Album
  4. Transatlantacism
  5. Plans
  6. Kintsugi
  7. Codes and Keys
  8. Narrow Stairs
  9. We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes
  10. Something About Airplanes
  11. You Can Play These Songs With Chords (I want to forget it exists)

Feel free to AMA about wtf my placements are!

I Can’t Make You Fall In Love Again is my favorite track on ILYSFM, a project I still love even now

Honestly, I don’t get the hate for this album. I genuinely do not see the “every song sounds the same” critique that people have, even though it is cohesive. Each song brings an entirely different vibe to the record while keeping it clear it’s the same album. From looking around on this sub, though, I saw that people don’t really rate ICMYFILA very high on the album.

In my opinion, this is one of the catchiest Glass Animals songs and it’s always stuck in my head after I listen to it. The line “But you were gone in high school, you walked out of my life”…I’ve seen people relate this to an ex lover but to me it’s pretty clearly about someone’s dad who left them and the narrator is ruminating on that. The album tackling the different types of “love” is one of my favorite things about the concept and the concept of unattainable love is so strong here, and I’d argue even stronger because it’s about a family member. It gives the track a real emotional depth, which I find this album has in spades and keeps it from being the generic mainstream pop album people like to say it is. To me, even though the songwriting may be more straightforward, each word was heavily considered.

I know people think the production isn’t that special, and while it isn’t anything crazy like ZABA or How To Be A Human Being, I still love the spacey atmosphere and guitar focus they had on this. All their albums are catchy and this is no exception.

Does anyone else have I Can’t Make You Fall In Love Again as their favorite?

Oh, and CREATURES IN HEAVEN IS ONE OF THEIR BEST SONGS TO ME! I loved it since the moment it dropped as the lead single. And if you want to comment I only like ILYSFM because I’m a newer fan, I’m a fan since Zaba, which was introduced to me be my mom when it came out, and she’s a fan because Gooey was the credits song for Magic Mike.

I think most of us do get it though, some of us just aren’t a fan of the execution of this particular track
