American Pie is the song that started off Beoga’s set tonight. (Usually it’s Galway Girl). Ed introduced it by saying he was doing something special for the 4th of July and America’s 250th Birthday, and urged the audience to sing the chorus loudly, saying that they’d know the words. Then he surprised them with the opening chords. American Pie was a huge hit internationally, in the early 1970’s.

I remember an old interview from maybe 10 years ago, Ed was talking about his deep love for Don McLean's American Pie, saying he thought it was one of the best American folk songs ever made, and he was suggesting people go on YouTube and watch videos that analyze and explain the meaning of the song! 😍 I think this is the first and only time he has ever covered it at a concert. Wow!🤯

EDIT: I’m still looking for that interview where Ed speaks at length about American Pie, but here is a gorgeous video of Ed sitting with Don McLean in 2015, rehearsing Don‘s song called “Vincent“. Ed sounds and plays beautifully here. 🤩

I’ve been thinking that Ed might sing the First Dance, but probably something less common or typical than Thinking out Loud or Perfect, do you think he wrote something new and special, personal to Taylor for the occasion?💕💐🍾
If he was going to sing, first dance or otherwise, what do you imagine he would choose? I’ve heard that Taylor says that Tenerife Sea is her favorite song by Ed.

Ed and Aaron were dining together at an Italian restaurant near Saratoga Springs earlier tonight, and greeted guests and staff. Of course Aaron’s famous Long Pond Studios is in Upstate New York, but that’s two hours away from Saratoga, so I don’t think the location is related (though it would be awesome if Ed were recording at Long Pond Studios with Aaron again! 💛➖💛🍂🍁🍂)

My feed is FULL of info, gossip and speculation about a possible Taylor Swift 🩷 Travis Kelce wedding rumored to be happening in the next few days at Madison Square Garden. News outlets are reporting on it as though it’s a fact 🤷🏻‍♀️ Major event preparations are being made at MSG, road closures, permits, police, etc. (Some quietly say it’s related to a World Cup event but they’re drowned out by the wedding chatter).

What if the wedding is actually in Upstate New York? Because certainly Ed and Aaron would be attending. Of course they could have been visiting for many other reasons, but it’s a very out of the way place for both of them to end up. 🧐

(For some who might not know, Aaron Dessner of The Nationals co-wrote and produced Taylor’s Folklore and Evermore albums, and Taylor encouraged Aaron and Ed to work together, resulting in the ➖Subtract and 🍂Autumn Variations albums.)

OMG guys, you gotta check this out! It looks ok on the surface (aside from being unauthorized of course) but zoom in and you’ll see it’s complete AI Slop (no surprise). Look at his t-shirt, is that a Paw Print, a Plus symbol, some morphing of both? Look at the record label, is that a Chinese character that vaguely resembles a math symbol? A heart on his guitar, for, you know, the Heart Album! And his tattoos extend all the way down to cover his hand and fingers. 😂 At least the song lyrics are correct! His AI image isn’t bad either. “Suffolk Soul”, that’s a new one.

I personally think that Ed will be there (probably in a box so no crowd photos). He’d said many months ago that he would try to attend as many games as possible while touring the US, and was hitting up the stadium owners for tickets 😭 (as you do). This match is at Foxboro Stadium and he has a long relationship with Robert Kraft: Foxboro/Gillette Stadium was the first ever stadium he played in the US. And, Ed played at Robert Kraft’s own wedding in 2022! So I’m sure Bob will rustle up some tickets 😂

Also we know Ed has a warm affection for Ghana, he travelled and stayed there in 2016, making music with Ghanaian afrobeats artists like FuseODG, including the wonderful Bibia Be Ye Ye on the ➗album.

Ed definitely can’t attend the final England match on Saturday at MetLife in NY/NJ because he’s already got plans in Chicago that day.😉 I’m guessing he also attended the first England match last Wednesday in TX (England beat Croatia 4-2!).

Sept. 2010. Ed is on the cusp of signing his record deal and releasing No.5 Collaboration which started to blow him up.
One of my favorite covers. I don’t know much about it except I think Ed once mentioned they were in Paris. I like to imagine they were drunk and goofing around at a party or outside, they are just having *so much fun* with it. Ed’s expressions are pretty adorable here at 19.
Leddra and Ed played together quite a bit in 2010-2011. She did background vocals for the Live at the Bedford show and the entire Songs I Wrote with Amy EP (I think Amy Wadge was pregnant and couldn’t make it) and she is also credited with vocals on U.N.I. from➕.

Ed posted this on his instagram a few minutes ago. Hopefully this will be filmed so we can all enjoy it, likely he’ll play a few songs.🎸

We know he’s been in Suffolk since he was spotted picking up his favorite curry from the local Indian restaurant where he’s a regular when at home. 🥘

Finally, personally I won’t be surprised if Ed turns up as a guest onstage Friday or Saturday night at the Emirates Stadium in London. An old Irish boyband called Boyzone is playing a reunion show and apparently Ed was a big fan and encouraged/facilitated to get these two shows scheduled. Just a guess but we’ll find out soon.🤷🏻‍♀️☘️

This is one of my favorites! I’d call it a parody, but as we know, Ed actually *does* enjoy and play heavy metal and rap! Just watch him try to keep a straight face while gently singing these songs (hint- he can’t!). It’s 10 years old and for some reason was posted then quickly removed from Jimmy Fallon’s site, so this is the only place it’s online. LMK what you think. Is it as funny and adorable as I find it?

In looking into the topic of catalog ownership with Ed leaving Warner, I learned some interesting things:
Warner owns all of Ed’s catalog except the last two records (Autumn Variations and PLAY, which were released under distribution agreement with Warner but on Gingerbread Man Records)

So Warner owns the rights and master recordings to: ➕Plus, ✖️Multiply, ➗Divide, No.6 Collaborations, 🟰Equals and ➖Subtract.
Regarding Gingerbread Man Records, it’s a bit confusing because it’s said to be an independent Vanity Label, where his music (Autumn Variations, PLAY) is self-owned but it’s also described that Warner is the parent company.

Martin has a concert tomorrow night in Santiago Chile (which is where they BOTH are now, apparently) so the belief is that Ed will Special Guest at Martin’s show and they will perform the song. We’ll know soon🤷🏻‍♀️🔁
