what are the best types of projects/scripts to have in a roblox scripting portfolio?

i’m trying to expand my portfolio more and i’m curious what other scripters think is actually worth making/showing

not really asking for exact ideas, more what types of projects or scripts show skill the best

like should a portfolio focus more on full systems, small polished scripts, playable demos, ui-heavy stuff, backend/datastore work, bug fixes, or just anything that clearly shows you know what youre doing

i mostly do scripting/ui, so im trying to figure out what would be the most useful to build next instead of making random stuff just to fill space

for anyone who has gotten work from a portfolio, what kind of examples seemed to help the most?

what makes you actually stay in a roblox game after joining?

the other post got me thinking about the opposite side of it

a lot of people know what makes them instantly leave a game, but what actually makes you stay?

for me its usually when the first few minutes are clear, the game feels responsive, and theres something obvious to work toward without needing to read a whole tutorial

even if the game is simple, if it feels good right away i’ll probably give it a chance
what makes you keep playing instead of leaving?

what makes you instantly leave a roblox game?

not even talking about bad concepts, because simple ideas can still be fun

i mean the stuff that makes you leave before even giving the game a chance

for me its usually when the game doesnt explain what to do, the ui feels confusing, or something important just doesnt respond when you click it

i feel like a lot of games probably lose players from small stuff like that before the actual gameplay even gets judged

curious what does it for you guys

testing with people who havent seen your game before helps a lot

i feel like when youve been working on something for a while, its hard to tell what is actually clear to a new player

you already know where everything is, what the buttons do, what the goal is, and what parts are unfinished

but someone playing for the first time doesnt have any of that context

so even small things like where they get confused, what they click first, or what they ignore can be really useful

not even in a negative way, its just stuff you might not notice anymore because youve been staring at the project too long

i feel like even one or two fresh testers can show you a lot before you spend robux on ads or start adding bigger features

small advice for anyone getting close to launching a roblox game

before you spend robux on ads or try to push the game hard, get people to test the boring stuff first

not just “is the game fun”

i mean stuff like, does the ui make sense, does mobile actually feel good, do buttons give feedback, do rewards save, do gamepasses work, does the player know why something failed

because a system can technically work and still feel broken to players

if someone clicks buy and nothing happens, theyre probably not thinking “oh i must not have enough cash”, theyre thinking the game is broken lol

same with daily rewards, quests, commands, teleports, shops, settings, all that stuff

i feel like polishing those smaller systems is way more important than people realize, especially if youre about to spend money trying to get players in

boring fixes arent exciting but they probably save launches more than another random feature does

Roblox scripter looking to build experience with smaller projects

Hey, I’m a fullstack Roblox scripter looking to take on a few smaller projects to build more experience and reputation in the community.

I’ve been scripting for a long time and have done some commission work since May 2025. I’m mostly looking for smaller systems or fixes right now rather than huge full-game projects.

Some things I can help with include:

  • DataStore save/load systems
  • Daily rewards
  • Quest systems
  • Proximity prompt interactions
  • Leaderboards
  • Rebirth/prestige systems
  • Gamepass or donation setup
  • Admin commands
  • Teleport systems
  • Tools/equipment
  • Notification UI
  • Settings menus with saving
  • NPC dialogue/order systems
  • Queue systems

I’m open to discussing small tasks or simple systems. Portfolio can be found on my profile.

Looking for feedback from Roblox developers and project leads

I'm researching Roblox hiring/freelancing and testing a concept for a small manual matching service for finding vetted Roblox freelancers by project leads, focusing on scripters at first.

If you hire Roblox freelancers or plan to do so, fill out this survey: https://forms.gle/qEGmmpoLffPwhum98

If you freelance or want paid Roblox work, fill out this survey: https://forms.gle/LtHHyyLCmg982ULr8

They both should take less than 2 minutes to complete and require no sign-up. Just curious whether this is useful before going further.

As a thank-you, people who complete the survey may get early priority access to the platform when the first test matches are made.

Have You Ever Completed a Roblox Commission? How Did It Go?

I’m curious what everyone’s experience with Roblox freelancing has been like.

What’s the most memorable commission you’ve worked on?

- What was the project?
- How did you get the job?
- What did you learn from it?
- Would you work with that client again?

Looking forward to hearing some stories :)
