My daughter (18) is waiting for a 5 month backpay check from SS. We had no idea she could still get benefits after she turned 18 but shes a year older than everyone in her grade so she will graduate May of next year.

We went into SS. The guy begrudgingly accepted our paperwork and told is backpay would get direct deposited like always. except shes mow 18, which i questioned and he shut down. we went home, logged into her ss account and low and behold they mailed a check on august 6 to our old address despite our new Address being on every bit of paperwork we handed the guy.

We immediately went into the post office to forward her mail, but have yet to receive the check. We have informed delivery on both addresses and its not arrived either place.

She got letter stating she’d receive a check “around August 20”. We called SS and the rep we spoke to told us we should’ve had it last week. Does anyone have experience recently with a Survivors Benefit Backpay check taking so long to receive?

I inherited a box of knives from my grandpa and in it was a Sportratchet which from what Ive researched was both a flop but also a rarity that some folks might be after. Prices on ebay are anywhere from $40 - $400. Since I know nothing about knives, is ebay my best bet to unload these?

i’ve used for the past 7 years and now i (41f) just want to be done. I’m most sick of being a slave to this shit and the shitty people you have to deal with. I’m so mad right now-at myself for all the time i’ve lost and money. I have literally nothing. No money, not a cent. And i’m so so scared of the withdrawals. I know I can do this, but am i in for total torture? i have like two suboxone pills i’ve been eating tiny buts of to stave off wds, i’m on day 2 officially and slept mostly all day but i’m starting to get achey and sweaty and nervous. i do have gabapentin and tramadol-i think those are supposed to help. any advice would be appreciated!

hi, this is a bit of a random request, but I am recently homeless as is my very good friend who is hemiplegic after suffering back to back strokes last summer. He’s disabled and requires assistance with pretty much every aspect of his day. Since being on the street, it’s absolutely unbearable and I don’t think that we will make it much longer as is. We would both absolutely die for do anything for a car to sleep in we could rent it if possible? I know this may not even be a thing, but I figured it was worth asking as a one last effort.

I want to reiterate, we do not want to drive the car. We just want to sleep in it. We are just walking aimlessly and there is no solace and I have lived here for most of my 41 years and all of a sudden when you are truly homeless on the street. There are no no friends that will have anything to do with you. This has been incredibly isolating and disappointing. I’m just sad and worn out and I can’t take it anymore. It’s so horrific to live like this, it’s not living.

And please no one tell us to call 211 or any of the other bullshit fake charities that pretend they care about homeless people here because none of them do a goddamn thing.
