Meet Tiropita (Cheese Pie) 🧀🥧
Meet Tiropita (“Cheese Pie”) 🧀🥧
I just discovered this subreddit, and I guess she belongs here.
Tiropita is the daughter of our cat, Titi, who had four kittens. She was the only girl in the litter. My sister had already decided she wanted the female because she already had a male cat and wanted a pair.
That male cat is called Charlie… but after one day when she wrapped him up in a towel like a little burrito, he somehow permanently earned the nickname Bougatsa. 😄
For anyone unfamiliar with Greek food: bougatsa is a traditional pastry (especially popular in northern Greece) that’s filled with either sweet cream or cheese.
So we made my sister a deal: she could have the female kitten, but only if she named her Tiropita (“Cheese Pie”). We thought Bougatsa and Tiropita would make the perfect bakery-themed duo, since they’re probably the two pastries you’ll find in almost every bakery in northern Greece.
Plot twist: my son got attached to Tiropita and couldn’t bear to part with her. So… Tiropita stayed with us instead.
No regrets. We accidentally kept the best cat. ❤️
Statistically questionable, but here we are

Apparently all it took was one person asking, “Are you really a veterinarian?”
Unfortunately I’m neither a veterinarian nor particularly moist.
I'm 45, a halftime dad of a human and a full-time dad of cats, currently living in southwest Berlin - though I'm slowly trying to migrate a bit closer to the center.
I enjoy good conversations, good food, wandering / cycling / running around Berlin, finding cozy cafés and restaurants, photography, concerts, trying to play music, board games, and occasionally pretending I know what I’m doing in the kitchen.
So if you’d like to say hi, my DMs are open.
Worst case, we make a new friend.
Best case, who knows.
Visiting Porto next week - anyone up for a drink, food, chess, or a run?
Hi everyone,
I’m planning to spend a week in Porto from July 15th to 24nd. I was originally planning to go on a meditation retreat, but unfortunately I can’t make it work because of work.
Rather than staying in Berlin, I thought I’d travel somewhere new and work remotely for the week, and Porto has been on my list for a long time.
I’m an easygoing guy, part-time dad, I work in tech, and I’m into chess, running, music, good food, and generally exploring new places. It would be nice to meet around for a drink, dinner, a casual bite, a game of chess, a run, a concert, or whatever sounds good.
I’d also really appreciate any tips on things I should definitely do, places to visit, good neighbourhoods, restaurants, bars, music events, or anything less touristy.
And of course, I’d be happy to return the favour and show you around Berlin sometime.
Happy to share my Instagram or YouTube by DM if you’d like to know I’m a real person before meeting 😊
[iOS, Beta] Sotto - native remote for Denon/Marantz AV receivers
Sotto is a native iOS remote for Denon and Marantz A/V receivers. I'm the developer, and I'm looking for testers with varied receiver models so I can verify the control protocol across the lineup.
Free beta, no account, no ads, no tracking - it only talks to your receiver on your local network. The app can optionally prepare an anonymized snapshot (model / firmware / zones only) to help me add proper support for your exact model.
Apple is reviewing the current beta build, so I'll send invites shortly. Sign up with your receiver model here: https://sottoremote.app
Helpers during the beta keep the app free for good. Later it will probably be freemium with a small one-time unlock, around $6.99.
[OC] Win rate for every hero vs. every villain across ~21,000 logged games of the co-op board game Eldritch Horror
Eldritch Horror is a cooperative board game where 1-8 players (each running a "hero") try to defeat one of several "Ancient One" bosses before a doom countdown hits zero.
For years the community has self-reported the outcome of every game into a shared Google Sheet.
I pulled all ~21,000 of those games into a pipeline that turns them into charts, refreshed daily.
The image is the headline view: each cell is one hero's win rate against one boss (greener = wins more). A few things that fell out of the data:
- Overall win rate sits right around 60%.
- One boss (Cthulhu) is a clear outlier - it drags the community average down more than any other.
- Even at doom 0 - one tick from losing - the community still wins ~3 of 4 games.
- Some matchups you "win" but the whole team gets wiped, so there's a separate view just for casualties.
Full interactive version (heatmaps, a co-play synergy network, difficulty rankings, a tier list, comebacks, expansion impact):
Caveat worth stating up front: this is self-reported data, so there's selection bias (people may log wins more than losses, stronger groups may log more, etc.) - it's "what the community recorded," not a controlled sample.
Feedback very welcome - what's missing, what you'd visualize differently, anything that looks off.
Anyone else choosing emotional damage over techno tonight?
Is anyone not going for the technos or Insomnias and instead staying home, grieving a breakup, eating emotionally irresponsible food, crying at random intervals, gulping liters of red wine, and watching YouTube videos with increasingly questionable titles?
I’m currently hosting this DIY solo event and the vibe is somewhere between “healing journey” and “man found under blanket.”
Dress code: whatever you’ve been wearing for days now.
Music policy: Sad(e) songs, algorithmic chaos, and yet another YouTube video on “mAn TrIeS tO mOvE oN bUt ImMeDiAtElY oPeNs YoUtUbE.”
Feel free to comment if you’re also attending from your own couch.
Let’s make this night hard to forget, mostly by making no effort whatsoever to remember it.
Edit: Thanks everyone for being unexpectedly kind. I’m going to emotionally perish now, by which I mean go to bed under my official recovery blanket. Goodnight ❤️
