Interview for a rejected position?

So on September 19th, NatGen rejected my application for MD Telephone Adjuster. Ok. Another rejection in the bin.

But then yesterday I got an email about that job posting to do a questionnaire confirming location and desired pay immediately followed by a 10 question audio recording interview. Workday still shows I was rejected for the position though.

Is this normal? What’s even going on with this?

Humidifier Help

So I got a humidifier set up yesterday around 5pm and it just notified me (11:15pm) that it’s run out of water. It had a gallon capacity.

I’ve been just buying jugs of distilled water for general plant watering, and go through 2 every couple weeks.
But this would mean one per DAY. That’s a lot of water to lug around and a lot of plastic waste.

I’ve tried doing a little googling and am getting mixed suggestions.
- tap water is fine; just clean the humidifier more regularly and wipe down plant leaves
- get a water filter pitcher and put tap water in that
- RO system

The first one I don’t really like because that now adds a LOT more maintenance.
Second I’m open to but not sure if the filters in those are enough.
And the third is tricky. I can’t modify my sink because I’m renting, and the standalone machines are pricey.

Any other ideas or info about the already listed options? Thanks!!

Intro/Plant Hoard Showcase?

Praise (or not), struggled to find appropriate flair to just say hi and showcase my hoard. I'm no expert at anything so am open to nice suggestions if anyone notices something I'm doing wrong.

But! These are my lovely plants and their current habitat.

Several of them valiantly survived a house fire last April and some have their own struggles after that I've been dealing with.
Barrel cactus stunted itself and then began growing normally but now has a real narrow trunk that's being braced by the stones in the photo. Yes, that's a small soft spot on the side of it that just started up so I'm assuming the rocks are making it hold too much moisture. Those have since been removed and it's been repotted in drier soil and braced up with a zip tie shoved in there. Roots look good, the narrow trunk bit isn't soft, so hopefully nothing too much to worry about.
The OG burgundy inch just never really recovered and now only seems healthy if it's in straight up water. I've revived it a handful of times, but even with great root growth and new leaves coming off the cuttings, it just never bounces back once put in soil and starts losing leaves and shriveling. I'd think I was doing something wrong with it, but the multicolor discolor one I got a few months ago seems quite happy with the exact same treatment. Absolutely all ears for suggestions there if anybody knows why it's so grumpy.
The aloe I thought would die because when we were able to get back into the house, it was turning yellow. Four months later as we're clearing out the rest of what was salvageable from the remains of the house, there it was all green and happy with a million pups coming off of it despite having no light or water the whole time. It's a bit leggy but otherwise doing good.
Solid spider, solid dwarf jade, and echeveria are acting like nothing happened; good for them.

The others are newer and seem to be chugging along quite well, particularly the variegated spider who has gotten so big and croton (or crouton, as my wife calls it) that I found in the hospice section at Lowes despite it looking perfectly fine. Really excited to watch the philodendrons grow and trying to resist the urge to track down a white wizard.

These photos brought to you by myself and my dedicated assistant, a clingy black cat named Merlin who adores time in the plant room and is the most well behaved cat around plants I've ever met.

Job Hunting Burnout

So I'm at such a loss here and not sure what else I'm supposed to be doing.

Background, I had my own house fire last year and something clicked in me with that. I got to see examples of good and bad when it came to desk adjusters, public adjusters, mitigation, etc. And it hooked me. I wanted to do that.
Specifically, one of the PA's showed me how to do contents reports while working my claim and I fell in love. I know many people don't like doing contents and that's fine, but I do. When my claim was over, I continued helping her with other claims and got a great six months of experience out of that and by the end of it I've researched, priced, and documented $1.2 million in contents.

They ended up having to step back from adjusting due to some health concerns and so I pivoted and got my first IA license for Florida, then grabbed Texas'. Since then I've gotten:

  • State Farm auto and property certified
  • FEMA IS-100.c & IS-200.c
  • Encircle contents modules certificates
  • Attended a Crawford hosted webinar for Property/Contents for flood claims
  • Am about to complete TWIA certification
  • Am about 2/3 of the way through course material to take the NY license exam

Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like that's a meaningful amount of work done for where I'm at. And I've been attempting to apply for jobs but just keep getting rejection after rejection with only having one interview. 67/116 applications, to be exact.

I'm on the CAT rosters for Crawford and Pilot, but unsure of if I'm fully on the list for Eberl as they wanted me to do a mock inspection by photographing inside and outside of my home and I do not feel comfortable doing that.

My biggest hold up is that I can't do field work, as I'm in a wheelchair. So it'd need to be a desk position, and I am absolutely aware that a lot of people get their x amount of years of experience by doing field work of some kind, be that CAT or otherwise.

I can do the job. Have already done it for what I'd be wanting. I've written reports exceeding $400k, I've done the carrier dispute reports, I've assisted with drafting emails for clients having ALE issues, and I've even worked through two claims that got slapped with EUO's. I know what I'm doing and just need to be given the chance to show that. And yet, I think I'm stuck behind a barrier that I physically cannot get past.

I'm at a complete standstill on where to go from here and could use any help on what I might be missing and what more I could do to see some results. Ideally, I'd love to be on the PA side but that's a much smaller pool, it seems, to try and get into. So I don't want to recklessly burn the IA bridge.

Please note, I've seen how people in this field can be to one another. Any comments of "just quit trying" or the like are not appreciated. I get that there seems to be a bias against people entering the field, and I don't plan on stepping on any toes. But any attempt to put me down before I even really get started will just be ignored.

New Website Issues PSA

Just an FYI to y’all. The new website rollout seems to be uh…not working quite right at the moment.
I’d scheduled an appointment for what said 5am today. Got the confirmation email, but it was different than usual. Instead of displaying appointment details, it just said “Our clinical team will review your submission and follow up as soon as the next step is ready.” And neither the old or the new site showed I had any scheduled appointments. So I assumed it was not successfully scheduled and to await that follow up the email mentioned.

No call came at 5am so I went about my day and around 7:30am I see missed calls and texts about my appointment.

Tried sending a message on the messaging center of the new site and it kept failing to create the message.

Got someone on the phone from CS and they could see the 5am pacific appointment. I’m in central and the new site did not specify time zone at point of scheduling so I assumed it was localizing it. It was not.

I got rescheduled and they’re waiving the no show fee because of all the contributing website issues. So just letting people with upcoming appointments know that things may be a little crunchy and to give a little grace to the care coordinators and customer service agents cause they are goin though it with this.

Edit: Woman on the phone said new appointment would be at 7am cst tomorrow; confirmation email says it’s at 2pm cst tomorrow. Not sure what’s going on there; having issues getting through by phone again.

Edit 2: Emailed provider directly who confirmed that the appointment is for 7am CST, so only the confirmation email is wrong. Appointment is still not appearing on new site or on charm though. I’m in contact with the wonderful Josefa on the issues I’m having. Again encourage anyone also having trouble to get screenshots of what you’re seeing so that they can be provided to any support staff you may speak to about it.

Loving my setup

Traded in my AC switch and all of the stuff that would only work with it, and by the end of it got a switch 2 for like $112. Picked up a nice little dock caddy/game storage thing, an arm mount for my portable monitor, and an RGB charging grip, and I dare say I’m loving this use of one side of my desk.
