Suwannee Roots Revival: can't miss acts?

This will be my first time at Revival. I'm looking forward to seeing Trampled by Turtles, but not familiar with any other acts. I won't be seeing as many acts as possible (I need some chill time at the campsite), so which ones should I definitely not skip?

Blackwater River, Florida

3 days and 2 nights. I didn't take many pics, except a sunrise and some corned beef hash we were making.

First time out in this boat, it's a joy to paddle.

Replaced seats and yoke, buffed the gel coat, looks like a new boat.

This is my $250 steal of a Wenonah Spirit II. The yoke was rotted in half, the fiberglass seats were fuzzy as a teddy bear, and the hull was left in the sun and very oxidized on one side.

I got a DA buffer and Maguires 1-step rv/boat compound from harbor freight. It did great, but needs a bit more buffing when I have less rain and more daylight, then a good waxing. New yoke, seats, and backrests was another $250 from Wenonah, not bad prices. Also I used a heat gun on the plastic deck plates, brought them back to black.

Now waiting for a break in the rain to go test it out on a nearby lake. Also have a canoe camping trip planned for labor day weekend, stoked for that.

I think I'll stop short at polishing the aluminum.

Upgraded today

2008 17' Wenonah Spirit II in kevlar. I have an '85 fiberglass 16' Mohawk Blazer and was looking for a 17' royalex boat, but this one popped up 3 hours away and the seller was good with $250. I couldn't pass it up.

The yoke and seats need to be replaced, but those are $150 straight from Wenonah. I also plan to polish the hull to try to improve the sun damage.

What size dry bag to fit exped megamat duo?

This is for canoe camping. I'm not sure what size to order. There aren't stores around me to carry it in and try. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Looking to get a bigger boat, fiberglass or not?

I have a 1985 Mohawk Blazer 16' in Florida. We paddle flat water rivers for overnight trips, and day paddles on lakes. It's been great over the past few years, but I'd like a 17' and not sure I want another fiberglass boat.

Our waters have sandy bottoms aside for the odd limestone in low water levels (Suwannee and Santa Fe rivers) and concrete boat ramps we're forced to land at. I've never weighed my gear, but we pack to the gills since we don't have portages. Cooler, cast iron cookware, battery fan, tables, chairs, gallons of water (can't filter river water), pre-bagged firewood, you name it.

I often run into submerged branches and logs, and on many occasions had to haul a fully loaded boat over a log. It's unsettling when it's on a teeter-totter situation making creaking and cracking sounds. I've also hit a log hard enough to cave in the nose, which I had to repair with patches and repaint.

Would royalex be better suited for my situation? Or is fiberglass stronger than I give it credit for and I just need to avoid head on collisions with floating trees?

17' fiberglass boats are much easier to find than royalex in my area, closest one I can find right now is a 4 hour drive away.

I can't do aluminum, I still have burn marks on my legs from my aluminum gunwales from our last trip.

Either this, or smooshing the whole side of his face on mine while growling.

What do you wish you knew when you first became a manager?

I'm being offered my boss's position, as a manager over <10 employees. I'm very trepidatious about accepting, it's not something I ever saw myself doing. Looking to learn what text books couldn't teach me.

I had a sports car in my 20s, but needed an SUV for towing and for kids, while my wife had a sedan. Now my wife will be getting the SUV she wants (new, hybrid, can tow) and I don't need my 27-year-old gas guzzler any more.

I want to get back into a fun car, but it will be my daily driver. However I live in Florida, there is no canyon carving, there aren't many curvy roads, and I won't be regularly taking trips to a track. Maybe I'll go autocross once a month, if I'm lucky.

Which cars would make good daily drivers, but also have some kind of fun? I love the GR86, but it seems like it would be boring with low power and not a bunch of curves. Would a Mustang GT be a bit more fun?
