my advice<3

Even when things feel heavy, try to still take care of yourself. There were times when I felt too low to even brush my teeth. Follow the beauty rituals you believe help you look better, like for me: facial massage or double cleansing. Treat yourself with care even when your mind makes it difficult.

What’s a friendship lesson you learned the hard way?

For me, it’s this: respond to people when they’re being mean. If someone says something hurtful, ask them to repeat it or explain what they meant by it. Don’t keep everything bottled up until you reach your breaking point. Address it in the moment and stand up for yourself each time.

Was this rude?

I have BDD, and one of my classmates always points out that I never go to social events. This time she said, ‘How come you went this time and no one mentioned it?’ and it honestly made me feel weird. Am I overreacting for being bothered by that comment?

guilt

BDD is really hard on its own, and I feel like it gets even harder when people make you feel guilty for skipping social events—when you’re just trying to avoid that fear of looking ‘ugly’ in pictures. Does anyone else relate to this?
