Electrical experts.....

'08 E90 328Xi.

⚠️ rerouting DRL circuit feed from ignition to PB switch.

I've only owned this car for 8 weeks now, but this "DRL turning on with ignition" business is mildly irritating to me. Generally, i'm leaving for work @ 4am, and no matter what time of the year, it's always dark.

I like to be considerate to my neighbour across the street (my driveway face directly at their house) and while whatever vehicle i'm driving that day is locked as it warms up while i get my lunch together, i dislike the fact that there is a visual for anyone to notice a vehicle is running early in the AM.

I'm just looking for the correct area to look, before i cause possible issues before messing around with the electrical system on this platform.

Thanks for the help!

Somehow....i'm not surprised.

I saw this on instagram earlier, and i'm honestly not surprised. IDK if it's due to this being uncovered in Hamilton (IYKYK) or that it's tied to have happened through Home Depot.

Either way, kinda makes ya think "so this is why store prices are high.....".

Hope y'all have a great weekend!

What have you done lately?

Dryer repair & maintenance this wkend. You never realized how badly an appliance being down can mess up your household.

Worse when there are 5 adults in said household. 😅

Anyways, using my 3453-20 made removing the thousand fasteners so much quicker - and easier - than using a 1/4" ratchet & socket. I now see how appliance techs have such a great use for the sub-12V tools. Even on level 1 setting, both the 3453-20 & 2562-20 were kinda overkill for the job, but they made it that much easier.

I will admit to having slightly more respect for tin-knockers after doing this. I'm a machinist by trade, so sharp steel is not new to me, but god damn.....talk about "death by a thousand cuts" shit. 😅

Oil knowledge

As the title says, i'm looking for some European oil specification, from those that have owned these cars longer than myself.

For reference, i have a '06 E90 330Xi, and a '08 E90 328Xi in my household - both having the N52B30 engine.

Aside from the obvious difference in viscosity rating, does anyone know what the actual difference between the Euro A3/B4 and Euro K designations are?

Thanks all, and Happy Friday!

Factory

First part of the video is how the radio display is illuminated in the morning. The second half of the video is after sitting for 9-12 hours at work. Is it the heat that is messing up the display? It appears way clearer in this video, than compared to what i see while sitting in the driver's seat. Any idea if this requires a radio swap, or a simple solder job on the board?

I use a sunshade for the windshield, and plan to have UV (clear) tint on the windows, so i know that'll help.

edit: i forgot to include the radio model option. u/reciprocityone asked, and the VIN shows "0663 Radio BMW Professional" for the radio.

Inflation discussion.

As some may have noticed, i recently added a '08 E90 328Xi to my stable, and i have a question regarding run-flat tire pressure.

The car has ContiProContact SSR tires, and i know run-flat tires tend to be firmer, so i checked the air pressure to ensure they weren't over inflated.

All 4 tires measure between 28.0psi and 29.5psi.
So i'm kinda stumped, as i was expecting them to be over 35psi.

Any run-flat owners out there, feel free to chime in with any knowledge you have on this type of tire.

FWIW, i'm used to firm sidewall tires, as my 1 ton pickup runs a 305/55R20 with a 10-ply sidewall (essentially a 33X12.5 tire) and a 1 ton leaf pack will tell you at every bump, just how stiff the tires are. 😆

Let me introduce....

Let me introduce....

DJ Vito Corleone.

Or, Baby Bluu.

I haven't decided yet, but when the lady behind the desk at the MTO handed the plates to me, the first one perfectly fit the license plate, so it'll do for now.

- 2008 E90 328Xi
- N52/6L45 driveline
- A35 Monaco Blue Metallic (or Monacoblau as BMW calls it)
- KASW black leatherette ('cause BMW can't say vinyl 😂)
- 199,284 kms on the clock when i picked it up

It has some paint marks & dings on it, which i'm sure most happened between the previous ownership & mine (which will be addressed down the road) but, in my 36 years of vehicle ownership, this is the first used vehicle i've bought, that i literally drove home, dropped it off the next day for the safety inspection....and received a phone call a few days later, telling me to come pick up the car, as it needed nothing!

Which is truly amazing, considering the car had been sitting for over a year. It did need a new battery, which i was fully expecting, but that isn't part of a safety inspection. I was also surprised to see ALL of the original literature from BMW still in the glovebox. 😳

While i came into possession of this car due to some very unfortunate circumstances, i'm forever grateful for the meticulous care that the previous owner had for his car.

p.s.: this will be one Bimmer that will signal for any/all lane changes - even as i zip through holes in traffic! 🤪

#inlovingmemoryGandL

p.p.s.: the first thing i said to myself after i washed it.....it most definitely needs wheels. 😆

Truly old skool

My 6D, circa 1998.

A birthday gift from one of my brothers, this bad boy rode the truest shotgun in my truck - securely tucked under my seat, between the seat frame & console. Sadly, it doesn't sit so securely under the seat of my current truck, plus, we all know that newer LED lights out perform these old beasts, so i never got around to fabricating a proper mounting bracket for it. So now, it stands watch on one of my toolboxes at home.

Decided it was time to check the physical condition of the batteries, as we've all had that one light that still worked, even after the batteries had wrecked the internals of it. Surprisingly, with all 6 batteries showing a "guaranteed" date of 03-2018, all measured between 1.446V and 1.449V. As you can see in photos 5 & 6, it's still like new inside.

Anyways, just sharing, hope everyone has an awesome day!
