Retroid Pocket Nova Starter Guide (RGC)

Here is a start-to-finish guide for the RP Nova, with particular attention paid to its 4:3 display.

Buckle up, it's over two hours long (the guide is focused on newcomers, so it goes over every little detail). I also did a refresh to my written guide to cover some of those RP Nova specifics too.

An Updated Look at the Miniloong Pocket 1 (thanks to Leaf CFW)

I really liked the Miniloong Pocket 1 hardware when I first reviewed it a few months back: excellent build quality, an early 2000s vibe, exceptionally quiet and satisfying face buttons, and a 4" (4:3) 720p screen that scales really nicely for most systems (5x integer for GB/GBC, 4x GBA, and 3x for most other retro systems). But the software was so terrible that I couldn't recommend it even at its decent $80 price point.

Today we have a lot of CFW options, and so far my favorite is Leaf, which is simple and theme-able, and has a "five game mode" built into it. Here is my showcase video of the device and OS combo, which I think is an excellent starter handheld today (but likely unnecessary if you already have a similar cheap handheld).

AYN Odin 3 Six Months Later: So Much Better

Six months later, the Odin 3 is my daily driver, and for good reason: it keeps getting better, thanks to software tweaks, driver updates, and Linux compatibility.

The Anbernic RG477M is nearly a year old, here’s an updated look at what it’s like today. I still think it’s one of Anbernic’s best handhelds.

The combo of GammaOS (with global shaders and BFI) plus the Better Buttons mod make it much better than at launch, in my opinion.

Hey everybody, this is Russ from Retro Game Corps. I’m sitting down today to record my first impressions of the RG Rotate and I’m wondering if you have any specific topics you’d like me to cover.

Some aspects like in-depth battery life testing will have to wait for the final review, but let me know your questions and I can try to address them today (or in the review).

With AYN Thor prices steadily rising, i decided to take a look at the Thor Lite and how it compares in performance and value.

My conclusion is that it does just fine for dual-screen gaming like DS and 3DS, but if power is your main concern, then the RP6 and Odin 2 Portal are also $250.
