Does anybody think critical-ratings like Pitchfork has become the new Billboard Charts for people?

I've been seeing a lot of fans comparing artists with pitchfork and aoty/.org ratings more than charts. I think it's because of that slogan "quality over quantity" had become more prominent in the internet.

I mean Taylor is more famous socially than industry-wise before so if she's an artist today, would she sound similar to Addison Rae, PinkPantheress, Zara Larsson, and other 2020s pop act? Or maybe Chappell Roan or Madison Beer when it comes to her songwriting.

As long as their music is catchy, i still dont give a crap if this artist is just PR-crafted and "inauthentic."

A lot of people shit on Addison Rae's music career for being "algorithmic" so what? pop music nowadays is so boring; We need "manufactured" popstars like Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and other 2010s pop act who make good hits.
