When did you start looking into childcare?

I am currently on 12 months of maternity leave and will be going back to work in mid July 2027. I know child care center’s typically have waitlists and not sure when I should start enquiring? I’d like my son to go for a few weeks before I go back to work to establish the routine & comfortability? Any advice is appreciated!

When does payment start?

Baby was born last Wednesday & I’ve notified Centrelink of the same. When does payment begin? Is it the next round of my pay cycle from work?

Shit, it just got real

I’m 39 weeks tomorrow and baby can come basically anytime now. I’ve been pretty ok with the nerves but now it’s starting to hit bad 😭 I feel super anxious about labour & birth. You can read & watch so much but still do not feel prepared, especially as a first time mum! If baby doesn’t come on its own, I’ve got a scheduled induction due to GD next Tuesday. I’m trying to stay calm & do things that relax me but I guess I’m just starting to feel scared of all things that could go wrong. Anyone else feel like this?

Alternatives to Baby Loungers

I’ve heard baby loungers aren’t safe for sleep only for awake time but curious to know what other alternatives there are? I have a two story house & will have the bassinet upstairs and don’t really want to be taking it up & down each day for sleep. What other options do you use other than buying another bassinet?

Acid reflux will be the death of me

35 weeks + 4 days pregnant and the acid reflux is worse than ever. It’s 11pm and I woke up choking after sleeping for an hour. The acid was so close at the top of my throat I could literally smell it. I thought I was going to vomit and took forever for the acid to ease off. Now I can’t lay back down since I can feel it every time my head hits the pillow. I’m tired 😢

What makes it worse is today we were told our landlord wants to sell the property and we’ll need to move.. baby is due in 4 weeks time and i’ve already set up the whole nursery 😪 we want to get out before baby is born because I don’t want to be here with strangers walking in & out to inspect the property with a newborn baby. These last few weeks was supposed to be about wrapping up work before maternity leave & getting ready for baby. Now it’s about packing up & finding a new place to live hoping baby doesn’t come earlier than planned.

Laundry Detergent

FTM and preparing for baby’s arrival in a few weeks.. I’m ready to start washing clothes but unsure about whether or not to switch our detergent. We currently use the Fab Laundry Powder brand. I was reading that you should use the same detergent for your clothes as your baby’s clothes but non scented is best.

How many of you continued to use the regular detergent or did you make the switch for the entire household? Please also share any recommendations!

I’ve been renting at this property for almost 8 months and have a 12 month fixed lease. Last week we had a rental inspection and everything went fine. I had a phone call from the agent the following day asking if the landlord could some see the property next week. I asked what for and they said no reason, he just wants to take a look himself. Although alarm bells were ringing, I agreed.

Today, the landlord came over with the agent and there was also another couple with them.. I was upstairs jumping off a meeting so my husband let them in without thinking. Once I saw them, I said to the landlord, I wasn’t aware there were others coming? Who are they? And he told me he was his brother… bullshit. I stood in the doorway of my bedroom to avoid them coming in further which worked.

Since the landlord was there, I finally had a chance to speak to him about repairs that are needed since he has declined to repair our front screen door lock (broken when moving in) since moving in 8 months ago + some recent plumbing issues. While the landlord was chatting to us, I overhear the agent asking the couple if they want to check the backyard… clearly not his brother.

We are really upset & angry that the landlord has brought a prospective buyer into our home without any notice. I am 28 weeks pregnant so we desperately don’t want to move. Has this happened to anyone else before?

I’ll be calling the agent tomorrow to say what the fuck & ask if the landlord is intending to sell. I don’t understand why honesty & transparency is lost these days….
