Rescued a kitten with FIP. Need help funding the treatment.

Last week, I picked up this little girl off the street after she had been meowing and following me. When offered some food, she wouldn’t eat it, so I assumed she had a mouth infection and took her to the vet. He found an abscess on her side and drained it, and put her on antibiotics. She did get a bit better and started eating, but within a day or so, I noticed that her stomach was swelling.

I took her to the vet again yesterday and had her X-rayed. She’s been diagnosed with FIP. The X-ray also showed that her liver and kidneys are swollen, and her intestines are clumped together (vet is worried they might be stuck, which could mean surgery later on).

We've started her treatment. The good news is that right now, she’s still active and eating. But since it's an 80-day course, the cost of the treatment, medication, and hospital bills is more than I can cover on my own.

I've started a GoFundMe to raise funds for her – whatever you can send goes toward covering another day of treatment. Please help 🙏

Urgent ‼️ Help save this little one from FIP ‼️ She must start her treatment soon. 🆘 🐾

Urgently need help in saving this little one from FIP!!!!💔🙏

The medication has a high success rate, and with treatment started in time, she has a real shot at recovering. Any amount raised would directly go into getting her treatment started.

Please help give this sweet girl the fighting chance she deserves. 🐾 She could totally be the next mascot for Felix 😭🙏

My 14 yr old cat has tumor spread to her lungs. Vets gave a few options - what's the best for her?

We got her mammary tumor surgery done but unfortunately it has spread to her lungs. Attaching her lung x-rays. We got 2 opinions, 1st vet has said that she needs palliative care and to prepare for her to pass away or that we can end her suffering and put her down soon.

Vet 2 said give her antiinflammatory and see how she responds, if she's better, do chemo.

She's not breathing well, barely. While we'd love more time with her, we alsi don't want to put her through too much only for her to suffer for nothing.

Please give us an advice that's best for our cat.

My worst nightmare came true.

I lost my son in the mall during the Sunday night rush for three minutes. He was eating McDonald's icecream. I was holding my 7 month old and waiting for my sister who just went to take away from the food court. I saw he made a mess, I went to take tissue from counter nearby cleaned his hands and face. I saw he put his waffle cone on a table, I went to pick it up, turned around and he was gone. Gone.

I looked around, there were a lot of people and I could not find him. After that it was a whirlwind. I remember screaming my son, my son. People stopping some concerned some laughing at my condition. Me screaming he can't talk, he can't tell his name. Mall security came they started to tell me to calm down and I just couldn't. I couldn't sit I couldn't stand I was in a limbo. Suddenly I saw him running around a fake tree and i went to grab him and ugly cried.

I don't wish autism on my worst enemies. I am still shaken. I am searching leashes and trackers. I am scared of taking him out again. This is so hard. What if he got lost forever, how would I ever live with myself again..

Need advice: 14-year-old cat wheezing after mammary tumor surgery. Vet recommended nebulizing acetylcysteine granules — is it safe?

Our 14-year-old cat was diagnosed with a mammary tumor about a month ago and underwent surgery.

Her recovery has been slow. She absolutely refused to wear a cone and became very aggressive whenever we tried, so she had to stay boarded at the clinic for almost two weeks while her incision healed. We eventually brought her home after a few stitches opened.

Once she was home, her appetite came back and she started acting much more like herself. However, we noticed she had developed a slight limp. We initially assumed it was due to the surgery.

After her stitches were removed, our vet examined her and said the limping was likely caused by her age, ligament strain from compensating after surgery, and arthritis. We were told to monitor it and that it should improve with time. When it didn't, he prescribed Folrex (joint and cartilage supplement) , saying it should help.

Our bigger concern now is her breathing.

She's been wheezing and sounds congested. Her chest seems to move more than usual, and it looks like she's breathing quite rapidly. Since she's barely moving around because of her leg, it doesn't seem like she's panting from exertion.

Our vet has advised nebulizing her with acetylcysteine granules mixed into saline. However, after looking it up online, we found multiple sources saying acetylcysteine granules aren't meant to be nebulized.

We contacted a second vet for another opinion. He believes it's likely a hospital-acquired respiratory infection and instead recommended montelukast.

For context, we live in a country where veterinary medications are often unavailable. Because of that, vets commonly prescribe adjusted doses of human medications, and that's been standard practice here. Even so, we're feeling very uneasy about nebulizing acetylcysteine granules after everything we've read.

She's our very first cat, and she completely changed our lives. Because of her, we've gone on to rescue and help countless other animals. We're trying to make the best decisions for her, and we'd really appreciate any advice or experiences.

Ms. Chairman Chonks ❤️ Post-Cancer Surgery Recovery Update 🎀 A New Hurdle in Her Recovery – Support Needed

After weeks at the hospital, we've brought Kaat home. Recovery, though, has been anything but straightforward.

She's still going back for regular veterinary visits, and she's just not herself yet.

Her appetite has been poor, and getting her to eat has become a daily challenge. We're trying everything we can to tempt her with her favorite foods, but apart from Wanpy, she's not really having more than a few bites of anything.

We've also noticed a new complication. Kaat has been struggling to balance properly on one of her hind legs, and she's being closely monitored while we work with her vet to understand the cause and next steps.

We're taking things one day at a time and doing everything we can to help her recover.

The surgery may be behind us, but her treatment and follow-up care are still ongoing, and the frequent vet visits, medications, and recovery costs continue to add up.

Please wish her well and support Kaat's recovery – it would mean the world to us. Every contribution, no matter how small, goes directly toward her ongoing veterinary care.

Thank you for sticking with Ms. Chairman Chonks through every step of this journey. ❤️🐾

Ms. Chairman Chonks Update ❤️ Post-Mammary Tumor Surgery, Support Needed for Her Ongoing Care 🐾🎀

It's been a little over a week since Kaat's mammary tumor removal surgery.

We honestly thought she'd be home by now, but recovery has been more complicated than we expected.

Kaat is making progress. Three of her stitches have already been removed, she's eating well (the girl can't say no to Wanpy), and she's still making sure everyone at the clinic knows she's the Chairman.

CHAIRMAN'S WANPY TIME! ✨

She's still unable to come home, though. The seroma around her incision is taking longer to heal, and because she absolutely refuses to tolerate a cone (very on brand for Kaat), her vet feels she's safest recovering at the hospital, where they can monitor her wound, change her dressings, and make sure she's healing properly.

We're doing everything we can to cover her treatment ourselves, but each additional day of hospitalization, wound care, medications, and monitoring adds to the cost of getting her through recovery.

If you'd like to help Kaat get through this last stretch, we'd be incredibly grateful. Every donation goes directly toward her ongoing veterinary care, and sharing her fundraiser means just as much.

Thank you for continuing to cheer on our little Chonk. ❤️

Update on Ms. Chairman Chonks 🎀 Donations for Her Recovery Still Needed 🐾

Healing has been slower than we hoped, but our girl is hanging in there.

Kaat still has a seroma, so the drainage tube is staying in for now while her vet continues to monitor her closely. Her incision is healing, just very gradually, and she'll need to remain at the hospital a little longer before she's ready to come home.

Good news is, she's happily eating her favorite treats, getting some much-needed rest with her favorite toy by her side, and reminding us every day why we've fought so hard for her.

Ms Chonks, the Chairman, devouring her 3rd Wanpy in a row

Recovery has brought additional hospitalization, medications, and follow-up care that we weren't expecting.

If you're able to help us get Kaat through the rest of her recovery, we'd be incredibly grateful.

Every donation, no matter how much, goes directly toward her veterinary care, and if donating isn't possible, sharing her fundraiser would mean the world to us.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our little Chonk. We can't wait for the day we get to bring her home. 🎀 🐾

Update on Kaat 🐾 Mammary Tumor Surgery Is Done, Still Under Veterinary Care & Recovering. Fundraising going on for her rehabilitation. 🐾🎀

It's been a few days, and we wanted to share an update on our Ms. Chonkers. She's one tough little lady. 🐾

To everyone who donated, left kind comments, or simply kept her in your thoughts, thank you. Reading your messages while waiting for updates from the vet brought us so much comfort, and we're incredibly grateful to everyone who has been rooting for our girl.

Kaat has now undergone surgery to remove her mammary tumor. She's still recovering under veterinary care and isn't quite ready to come home yet. Her incision is very fresh, and she's developed a seroma (a fluid buildup that our vet has reassured us is a normal part of healing after a surgery like this). To help it drain and heal properly, they've placed a drainage tube, and she'll stay at the clinic while they keep a close eye on her.

The past few days have been an emotional roller coaster, but we're finally starting to see little glimpses of our old Kaat again.

She's happily accepting her favorite treats, asking for Felix Tender Fillets, Crispies, Wanpy, and fresh beef, and every tiny purr, stretch, and enthusiastic bite of food feels like a victory. After everything she's been through, seeing her personality shine through again has given us so much hope.

Although the surgery is behind us, her recovery is only just beginning. We're still facing the costs of her hospitalization, medications, follow-up care, and the weeks of recovery ahead, so our fundraiser remains open. If you're able to help or even share it with someone who might, we'd be incredibly grateful.

Thank you for continuing to stand by Kaat. 🐾🎀

Please help Kaat, our Ms. Chonk, Through Mammary Tumor Surgery & Recovery 🐾

We're raising funds to help Kaat through mammary tumor surgery and recovery.

Kaat, our Ms. Chonkers, Chonk, Chairman, is almost 14 years old and has been part of our family for nearly her entire life. We found her as a tiny kitten abandoned under a car in the bitter cold. She was frightened, freezing, and small enough to fit in the palm of a hand. We brought her home, and she never left.

Over the years, Kaat has been there through some of life's hardest moments. She helped us through the loss of a parent, serious illness, and every major chapter that followed. She's stubborn, opinionated, endlessly sassy, and deeply loved.

Recently, Kaat was diagnosed with a mammary tumor. After consulting with our veterinarian, surgery was recommended as soon as possible. We're now trying to raise funds to cover her surgery, medications, post-operative care, and recovery.

Some members of this community may remember Cloud and Tigger. Thanks to the generosity of donors here, both received life-saving care and are still with us today. We'll never be able to fully express our gratitude for the support that gave them a chance to survive.

Today, we're asking for help for Kaat.

We've contributed everything we can ourselves, and family members have helped where they can, but we're still struggling to cover the full cost of treatment.

Kaat means the world to us. She has spent nearly 14 years giving us comfort, companionship, and unconditional love. We're doing everything we can to give her the same chance.

Any contribution, no matter the amount, will go directly toward Kaat's surgery and rehabilitation. If you're unable to donate, sharing her fundraiser would help us immensely.

Thank you for reading Kaat's story and for keeping her in your thoughts. 🐾
