No maternity-wear in stores and baby stores closed down

I feel like an old person shaking my fist at the cloud for even saying this, but I kind of hate that most baby retail and maternity wear has been relegated to mostly online shopping. Maybe I'm old fashioned or something, but it really bums me out that all maternity clothing is only sold online these days, and baby sections in the stores are relatively small. There was a store called Baby Depot in my city when my first child was born 5 years ago, and it has since closed down and there is nothing like it anywhere close to where I live. I didn't shop there for everything, but I really liked that there was a huge selection of literally anything you might need for a baby.

As for clothing, I generally dislike shopping for clothes online because I never know if I'm going to like the texture of the material, or if what I'm ordering is even going to fit me properly, or sometimes things look good on the model in the photo but wouldn't look good on my body type and it's hard to know until I actually try it on. I know a lot of moms these days just wear their regular clothes and just let their bellies show, but I'm a plus size mom in her 30’s who would never be comfortable with that.

Again - I feel like a ranting old person, but I really miss the days of being able to go out and shop in person for the things you need!

Anyone else's pregnancy making them constantly hungry?

This is my 2nd pregnancy and I'm only 9 weeks in, but oh my god, my appetite has changed so much over the last few weeks.

I don't remember feeling this way during my last pregnancy (plus I was having terrible morning sickness at this point last time and no morning sickness this time around). But I feel like I need to eat something like every 2 hours!

Anyways, I just hope it doesn't lead to gaining too much weight. I'm just going to have to make sure I'm making healthy choices to balance things out.

Just got my first speeding camera t*cket in the mail :( Be careful out there!

The city wants me to pay $100 for going 45 on Carlisle in a 35 zone - and sure, that's on me... but having to randomly cough up $100 out of the blue in this economy is going to kill me.

I'm not a typical speeder, but sometimes I just follow the flow of traffic without paying close attention to the speed I'm going. This is just a warning to be more cautious around town, especially if you can't afford to suddenly lose $100.

(T*cket was spelled that way because it is apparently a banned word in the sub to avoid people trying to sell event t*ckets here.)

Had to roll my eyes at my daughter's doctor yesterday

Took my 5 year old daughter for her annual check up, and at the end of the visit the doctor asked if I had any concerns. I thought I would just mention that everything has been fine health wise but we've running into some behavioral issues. I explained that both me and my husband have ADHD and that it was probably worth having it on our radar since there have been some behavioral things with our daughter that stand out. Then the doctor made a little flippant comment about "everybody has ADHD". She told me they don't look for it until a few years into school, and said that having a strict daily routine will help.

She wasn't totally dismissing me, but the "everybody has ADHD" comment really rubbed me the wrong way. Also, as much as I would like to implement a strict daily routine for all 3 of us, my ADHD literally makes that really hard to accomplish.

Anyways this is just a vent. I really hate that some medical professionals don't take ADHD seriously or act like it's something people make up to excuse their behavior.

[Complete][122k][Fantasy] Sapphires and Storms (working title)

Seeking a few beta readers for a completed character-driven epic fantasy with a romantic subplot (the romance complements the story but isn't the primary focus).

The story follows three protagonists: an exiled young man driven by revenge and fierce loyalty to his new ruler, and fraternal twin mages whose privileged but sheltered lives are torn apart, sending them down vastly different paths. As their journeys unfold, fate draws them together while political powers vie for control and ancient, darker forces begin to stir.

I'm open to beta swaps if it's a good fit (completed drafts only, same or similar genre), but I'm also happy to hear from anyone who enjoys immersive fantasy in the vein of Throne of Glass or loves character-focused stories with magic, political intrigue, and slow-burn relationships.

Please DM me if interested!

I always hear about how people with ADHD tend to have a natural sleep cycle that's incompatible with modern schedules.

I personally have always been a night owl, and still stay up late most nights despite needing to wake up early and constantly living on not-enough sleep.

In your ideal world, what time would you go to bed? During times in my life when I didn't have to be anywhere early, I would usually be ready to go to bed around 1:00 am, sometimes 2:00.
