My Top 3, Year III Pipedreams are...

...

-TERMINATOR MODE-

What do I mean by this? Exterminatus is what I envision a Terminator-centered mode would be like.

Now, would it be tough to implement? You'd need to create at least 2 new Classes (Assault Terminator & regular Terminator) with new perk trees and animations... so yes.

It would be tough to implement. I don't expect this to ever happen. Neither should you.

But it would be fucking cool, don't you deny it

Waltzing through Tyranid hordes, as a Terminator. 10 armour bars, no dodge and only slight stagger from Heavy attacks & sniper shots. That would be a dream come true.

-Saber, gib more Heavy guns! Da boyz need moar DAKKA-

Obviously Heavy is really strong, but he lacks some truly unique weapons.

Boltstorm Gauntlets would be my pick. These could have the Flame Gauntlets as their variant (kinda how the Bolter with Grenade Launcher is a variant of the Bolt Rifle).

Boltstorm Gauntlets would not allow for charged attacks like regular Power Fists, and would double as a ranged & melee weapon - there would be no secondary weapon with these bad boys.

I would, however, not mind a Grav Cannon or Frag Cannon either. Even just one of those three would be plenty enough. Oh, and allow Heavy to pick a Chainsword or Power Sword if he takes a Heavy Bolt Rifle - he loses a lot of ranged damage, so it would compensate (and we could cosplay a Gravis Captain).

Last but not least...

-SUCCESSOR CHAMPIONS AND COSMETICS-

The time of the First Founding Chapters is over!

Just joking.

Blood Angels & Dark Angels hold a special place in my heart - they are the undebatable GOATs of all Space Marines (I will fight you if you disagree with me ⚔️)

While I would not be opposed to a Cosmetic Pack that further adds just one or two pieces for First Founding Chapters (White Scars' company markings or more BA pieces for example), I think our successor Chapters deserve the spotlight.

Obviously we can't do all, so here are some possibilites:

  • The Lamenters as a Assault Champion

  • Minotaurs as a Bulwark Champion

  • Raptors as a Tactical or Sniper Champion (Vanguard would be fine too)

  • An Assault-class Champion for the Black Dragons

  • A Tactical Carcharodons Champion (again, Vanguard would be fine too)

Other successors could get cosmetic packs. Just throw 'em a bone.

---

That's basically all my dreams.

Are they realistic? Hell nah. But would they be cool? Hell yeah.

So let a brother dream...

[Update] Concept for a new Blood Angels Army Rule

Oath of Moment is fine, obviously, but it's getting boring. We all have it.

And then there's the Black Templars with their Templar Vows, having a unique rule - and here we are - the Blood Angels.

One of the oldest Chapters, both in the real world and in 40K. And we don't have a unique Army Rule to ourselves? Let's change that:

---

THE TWIN CURSES OF SANGUINIUS

The Blood Angels have many aspects. The Warrior Virtues & the Angelic Graces. The Black Rage and the Red Thirst.

Furious melee combat, close assault with flamers, aerial attacks using jump-packs, and some of (if not the) strongest librarians of all Chapters - Grey Knights don't count.

Of all these, the Flaw stands out the most, and it's what I base the army rule on:

If your Army is [BLOOD ANGELS], each time a unit is selected to Fight, it can use this ability.

When it does, it first needs to make a Leadership Test:

If the Test succeeds/ is passed, that unit gives in to the Red Thirst. It gains the following abilities:

- For every enemy unit that is destroyed, your unit regains D3+1 wounds.

- Add 1 to the Wound Rolls of melee attacks made by this unit.

If the Test fails, your unit instead falls to the Black Rage, and becomes enraged. A unit in this state:

- Has an objective control characteristic of 0, unless within 6" of a friendly Chaplain

- Gains the [SUSTAINED HITS 1] ability on all their melee weapons

- Gains the [FEEL NO PAIN 5+] ability

---

Now, brothers, that this very rough sketch is done, what do you think?

Better or worse than OoM? More flavorful, or did it miss the mark?

Here's some of my thoughts and questions:

- Should a unit under the influence of the Red Thirst also have an OC of 0? It could make a Leadership Test to exit the Red Thirst during your next command phase (and falls to the Black Rage if said test fails)

- Should the Red Thirst grant +1 to Hit and Wound in melee, or is +1 to Wound enough?

There's good requests for what players want in SM2...and then there's this kinda stuff:

Let's go through why exactly this is really ridiculous:

- Assault Cannons are Terminator weapons. We don't have Terminators.

- Autocannon? Primaris only have one Autocannon (and even Firstborn Devastator Squads never used Autocannons iirc), and the Primaris class using Autocannons doesn't exist in-game

- Missile Launcher. Sure, Desolation Squads are a thing. I can see why you'd want it, but I personally would prefer different weapons.

- Cyclone Missile Launcher... Terminator weapon. Next.

- Typhoon Missile Launcher. Vehicle mounted, never used by Primaris Marines on foot. Next.

- Plasma Cannon. Not used by Primaris, outside of...you guessed it, Deathwing TERMINATORS.

- Heavy Plasma Cannon... does that even exist?

I think you get the idea.

---

People asking for Lightning Claws or Greatswords or whatever are fine (both of those are used on multiple Primaris models).

But idiots like these demanding weapons that are never even used by Primaris or mounted on FUCKING TANKS OR DREADNOUGHTS never make sense to me and never will.

Rant over.

I'm tired of people saying Saber starves us for weapons or smth. We have plenty and even though more are always nice to have, it's not like we're lacking in our firepower department.

Always funny how SW warships are underestimated

Obviously, all Sci-Fi writers have a real problem with believable numbers. But people seriously underestimate SW ships.

Above, you have:

- The Executor class SSD surviving 3 ISD's (here described as "cruisers") ramming it out of Hyperspace. It survived without any notable damage.

- The Acclamator-class' turbolasers being cited at having a yield of 200 gigatons (possibly higher, considering turbolasers can be adjusted)

- The Venator-class having a range of over 10 light-minutes on it's main DBY-827 batteries.

And you're telling me a Nova Cannon or Macrocannon would wreck an Executor SSD? Nah, not when that ship can handwave being smacked by 3 ISD's out of FTL.

Same goes for Halo. How strong is the Infinity's Super-Mac again?

Heck, Halo's HAVOK nuke has a yield of only 30 megatons as per Halo: Fall of Reach pg.3 - that's nowhere near a medium turbolaser.

Okay, that's it. Just wanted to get that out there. SW ships are significantly underestimated.

With all the *amazing* content that we got in Year 2 - from Champions like the Blood Angels & Raven Guard, to cosmetics for successor Chapters & the new Techmarine - Saber has certainly raised our expectations.

Year 3 was confirmed, and many have speculated what we'll get, so I just wanted to ask: What do YOU wish for? Name me your top 3 picks.

Mine are pretty simple:

---

I. Cosmetics for Successors.

I doubt Saber will revisit every Founding Chapter like they did the Salamanders. Rather, I'm willing to bet we'll see stuff like a Death Watch Champion.

On top of that, I wish for cosmetics for Chapters like the Black Dragons, Blood Ravens, Flesh Tearers...

Cosmetics, but maybe even Champions. Cuz why not?

---

II. Weapons...MOAR DAKKA

Obviously everyone and their grandma wants Lightning Claws. I've seen people beg for dual wield (not quite the same as LC's, and unrealistic if you ask me), for Eviscerators...

We are all but assured to get at least one, in form of the Greatsword, if it won't drop in Year 2.

I'd like ranged weapons too though. Exotic ones - Frag Cannons with ricochet rounds, Grav Cannons...

---

III. Not a new Class - a new Game Mode!

Something where you play Tyranids?

Or our current Ops but with Terminators?

Honestly, I have no clue and I know this is likely not gonna happen. But Saber has their ways of surprising us.

I don't even mean "No stuff for Founding Chapters at all". I mean "focus on successors, since the 1st Founding Chapters all got a Cosmetic & Champion pack.

Maybe there could be one or two larger packs with some missing stuff for Founding Chapters, like...

- White Scars company markings (completely missing from their pack)

- Some proper Ultramarine cosmetics

- Space Wolves styled round shield & fur cape

...

But that's really it. Most of these could arguably be put into the Requisition Store, and wouldn't require much of a Pack.

I instead want to see more Cosmetics for our favorite successors. Lamenters, Minotaurs, Black Dragons... spring to mind.

u/pawny_pawn — 21 days ago

Why?

Space Wolves aren't exactly starving for cosmetics.

3 weapon skins, a Champion & Cosmetic pack, an upcoming WG helmet... the BA, by comparison have, what, 1 weapon skin?

Plus, many of our unique units have Axes, both on tabletop, and in the lore. It's not like the Axe doesn't fit.

For reference: the Sanguinary Guard has axes (dubbed the Axe Encarmine), Astorath & Dante have axes, and even as far back as the Heresy, Aster Crohne had an axe.

u/pawny_pawn — 22 days ago

The Heroic Axe is an Encarmine Axe...

Fuck. Yeah.

Finally, my Sanguinary Guard will be complete.

Anyone remember that pic with the Wolf Pauldron from the Vlka Fenryka Champion on Tactical?

The coming community update will be **freaking 12 pages long.**

And Saber did say they were redesigning other Champion pieces too (though no date was given, so maybe we're getting more later).

What I can definetly see happening is them re-making a lot of other pieces too, such as:

- The Salamander Champions legs, breastplate & pauldrons

- The Space Wolves Champion breasttplate

- The ~~Piss Marines~~ Imperial Fists Champion breastplate (for Heavy?)

- The Ultramarine Champion's breastplate & pauldrons

These would add even more cosmetic options, going far beyond what we currently have, and in at least one case (looking at you, Salamanders) it would silence the communities constant complaining about cosmetics. If only for a while.
