Neurofeedback as a treatment option?

Has anyone had any success with utilizing neurofeedback and treating their FND?

Convinced I'm brain damaged

I'm just at loss. I'm so upset, frustrated and sad all at once. Every day of life is so difficult. The fog and confusion never seems to let up. No one really knows what's happening to me. I feel burdensome to those around me. The doctors think it's depression, which is part of it, but it feels like so much more. I smoked weed and ended up feeling this way every single day of my life- that was eight months ago.

Time runs together, conversations are harder, I have no thoughts, opinions or ideas anymore. Memory is shit- don't know if something happened hours ago or days ago. It all runs together. It all just pisses me off to no end. Medical workup is completely normal. MRI normal. Sleep study normal. EEG normal. Neuro exams are normal. Etc, etc. Neuropsych testing showed average on everything. Which makes me believe that I must have been a fucking genius before this. I just want something to point somewhere so I can go on with my life, peaceful and happy.

I think about the end almost every day, but that's not an option because of my wife and kids. I couldn't even imagine the pain that would do to them. It's like nothing in my head makes sense anymore. The world feels distorted and almost unfamiliar. Also, I have unexplainable physical symptoms like leg weakness. I do dissociate regularly but the confusion is pretty damn constant. Idk if I have a dissociate disorder, functional neurological disorder, some other psych diagnosis, or my brain is just fucked up. I just feel damaged and tired. I truly hope you guys can solve your issues, because if you feel anything like how I feel, I know you're in misery. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

At home NFB devices (e.g. muse) vs. In-office equipment

Just curious what your opinions are on using an at home device versus going to a office and having it done as far as efficacy goes. Thanks!

What is it like?

I'm thinking about trying neurofeedback to help treat some confusion I've been having. I've already had a brain map and it showed very high delta waves in the frontal lobes. I'm just curious what the sessions entail. Like what exactly do you do?

Think I might have FND- anyone in a similar situation?

Bare with me, as using my brain to even type this is somewhat of a challenge. I'll try to provide a quick synopsis of my experience and I'm happy to hear any feedback.

I've had ongoing brain fog for about five years now- simple forgetfulness but troublesome at times. Under lots of stress in life. Used cannabis off and on. Used alcohol occasionally. I used a cannabis vape about eight months ago and it's life a switch flipped. I've felt more confused and disoriented. Like my brain refuses to process the world anymore. Life has been pretty difficult due to this.

My symptoms:

- confusion/disorientation/severe brain fog that is pretty much constant

-not as fluent

-reading comprehension poor

-memory is awful

-occasional headaches

-dizziness if i turn around too fast

-functional impairment- daily tasks are a challenge

-generalized weakness and fatigue

-depression/crying spells almost daily

-a feeling that something is off, like I'm brain damaged

-developed weird facial feeling/weakness a few months ago ( been assessed and it is not obvious facial droop, but I can feel a difference)

NOTE: I've been dealing with some depression and anxiety for a few years now, nothing really seems to help, but this seems like something more now, and the depression is more of a symptom.

I've seen psych providers, neurologists, cardiologist, among some others. I've had depression treatment as far as ketamine and TMS. I've had a head CT and MRI of the brain- both negative. Heavy metal test negative, blood work mostly negative. Doctors are unsure and one thinks FND could be possible. Nothing seems to really point anywhere. The only kinda information that I've gotten were increased delta waves while awake which can indicate brain slowing (sometimes with damage, sometimes not). I'm just kind of at a loss. Not really sure what to do. I just had neuropsych testing completed and results pending.

I feel like all of the stuff I've dealt with just boiled up to a certain point and using a high dose thc pen tipped it over the edge, and my brain just shut down. But again, I'm not sure, and trying to figure it out makes me feel even more confused.

I'm curious, do you all feel like your brain is damaged too despite no clear evidence? Did anything help? I've considered getting a PET scan but not sure if it would even be useful at this point. Have any of you sought out more advanced imaging past and MRI? Thoughts and opinions are appreciated. Thank you.

Undiagnosed, inconclusive results and feeling....strange

Hey guys. I'm new to the community but am very curious about different perspectives and symptom presentations. Bear with me because even writing this is particually challenging for me. I've been dealing with weird symptoms.. mainly a constant disorientation and confusion for about seven months. Like a severe brain fog from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to sleep. Along with some strange neurological symptoms that don't make sense, such as occasional lower extremity weakness yet having two normal neuro exams by two different neurologists. I've had blood work and scans that have all been inconclusive. EEG is currently pending. I've went down the psych route. Doctor thinks FND is a possibility. I do have depression, but have been treated for several years, with some things working, but lately, nothing really helps. My emotions just feel out of whack. I've cried nearly every day for about seven months because I just don't feel like "me" anymore. Idk who that person even is now. I don't know what to do.

I also have a bunch of cognitive struggles, yet having normal cognitive testing- memory, especially working memory, is abysmal. You tell me something and I may or may not remember what you said a minute later, or only just bits and pieces of what was said. Problem solving is in the dumps. I used to be extremely good at mental math but it's just like my brain cannot process it anymore. Task switching and so on. I'm like someone with severe ADHD who is unmedicated, which I have been in the past and currently am. Maybe slightly improved with meds. Furthermore, I can't conceptualize and break down topics like I once could. Dissociation is a pretty common occurrence. The doctors are unsure and so is everyone else around me (note: not here for a diagnosis). I would consider myself fairly intelligent before this occurred but it has impacted my functionality pretty badly.

I suppose my question is... does anyone else feel like they are in a constant daze and confusion that never really seems to improve (if it does improve it's so subtle that it's not really noticeable)? I just feel weird constantly. Like something is off with me and it just can't be figured out. Like my brain can no longer process what it sees or what I read or the world around me as a whole. I can't break down tasks anymore. I'm sorry for the long spill, but I've juat been struggling.

Is there anything that can help this constant confusion and disorientation? Does anyone experience symptoms pretty constantly? Was your symptoms on set sudden or gradual? How has it impacted your lif. I would love to hear some opinions. Thank you all for your time and patience.

Does it get better?

Hey all. I've been struggling with some cognitive issues after an event about six months ago. The fog is one thing, but my biggest issue is a constant sense of mental confusion. Does anyone else relate? It's almost like your brain just doesn't comprehend or make sense of the world around you like it once did. If this is something that you've dealt with, did it ever improve or were there things that you did to make it any better? Insights are appreciated.

Hey, guys. Just looking for some insight or opinions. My case isn't necessarily trauma related, but an injury from possible toxin exposure, and I didn't really know another sub that would be relevant for this and feel like my symptoms are extremely similar to a tbi. Have seen providers but not officially diagnosed. I had a potential toxin exposure about six months ago and have had an ongoing, pretty much constant, sense of mental confusion/disorientation after this event. It's almost like nothing in the world around me makes sense. For those that suffer from a brain injury, does the confusion feel constant or does it have moments where it is better and then comes back? Also, my MRI and cognitive tests were normal- has anyone experienced something similar but still "off" or impaired? I greatly appreciate your thoughts. God bless.

Last time that I used a thc cart was about six months ago. I've always used regulated products and brands that I assumed were reliable and trustworthy. The last time I used this product I developed a sense of mental confusion that has not really ever left. It's constant. From the moment I wake up to the moment I go to sleep. It's completely changed everything about me and I don't function the same. Been to multiple doctors. Scans all normal. Cognitive tests normal despite feeling constantly impaired. I've fucked myself. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this shit.

Hey, all. I'm new to the sub. I've been dealing with some mental confusion and cognitive impairment after past use of thc pens. The last time, five months ago, is what really caused the current symptoms I'm having. I guess my question is, does dpdr manifest itself as a sense of mental confusion? To elaborate, I look at the world around me and it's almost like it doesn't make sense in my head or feels foreign to me. I feel like I begin to have moments of clarity but it just slips away from me. It's made my memory almost non-existent, planning/problem solving extremely poor and the ability to perform things such as daily chores seem almost impossible. Has anyone with dpdr experienced something similar to this? Also, another question, can using cannabis just suddenly trigger this disorder or is it something that gradually comes about with consistent use? Also, to note, I'm seeing multiple health care providers to try to figure this out. Thank you so much for the insights.

I used a thc pen (have used in the past) about five and a half months ago and have had an ongoing sense of confusion ever since. Seeing many doctors. All baffled. MRI normal. Always bought from a credible dispensary. Literally feel lost in the world around me. Anyone know of or heard of a similar case?
