Hello,
I was born and raised in Stockton, and I remember hearing many creepy stories and urban legends. I no longer live there, but I recently read an article about a serial killer being caught where I live now after 30 years. The killer had become something of an urban legend, and reading the article made me think back to Stockton and all of the creepy stories and legends I grew up listening to.
I'm sure we all know the story about the Flamingo Club story. The infamous "devil visited that club in the late 90s" story. Probably the most well known creepy story in Stockton's history. Luckily that place is done now. I've only been there once while I was in high school and got a really weird and creepy vibe in that place.
I remember seeing a post on this sub Reddit years ago where someone said they had heard there was an underground tunnel system beneath Delta College. As an alumni of Delta College, I can confirm that is true. When I was a student at Delta, I worked at the Delta Flea Market on most weekends. Our job was to make sure the vendors had their permits and were set up in the correct spots for the market. Our "HQ/Office" was that small old police station building (idk if it's still there) on the corner of the parking lot facing Pacific Avenue, directly facing Ahipoki & Panera, directly across from Denny's and BWWs. Inside the building, there's a room with a door and latch built into the floor. When you opened it, it led down a staircase into the tunnels. It was super creepy. At one point, I went back to check out the tunnel entrance again, but it had been sealed off with plywood. I quit shortly after that. (I will also attach photos I took from inside the building and the stairway that led down to the tunnels. Not the best photos but something to show). There are also a lot of creepy stories about Delta College. The school was built on the site of an old mental hospital from the 1930s and 1940s. In that same station where we worked out of, a custodian who had been there for years told us that a Delta College police officer had taken his own life in that very building and that his spirit haunts that building.
Another creepy story I heard came from a family friend who worked for a large nonprofit organization in Stockton. I won't name the organization, but just know that it's well-known and has been around in the U.S. for over 100 years. The previous CEO/President of the nonprofit was a fourth- or fifth-generation Stocktonian, meaning their family had been in Stockton since it was incorporated as a city in the 1850s. If I remember correctly, the family came from wealth and worked closely with the Weber, Spanos, Holt, Swain, and March families. I think a lot of Stockton locals don't realize that these families (yes, the streets named after them) were major players in building and funding Stockton's development from the 1850s to the 1980s. The former CEO also came from a long line of medical professionals in the Stockton area (which becomes important later). The creepy part of the story is that my family friend once visited the CEO's home with potential donors. When they arrived, there was an old leather-covered book sitting on the coffee table. Curious, my family friend opened it while the CEO and the donors stepped away to discuss funding and other business. What he saw has stuck with him ever since. According to him, the leather-cover book was a master collection of records documenting people who had been lobotomized from the 1930s through the 1960s at the mental hospitals where Delta College is today and the CSU Stanislaus Stockton Satellite campus. He said the book had patients' photographs taken before and after their lobotomies, along with their height, age, and the reasons they had been admitted to the mental hospitals. He immediately closed the book and acted as if he had never touched it, thinking that the CEO might notice something was out of place. Later, my family friend learned that the CEO's family had a long lineage of doctors who had worked closely with the Stockton families mentioned earlier. According to what he was told, they helped build and fund the area's mental hospitals, where they practiced medicine during the early years of lobotomies in the U.S. Whether every detail is true or not, it's one of the craziest and creepiest stories I've ever heard come out of Stockton. My family friend also ended up leaving that job not long afterward.
Sorry for the long post. Thought I would share my creepy stories and urban legends from Stockton. But I want to hear from you guys. Whats the creepiest Urban legends or stories that you've heard from Stockton. Been on a scary story bend lately.

Hello,
For some context, I am attempting to take ECON 100A over at UC Davis since I won't be in SD for the summer. The class is equivalent to ECON 100A here at UCSD and everything is online including exams. The econ department told me if the class is online, the exams have to be in person. I basically answered my own question but the Econ department keeps changing their minds when I ask. For anyone who has petition before, whats the process like? Is there a way to convince them to let me take the class even with exams being proctored? I took a few econ upper divs last summer that were online and proctored(ECON 120A& 110B). Any help is appreciated.
Just got my decision from the VA today and no increase. What should I do next? For some context this was my third time applying for disability. The first two times I did it on my own. I know I’m gonna get hate for this but I used VBG a third-party to file. Did everything, listened to my counselor from VBG and nothing. My counselor mentioned to go through my county VSO or my VA to appeal. Has anyone ever had experience with this? Or any other advice they can give? I know I should’ve never used a third-party, but I was definitely desperate for an increase since I’ve been out for almost 5 years. Is it worth it to try again or appeal? Has anyone appeal and gotten a favorable outcome?
Professor's full name is Jose Antonio Rodrigues Lopez. How's his class? Is he a good professor? midterm? final? Ratemyprofessor has not been helpful
As the title says, I just received a D a third time in ECON 100A. The last two times I've taken the course, I've also received a D. I'm suppose to be graduating summer session 2 of this year and I'm nervous. I'm currently looking at ECON 100A equivalents on UC Online and have a meeting with the econ department on monday to discuss this. Has anyone ever taken a class on UC Online ? If so, was it easy to transfer it ?
Can someone DM me a syllabus from any ECON 100A class from this pervious school year? It can be summer too. I need it to petition a course. Please and thank you
Yo, is it just me or have there been more cheaters as of lately? This past school year, I always see posts about people cheating on finals or being caught. Granted, I've seen it first hand during some of my finals and I know people will find ways to cheat on exams. However, in all my 4 years here, this year alone I've noticed people have brought up cheating way more often. Also, I guess in the WeChats, they pass around the answer keys to exams? like how is that even possible? But it is what it is
How was SFL TAP for you guys? Did you guys think it was useful or helpful? I only ask because I have a friend who’s transitioning out the army and he’s currently in the mandatory SFL TAP classes and he keeps telling me how shitty they are. I’ve been out for a few years now, I can barely remember anything from those classes. They were incredibly boring and not really useful in my opinion. Seems like a bunch of checkmarks the army has to go through just to get you out or at least say they tried. I would think the army would improve their program, but I guess it’s still the same.
This is mainly for the army folk, but I also wanna hear from other branches and their transitioning programs. How was SFL TAP for you guys? Did you guys think it was useful or helpful? Hello, so I've been out since 2021. I did my four years and dipped. I vividly remember being told not to get out because the real world is terrible and I wouldn't be able to find a job with benefits comparable to the Army's (completely wrong, by the way). Everyone told me this: my former NCOs, Platoon Sergeant, Retention NCO, Training Room NCO (screw his big-back self), and my former battery XO. Hell, my own battery commander called me a "bum" for choosing to ETS and pursue other opportunities. To be fair, I got out toward the end of 2021, so we were just coming out of the pandemic and the economy was starting to slow down. However, that didn't stop me because my plan was to attend school full-time and use my GI Bill. Fast forward to today: I'm graduating with my bachelor's degree in Economics, with minors in Finance and Accounting, and I'll be starting my MBA in Business Analytics later this year. With that being said, forget what those shitty leaders have to say about you leaving the Army. There's definitely more to life than the military, especially when you're surrounded by people who want you to suffer with them because they don't have the courage to think outside the box. But what's your story? I can only imagine how much worse it is now that AI has entered the picture.

Hello,
Also posted this on r/sandiego. What are your guys go-to gyms in San Diego? For some context, I got out of the Army back in 2022 and have been in college since then. With that being said I've really let myself go as a result of being a full-time student and also working part-time. I'm graduating this summer and looking to stay in SD afterwards. I really want to get back in shape. I've tried to get back into the gym while in school but my studies would take ahold of me, resulting in losing my progress and momentum. But now there's no excuses with the schedule I have now with my job lined up. With that being said, what are some good gyms in the neighborhoods of Little Italy, North Park, Mission Valley, Clairemont/Kearny Mesa. I am also Interested in Beginner friendly Combat sport gyms like boxing, Jiu Jistu, MMA, Kick-boxing, Muay Thai? Thanks in advance
