Found these when clearing out the garage - no advance Lego sets for me!

Lego lover children today don’t know how lucky they are - imagine having this as your only inspiration! Happy memories, I would spend hours building and rebuilding different houses.

Please don’t hate me..I need to ask something about Christmas.

I’m so sorry to be mentioning Christmas in August! But I need some recommendations please.

Due to many, many factors, sadly we are unable to have Christmas Day dinner at home this year. The same was true last year, and we ended up at The Royal Oak in Yattendon which wasn’t great, and we have since had a bad experience there, so looking for other recommendations people may have?

We are Caversham way but happy to travel a fairly reasonable distance for the right place.

Thank you (and sorry again, don’t ban me!)

Beware of Wagamama at Gatwick

We recently went on holiday via Gatwick and I was struggling to find anything for my coeliac daughter to eat (I had bought supplies but my husband wanted to eat there). We saw Wagamama and, given how good they normally are, we got a table.

My word. The worst and rudest experience I have had eating out with her. Firstly on the door we were reassured there were gluten free options. Sitting down, however, a young, really rude guy came up and shoved an iPad in my face, barking at me to read the allergy wavier and sign it! I asked him about their gluten free options and he was very vague, obsessed with his waiver being signed which, when I looked, said about contamination. Eventually he said that all food is cooked together and they don’t separate anything.

I have never, ever in my life been asked to sign a waiver for my daughter and I’m pretty upset about the experience.

For a chain that prides itself on being allergy friendly (we often eat at our local and they treat my daughter like royalty), it would be far better if they just outright said they can’t do it at Gatwick instead of asking people to sign away their health. Or just get the staff to say it’s not safe, not have an iPad literally shoved in my face.

A note on Gatwick north - we found nothing suitable for my daughter to eat. Luckily I had lots of nice things for her that I brought with me but really not a good experience there.

Gluten free Gatwick North

UK based - Does anyone have any experience of breakfast options at Gatwick north? I have googled and the old usuals come up but I’m weary given we would be about to board a flight and could do without sickness! I see Joe and the Juice do gluten free and have a site at Gatwick - are they safe? Failing anywhere safe to eat, any other ideas for a gf breakfast when we have an early flight and have to leave and travel quite far in the car beforehand? Thank you!

School summer holiday ideas

As summer holidays fast approach, I’m trying to get a bit more organised and think of some fun stuff I can do with my two children. They are 11 and 14, they genuinely like pretty much anything, I have a car and am happy to travel so doesn’t just need to be nearby. The 14 year old is slowly preferring friend time over family time, so I’m hoping to make the most of this summer! Thanks in advance for any ideas and hopefully this post is of use to others…

Gluten free options near Catania and beyond.

We are so excited to be coming to beautiful Sicily in the summer. My daughter is coeliac and we are looking for some gluten free help. We are staying in Catania so any restaurants, bakeries etc near there would be fantastic that could cater for her, but also any further out as we have a car and will be exploring as much as possible. Also, is there a best gluten free option supermarket on that area that we should visit (we are self catering). Thank you in advance.

Ofsted ratings

How accurate are these ratings for local authorities? Appreciate it may seem a silly question, but Ofsted get so slated by schools and teachers and are often reported as a grade not truly reflecting how the school actually is, yet I haven’t heard any push back or similar thoughts from social workers? I’m looking at applying for jobs in local authorities, one is graded outstanding across all areas and I think that is clouding my judgement a little.

Super super super newbie here. I have followed different videos to learn long tail cast off and knit stitch, but they all say different things about which way your yarn should go around the needle. Examples here, purl soho demo the yarn is going one way and then Nimble Needles goes another way. Am I over thinking this/are they actually going the same way? Does it matter? Would really appreciate your thoughts.
