Scam or not scam: lost storage hunters edition

So this is a tough one! Did anyone else experience something similar ever?

Today around 10:00 my mobile was ringing several times; i only made a call back after i got a WhatsApp from the number
—> hard ringing: scammy

The WhatsApp said “there’s still material from you at xyz; i can’t find you in our system” and a picture of my name and mobile number handwritten on a post it style paper fixed with adhesive strips on some wood/palette style container (the image was somewhat confusing pre call)
—> WhatsApp message: seemed legit (ex post it could be mid scammy; also the post it looked somewhat freshly written; at least it was not dirty or weathered)

The WhatsApp profile of the sender looked legit; a person doing a holiday activity but taken from afar so that they’re not identifiable
—> WA profile: seemed legit; maybe a bit generic

So i called back and a young woman picked up the phone. Her story was that they’re in a (let’s say crafting) collective called xyz (in another canton) and that they have some sort of a warehouse. And that there is a container with said picture of my name and mobile number on it. Her question was if i come by and get my stuff or if they should dispose of it (there is zero chance that i ever deposed something in this other canton or said warehouse)
—> the woman spoke Swiss German, was very well articulated and her story seemed authentic: seemed legit (ex post i was a bit taken away by her well-spokenness; but it didn’t feel fishy at the moment)

As i told her that’s i impossible she asked for permission to look inside the container, i said yes and long story short: the contents were complete junk (to 99,99% of all people, as claiming this would only result in trash disposal fees) she sent a picture of the contents: i have never seen the container and it’s contents ever. So we agreed on them disposing the contents and ended the call
—> seemed legit a the time and somewhat still does (ex post: noone ever would have claimed that stuff; the fishyness of it is, that noone would ever come by)

So all in all i give this a low scam rating of 30%; but to me the rating, that this is a prank or an identity mismatch would be way lower, like 10% or less… which makes me suspicious!

The only thing that they would have gained from a scam is a verified mobile phone number/identity match as i was not asked to pay anything

So did anyone ever experience something similar?

As a jogger: how to tell pedestrians to make place

Hello jogger fam,

I tend to run from letten/kornhausbrücke along limmat, as many do

Now this route is also a very popular walking route and over the years i have adapted my jogging route to avoid congested parts as good as possible

Where I still struggle is when two or three people take up the whole width of the path; facing my direction or away from me (or them having a dog on a leash spanning over everything or two kinderwägen bext to eachother). Also i try to adhere to traffic rules like staying on the right side of the path etc.

- for the people facing my direction i experiment with bright signal colored shirts; but there’s still a considerable amount of people “not seeing” me or walking into my lane

- with people facing away from me i tried different shouts; but usually there is a) a moment of confusion followed by b) a confused dance by all participants to gather on one side and make place for me (…and sometimes c) aggression)

So is someone more successful with this? Mind to share your methods?

Fledgling enigma

Short question: are fledglings kept somewhere in a hidden place between hatching / nesting phase and fledgling phase or are they accompanying their parents from day one?

Long form: there is a crow couple a friend of mine is feeding from the balcony. The setup is so, that there is a big building with a balcony, a lawn, some trees and a specific tree with a nest (barely visible from the balcony)

Now the last months has been nesting and breeding time. This crow couple behaved accordingly: mom sat in the nest 99% of the day and dad was foraging from the lawn and picking served food from the balcony (daily) - bringing it to mom sitting in the nest

As the nest is only barely visible, it’s hard to tell if there have been any youngsters, but from their behavior everyone guessed that yes

Now there have been some very hot days and since one very hot day (maybe two weeks ago) the mum is not seen in the nest any more

They even changed their behavior so that both of them now are feeding at the balcony in the morning; are gone for the rest of the day and only sometimes return in the evening to feed on the minced meat from the balcony - the nest is abandoned

So everyone is guessing what happened to the fledglings - where there any? Did they survive the heat day or not? Are they at a secret place and not accompanying their parents yet?

I would be glad to hear from your experience, knowledge or guesstimates

Wondering about this building with the čedok sign

Everyone has their favorite architecturally bogus derelict building in Prague - this one is mine!

Can anyone tell me the history of this building?

It’s right at the beginning of vinohradska, has a čedok sign on top and now there are some cranes infront - it’s next to česky rozhlas. But with the sign on top i always thought it’s a čedok office building

The orange brownish glass gives it a seventies “golden pyramid” vibe and with the crazy construction on top it looks like right out of blade runner

Any info is appreciated!

Question about Raskolnikov’s theory

So Raskolnikov’s theory of the “Superman” was not falsified at the end - it’s just him not being Superman enough?

Is svidrigailov the real Superman of the story?

Highlighting sentences that continue on the next page drives me crazy

How is it done properly? I always end up with the kindle freezing for 2min and then marking the rest of the chapter/of the book

I put my finger on the start of the sentence, move it to the end of the sentence of the page (so lower right corner) and then disaster strikes

Can someone explain coop wine special offers to me?

Is it always 20%?
How many times a year does it happen?
Anything else that is noteworthy?

Also: does the wine assortment ever change? I’m tracking some wines over the years and they’re always available

Extra question: is it frowned upon by wine Connaisseurs the get wine from coop?

Nice place to play chess (indoors)

What would be a nice bar, cafe, club etc. to play some chess?

Meaning it is allowed to play there, has nice tables, is maybe not extremely busy or even had some history as a chess place. Preferably around k5 but anywhere in the city works too
