Problem signal
Just saw a big ol’ tripe axel 5th wheel going down the road with their outdoor kitchen open. Do we have some kind of hand signal we can give each other on the road to say HEY! YOU’VE GOT A PROBLEM? Jeeps have their wave and Harley riders too, if we don’t have something we should. But not as a greeting, as a YOU SHOULD PULL OVER.
Do yall poop in your camper?
My wife and I come from families that just say hard no. So we never have. Pee? Go for it. Poops have always been emergencies only. We’ve been told it will jam up the sensors or stink up the joint. Those black tank sensors never read right anyway though so, I ask the question. Do yall poop in your camper?
Question for the tow police
Looking for advice from the members of the Tow Enforcement Community in this sub.
I want to upgrade from a chain style WDH to an equalizer to get the 4 point sway control.
The cheapass in me wants to buy one I found near me on FB. The seller says it is about 15yo and it’s listed for about 1/6 retail price of a new one.
The extra-cautious-tower side however has concerns that a hitch that old may have lost some friction or the amount of stress on the steel over that much time could cause it to fail.
I am curious what our resident tow-thorities think. Would any of you arrest me for pulling with a used WDH? If not, would I be detained if I got caught pulling with one that is this used?
Pork Tenderloin I smoked for dinner lookin extra meaty if you know what I mean
What to expect from camping world?
I know I know everyone hates them and you’re going to tell me to just stay away. We tried, but then we found a camper we really like there, I just want to know what to expect them to pull out last minute in terms of dealer fees hidden costs etc. before I get any kind of close to serious. Who’s had some experience?
Edit: I appreciate the advice so far, just want to clarify a few things.
We’re not new to the game, this would be our fourth camper so we know what to look for when shopping and how to spot a poorly maintained one.
We are looking at mostly new old stock.
Ive worked in direct and indirect auto finance for the largest CU in my state for a decade and know the ins and outs of the finance game, as well as bogus back end warranties and all that, so I’m not concerned there either.
I’m really curious about dumb shit like dealer fees, do they pass along transport costs, other misc fees etc. Previous posters have mentioned surprises when it came time to put pen to paper so I’m wondering what kind of surprise could have come up.
Coralville water question
We moved to the Oakdale neighborhood about a year ago from Cedar Rapids. There’s a water softener in the basement, so I’ve been adding salt as needed since we moved. Just now it dawned on me that our former home in CR also had a softener when I bought it, but I grew up there and knew it wasn’t necessary to soften CR water, so I just lived as though I had no softener for about 5 years and everything was fine. Before I try that here, does anyone know if it’s even necessary? Do I actually need to soften the water in this town or was the previous owner a some kind of water pervert like the previous owner of my CR house?
I’ve been pulling our 3000lb hybrid camper with a Tacoma for a few years and recently upgraded to a half ton Tundra. My wife has already gotten in the itch for a bigger camper and folks this rash is contagious. It took about a week to spread to me and the hydrocortisone cream is not working.
I think we should be looking at 20-25ft range and try to stay at or under 6000lbs with a slide out. Just us and dogs no kids, don’t need a ton of space but more than we have now would be huge. I would love to be able to walk past each other and not have to literally climb up into bed. Lay it on me Tow Police, is this range reasonable?
