North Carolina leaders urge action to protect SNAP benefits amid potential cuts
Do you expect Republicans to protect aid food for children?

Do you expect Republicans to protect aid food for children?
We all know that this bill should actually be called the Election and Voter Cancellation Bill... since the most important thing it does is to allow your votes to be nullified, after an election is over --- if it happens to be an election lost by a Republican.
It's really abhorrent. Hopefully there will be enough Republicans who are so embarrassed by the treasonous nature of this legislation that they won't override Stein's veto. But counting on a Republican to have a modicum of integrity is never a safe bet.

Everyone seeing this, of any political party, needs to ask themselves and honestly answer for themselves 2 important questions.
The answers, well... you probably know both, so might want to think about the obvious ones as you decide to whom your midterm votes should go.
Answer spoilers: >!(1) to get their piece of the most profitable oil revenues in history, and (2) politicians of the GOP (Gouging On Petroleum) party.!<
This attack on our voting system was clearly one of the hoped-for results, when Trump decimated the Federal CISA (Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency) that use to protect elections - in his unceasing efforts to eliminate our right to vote. As he continues to promote the GOP's SAVE ACT voter suppression scheme, he and his Rethugnican Republican sycophants are actively promoting attacks on our elections and on the people who try to keep them fair.
Any idea of which party is allowing an alleged serial harasser to continue to represent it? ... especially considerate of its women?
And this AFTER completing their own ethics report... I'll bet you can guess.
Yet another abdication of responsibility by our GOP General Assembly. This time in favor of preventing efforts to preserve "Law and Order".
Article claiming that implementing minimum wages is not a good and decent thing to do for workers. The author states...
>I think employers and employees should be free to strike their own bargains.
... but I would note that this would not result in an even playing field, in a state which so actively prevents the possibility for collective bargaining. Hence, a fair bargain would never be possible, from the workers' standpoints.
I'm thinking that this is the reason that Republicans are being so aggressive in their attempted sabotage of mail-in voting... especially with North Carolina being so critical in the upcoming mid-terms.
I hope that they are not successful.
So the CJ gives her a golden opportunity to redeem herself in the eyes of presumably decent people... and her response:
>“Every teenager has made a mistake; every person has made a mistake,” she said. “I’m not here to talk about that.
She has to be remarkably stupid to fail to see that the only reason she was interviewed was to give her the opportunity to legitimately distance herself (and her self-declared identity of "a conservative woman", a "Christian woman", "a God-fearing woman") from her earlier, supposedly innocent comments... Instead, she doubles down on defending the odious and obnoxious comments that essentially proved that she was anything but.
This is about a case in which Stein is trying to reclaim the power to do the job North Carolina citizens elected him to do. This is only necessary because the Republican General Assembly is trying to strip all real authority from the Governor, in order to gather for their party the few remaining powers that people have left to exercise through their choice of governors. I resent that grab, especially living in a State that doesn't allow citizen ballot initiatives. The statewide election of a governor is the only opportunity North Carolinians have to actually exercise their citizen prerogatives through a real (not gerrymandered) majority - and Republicans are doing their damnedest to prevent that - for purely partisan reasons.
With enough political will, NC voters might have time to prevent these 20 Republican voter reduction schemes from coming to fruition.
The NC Republican Party wants your votes... I guess to continue the tradition.
Need a primer on the Republican legislature's shenanigans that are targeting fair voting in North Carolina? This video is pretty clean, and is only requires 9 minutes to view... tells you most of what you need to know about what you risk losing, if enough people just ignore it.
So, Governor Stein has joined AG Jeff Jackson in trying to prevent Duke from implementing those ridiculous rate hikes they've asked for. Jackson's already forced them to lower their greedy request substantially, but having Governor Stein on board in the fight will certainly add a real sting to Jackson's punch.
Miss North Carolina was stripped of her title pageant title yesterday, for reasons described by most news outlets, "after a string of allegedly offensive posts came into public view." Only the NC Beat saw fit to publish any details about just what comprised the alleged behavior.
Nice to see the pageant organizers declare that the organization "does not tolerate racism, homophobia, transphobia nor language that strips any person of their dignity."
Chuck Edwards, running for NC's 11th District, was doing his thing... apparently with the staffers he hired. He claims that his creepy gifts and "affectionate" talk weren't sexual in nature.
There's a short introductory panel discussion that illuminates issues related to voting restrictions being promoted in Republicans' House Bill 958... likely being voted on THIS WEEK, after being hidden and resurrected multiple time as the bill sponsors reacted to public scrutiny of the voter suppressive aspects of the legislation. While this is a video, there is a transcript available at the bottom of the show notes, for those who prefer reading to watching - but you'll have to open the video and click the YouTube logo at the bottom right to open the page on YouTube (typing "m" on this page will mute the audio here).
This provides a bit more context into the connection between the GOP lawmakers involved, and their apparent quid pro quo regarding some shady money making opportunities coming out of Florida. I imagine that the right wing of the NCGA would love for us to become Florida Jr. ... for political equity.
