I recently found this sub and wanted to show off my rings! We’ve been married for 2 years and I love my set more and more. Size 6.5ish finger with 4 ct center hexagon. I plan to add a companion band just like the current one to completely hug the ring at some point.
Basically what the title says. First year corporate attorney who genuinely hates the work. Hated litigation too (clerked for a year). I think I just don’t like being an attorney…which I wish I figured out earlier. My firm is on the smaller side and the partners are crazy busy and have a lot less time to mentor. Partner I mostly work under, when he does mentor, has just 5 minutes to explain things and then “go do.”
Everything is an emergency because it takes a while for an assignment to get from client, to partner, to me. A different firm could be the answer, but I also don’t like what I’m doing. I’ve thought about estate planning but it feels like a big unknown. I know it’s not true, but going to law school feels like it was such a big mistake and I have to live with those consequences the rest of my life because of loans.
Any advice? Other careers I can use the degree in? Other areas of the law where these skills may be transferable? Sorry if this is hard to understand, I’m just so frustrated with my job and with myself, and have only 5 minutes because another emergency just got handed my way.
Hi all—first of all, please pardon if I use a term incorrectly, my dad just gave me his Canon AE-1 Program and I have never shot film, but it seems like this is my chance! Second, I have the crank with the screw still attached, but it is not pictured here. From what I can tell, the silver spring loaded cylindrical piece that attaches to the crank became separated and fell into the film cavity years ago. My dad doesn’t remember how it happened or whether a piece is missing. There’s no film so I can hear it rattling around in there. My question is, how can I get the film cavity open without these pieces and without majorly damaging the camera? I have already tried a paper clip to find the release and I can’t get it to open. I don’t need to repair the crank, I need to get the back open without the crank.
ETA: additional detail and clarify question.
Location: US-New York State, NYC metro area
Date of Home Construction: 1890’s
Date of Suspected Renovation: 1940’s-1950’s (estimate is based on the fact that plywood is all Douglas fir)
Location: first floor of home in what would have been part of the living area.
Husband and I have been demoing our floor and realized these materials could contain asbestos. The black adhesive is on top of plywood and the vinyl tiles are on top of the black adhesive. As the plywood is attached to hardwood floors that we want to restore, we have been doing demo exclusively with crowbars and rubber mallets. We’ve already been doing demo with KN95 masks, windows open, and plastic sheeting up. Sending out for testing and treating it as asbestos for now but looking for thoughts and any recs on demo while we wait.
