Filbert Pump Repair

I have a Filbert Pump and the top cap is cracked and leaks air. I tried to buy a replacement cap from the Filbert website. After a short exchange of emails and before I placed the order, the emails stopped and someone told me the guy who makes them and runs the site passed away (earlier this year/late last year).

Anyone have any ideas for sourcing parts other than Filbert? I tried using superglue and PVC cement and neither worked. A regular PVC cap doesn't fit because the Filbert cap is an odd size. Any ideas?

Clown-curious needs advice

I am considering getting into clowning. I’ve always wanted to be a performer (outside of the singing and bands I’ve done)- and clowning just seems like such a great fit for me.

Alas! resources for learning the basics seems to elude me.

I am a long haul trucker- I am literally only free on the weekends so anything I do must fit in those two specific days each week. So I am trying to find videos, self paced, books etc. maybe suggestions for how to get in contact with clowns near me and maybe going to help/observe them.

Whatdya think!?

Of course any direct advice on clowning here is welcome too!!

Clown Workshop at Arrow

Howdy, Springfield! This is Picklefish from your local clown troupe The Fools Gladly!

Just reaching out to say that we've got a wonderful clown teacher coming through the area for the next couple weeks and we're setting up some clown classes to help offset his travel costs.

If you've ever wondered about modern clown, what it is, what it means, or why then this could be a great experience! Be prepared to explore, play, and connect. To stop, collaborate, and listen. And to remember your clown truth (and find out what that means!).

Jef Johnson is a wonderful clown, philosopher, teacher, and human being. He was a principal clown for Slava's Snowshow's run in NY from 2005-2009, worked for Cirque du Soleil as a consultant, workshop director, and clown animator, and he founded New York City's Clown Lab which ran from 2006 to 2012.

And now he's coming to Springfield to run a one-night-only Clown Lab at Arrow Creative Reuse on Sunday, August 9th from 4pm to 8pm. It's $100 and limited to 20 people.

You can register for it at Arrow Creative Reuse's website at https://arrowcreativereuse.org . Just scroll down until you see the clown.

Where to get started?

Hello everyone! So, I’ve been interested in clowning for awhile, but I’m just stuck on how to sort of actually *start,* you know? What types of things should I do? I like to think I’m pretty funny and friendly, hopefully approachable. I try really hard to make folks around me comfortable! I’m just really not sure how exactly I should come up with makeup, a name, material, that sort of thing. I’m a little scared that I won’t do it the right way :o( Plus, once I have everything ready to actually do it, I’m not sure where I would perform. I don’t live somewhere super populated so it’s a bit tough to figure out. I’ve thought about volunteering in full clown garb, is that something people do? I’m just very nervous, I really respect clowning and think of it as an art and very important, especially in modern days. I just want to make people smile, if I can. So how can I get started? Any advice is appreciated! :o)

How to become a clown?

Hello, I am a teen interested in clowning, not for a full on job or anything but more of a hobby/side gig of sorts?

I have a few questions, as I am a complete beginner to this and do not know where to start in the slightest.

  • Firstly, I'm interested in becoming more of a sad clown, I've read about the tramp clown and such, but I am mainly interested in the pierrot. I know that Pierrot was originally a character, and I'm unsure if that means someone can base a clown character off of it? Would it be like, clown identity theft?
  • On top of that, how exactly would one become a sad clown? What kind of acts do sad clowns do? What can I look into learning for the sake of being entertaining? I already know how to twist balloons and I think I'm decent at it, but should I try to learn anything else?
  • I'm not the most charismatic and am socially awkward, but I am more interested in being one of those silent clowns, but at what point does silent acts with body language just become being a mime? Do I want to lean more into being a mime?
  • Most importantly, what are some resources where I can learn more about clowning? Like I said, I'm a complete beginner and would like to learn anything I can about it.

I'm honestly not 100% sure I'm cut out for being a clown, but I'm still interested in learning more about it. I apologize for any bad grammar or accidental insults by implying that being a clown is something that can be learned on a whim.

Any info about anything helps!

Northeast Clown Institute?

Hi, I’m super new to clowning and I’m looking at attending NCI in January. I was wondering if anyone had any info on registration and how that process works (if it’s competitive anything at all honestly)
